  1. Dito, that of Peter, the high pressure through the was must have had some ingress into the parking sensor. I would also suggest encapsulating the electronics within the box with silicon or the like in order that the same situation is not repeated.
  2. Thank you Colin
  3. I would recommend you ignore the brake calliper cleaner opting instead to have the callipers sand blasted. This brings them up like new before going off to get them painted. What I chose to do on the SL500 AMG was to refurbish them following the sand blasting by powder coating, installing new rings and seals etc and they looked the business You may also wish to take a look at these guys; http://www.pmbperformance.com/calipers.html
  4. Any news on those wheels Colin? Have any further information been provided?
  5. What are you doing to those motors Trevor?

Car Mascots and English Law Over the years, along with changes in the design of cars, awareness of safety issues began to increase. The radiator grille cap, the traditional location for a car mascot, disappeared, and the popularity of mascots began to decline. Many people think that it is illegal to mount a mascot onto a modern motor car. This is not the case. There are two relevant sections in the statute law, and these should be taken into consideration before mounting a mascot: Regulation 53 Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986 states: "No mascot, emblem or other ornamental object shall be carried by a motor vehicle first used on or after 1 October 1937 in any position where it is likely to strike any person with whom the vehicle may collide unless the mascot is not liable to cause injury to such person by reason of any projection theron." Section 40A Road Traffic Act 1988 as amended by the Road Traffic Act 1991 states: "a person is guilty of an offence if he uses, or causes or permits another to use, a motor vehicle.... on a road when.... the condition of the vehicle..., or of its accessories or equipment.... is such that the use of the motor vehicle.... involves a danger of injury to any person." In conclusion I would sum up the issue with S.40A of The Road Traffic Act [1991] by stating if a mascot of any shape, style or form spring loaded or otherwise is attached to your vehicle then has the registered keeper of the vehicle you would be liable for any injury caused to a person should you come into contact with them directly or indirectly. You could also be reported under the aforementioned Section for having the mascot installed. Hope this clarifies the issue?
  8. Without doubt AMG Trevor, never had any problems with them and performance was second to none
  9. Hi Nigel, welcome to the club buddy. Quite a friendly lot on here and many who will only be to happy to answer any questions you may have which I'm sure will crop up. I was down your area last weekend my daughter lives in the Shortlands area of Bromley
  10. Colin, on the inside of the wheels it should have the ET rating such as ET35 for example, the wheels would also normally state the size within the hub such as 8J 9J etc.
  11. Cannot see Jaguar listed, I would be interested
  12. Fitted with 275/35/19 Colin I would be more inclined to believe they would be rear. I have 275's at present on my XKR but 20" wheels and want to downsize the diameter to other 18 or 19 so would be interested. Have can you mail me the photo?
  13. Just a little more detail Colin, I am interested in changing my wheels; Size 18, 19 or 20 x ? (width) Offset ? Tyre Size and wear ? and tyres and wheels same size on all four corners i.e equal offsets
  14. Welcome to the club/forum Clive, have fun
  15. Who owns the blue XKR parked in a driveway on Shortlands Road, Bromley, Kent Same colour as mine, looking good the only difference being the tin top other than a rag top. I've walked past the car at least 4 times on route to railway station this weekend.
  16. Good idea about the exhaust mounting however, why are they taking the bumper off to change a simple parking sensor which is removed by reaching behind, squeezing the two clips and pushing it outwards.
  17. A special driving test is a definite must, at the end of the day you are going from a car driver to an articulated vehicle driver there is a vast difference. I towed a caravan many times when younger and my children were young and we had a lot of fun in it. But then I was also guilty of many sins like towing a caravan that was heavier than my Honda Prelude
  18. 7 year old and 4 year old were in their bedroom when the 7 year old turned to the 4 year old and said 'Its about time we started swearing'. The 4 ear old agreed. OK then said the 7 year old when we go down for breakfast I'll swear first then its your turn. They went down stairs and Mam asked the 7 year old what he wanted for breakfast? he uttered 'Coco Pops !Removed!' when whack he was hit off his chair and started crying. She then turned to the 4 year old and uttered quite sternly and what do you want for breakfast whereon, he replied 'don't know but not fecking Coco Pops'. :D
  19. I would have said suspension however, if it stops when clutch is applied then I would be incorrect.
  20. Usual presses like yourselves chaps smelly's which I am told smell lovely but then they all know following a serious accident 15 years ago which amongst other injuries fractured my skull and left me with no sense of smell they can bluff me all they want. Get the 25, 26 and 27th over with (who wants to watch the Great Escape again for the upteenth time) and off to Costa Del Sol (Benalmedina) thats my Christmas a few shandy's in a pavement bar lunchtime with the sun on us at 23 deg
  21. Anybody interested in a set of 20" BBS Alloys all good tread on the tyres? The wheels are in excellent condition, just want to upgrade my wheels or rather downgrade to a smaller wheel and don't wish to hav them stacked in my garage.
  22. Have not had anything too do with an S type however, sounds like you have an exhaust leak in the engine bay which is making its way into the air con and retrospectively into the cabin. Get it checked putt Steve don't need to tell youu how serious the consequences are here
  23. Sounds sensible Peter
