flexible hose repair
Must agree with Peter, logic tells me if the noise was not there prior to the hose being changed then it must and has got to be something down to them

Gearbox, DSC, Parking Brake Fault then No Brake Lights after new battery
With all due respect is it really worth changing a piece of equipment and switches at the whim of a suggestion? Each and every item is at a cost which brings further costs having it fitted. Take it to the dealer who should have the depth of experience to deal with the issue and Jaguars technical support on the end of a phone

re-fuses
Charles, What and where is the aforementioned cover between the rear seats on he XKR mine as on long seat with no division. I intrigued by this so called fuse 19 and wish to attempt it myself. Nice sunny Autumn day and plenty of scope for a blast on the A4059 to frighten the sheep with the sound along with the sad hikers.

Gearbox, DSC, Parking Brake Fault then No Brake Lights after new battery
Under no circumstances should control settings be lost when disconnecting a battery. The ECU will have a back up up capacitor which acts as a battery holding enough charge for such things as control settings, sorry but this is a fallacy. I also have a trickle charger thats used for winter storage of my car which as permanent connections to the battery which then goes to a small plug that retrospectively connects to the trickle charger adapter, quite a useful piece of equipment if you are not using the vehicle for long periods in fact I also have an inverter 12V to 240V so plug this into the cigarette lighter socket when away on long holidays then plug the trickle charger into the inverter, obviously it a continuous supply of charger charging battery, and battery supplying inverter

New owner of an S-Type. Help!
Shaun, hopefully I can assist with the parking sensors. They work on a type of daisy chain meaning if one sensor is defunct then none of the others will work. It could very well be the case that you may have a dodgy one which work intermittently therefore your statement 'mind of their own'. The simple method for establishing as to whether a sensor is working correctly is for you to get someone to sit in the drivers seat, start engine, apply hand brake fully and select reverse checking each sensor in turn for a clicking sound. If no clicking sound is present on one or more then I would suspect the sensor/sensors to me at fault. Tip to the wise, don't get her indoors to sit in the drivers seat whilst performing the test she may seize the opportunity to get rid so to speak :D

Alarm
Like you I don't like locking wheel nuts/bolts having experienced a problem where one sheared whilst undoing it on a Merc I owned. Took me days and a lot of drill bits to eventually make an hole large enough to get a decent size screw extractor in there. There are many movement alarms out there and most will have an adjustment so that it will not go off in heavy winds etc, just when car is jacked up.

Feeling let down and sad.
That is really really bad Tony, no offence but what if it had been a woman in that position stranded at the side of a dual carriageway for 7 hours? I know my wife would be in a total panic and I would not be an happy choppy. You are a man of great courage not raising your fist, I think I would have been locked up having gone through what you experienced, I hold you in esteem.
