  1. Wish you well in your project Stefan, shame you are restricted to within the urban surroundings of the M25 and not capturing the beautiful backdrops the car could be placed in. When I done a City & Guilds in photography some years ago I was taught that a photograph should capture more than the focal image in order that viewers would be looking throughout the photograph. I do understand your restrictions with travel costs being a student etc my daughter was a student for 8 years gaining a phD however nearby surrounding Countryside just outside that of the M25 Surrey, Hertfordshire, Bucks , Kent etc can offer some enchanting backdrops to your photography such as the following taken on the hillside of the Brecon Beacons. Obviously the car is not in your range of pre-1990's but the image may be food for thought.
  2. Complete the entitlement form as required, attach the necessary documentation from memory; registration document. MOT and return all to DVLA Registrations SA99 The full address and department will be within the V750 document. They quote 14days for it all to be processed however, I was one of the fortunate ones which was returned sooner.
  3. Always what they want buddy not what you want. Actually I actually seen a woman yesterday getting into an SLK with the registration W4 ANT it gave me a little chuckle
  4. Up early and browsing the web Trevor. Rather than that CLS63 albeit a nice car for someone else I think I would prefer to go for something like this as an alternative; http://www.autotrader.co.uk/used-cars/bentley/continental-gt/used-bentley-continental-gt-exeter-fpa-201410238439024?logcode=p Horses for courses
  5. I love AMG's I have had many however have stuck with SL55, SL500, SLK32 etc don't like that CLS at all although its a car my old lady quite likes. £44K though Trevor second hand. Personal opinion and mine only because I've driven my brothers F series S I would rather pay the extra (60K) for that super super car. Take her to see it
  6. Make an excuse and postpone their visit :D
  7. Just found the following link on pistonheads chaps; http://www.pistonheads.com/calendar/event.asp?i=49122 Thought it may be of interest to you. They have advertised a Jaguar Sunday Meet ay Gaydon on the 2nd November (Sunday) You will notice there are many who have listed themselves for attendee's that will not be driving Jaguars however, some nice cars amongst them. It would be even better if we could get together a good fraction of the Jaguar Owners Club turning up and a good way to introduce ourselves to each other other than through a computer/laptop etc

Fantastic chap also Trevor, he took me and Kevin Sheedy for our first pint in the Market Tavern as it was then in Hereford. Sheedy went on to play for Everton and Ireland of course. I also attended John Charles's memorial service at the Bryngwyn Hall in Swansea (a ticket only occasion) supplied by clubs that you would have played with or been managed by the great man. It was full of celebrity football players, I was sat next to Mark Hughes who was the the manager of Wales

Scrum Half I played Trevor until Hereford Utd stopped me playing in case I got injured. I was signed at Hereford by the greatest football player ever to come out of Wales he was player/manager at the time. Charlo John Charles

Know the feeling Trevor, I actually done my senior schooling in Hereford due to my parents moving there when I was ten years old for work however, I was from Merthyr Tydfil therefore, streetwise and could handle myself to the quips being thrown at me being the new boy in school and it was nothing like the school I had attended in RAF (Rough as F*ck) Merthyr Tydfil where all schools were as hard as they got. When I moved back to Wales in my teens to take up an apprenticeship in the Coal mines I had to go through it all again having obtained a bit of a farmers accent and being regarded amongst the miners as a bit of a ponce because I played semi professional football for Hereford United. Again my right hander was enough to help me out.

Whats wrong with Lyndon? My wife is named Lyn Donovan
  12. Just thinking out loud buddy and something is telling me spark plug coils, never worked on or had a X-Type but I have experienced a coil pack failure on a 2.4ltr V5 Golf in the past and from what I remember sounds familiar.

What do they want for the wheels?
  15. Looks a fantastic example David, bit weary of the price but then its price / mileage = You will not get a better colour but the only thing that would spoil it for me is a roof but the others prefer not to have a rag top
  16. Spotted a fine looking XJS maroon in colour on the A470 between Merthyr Tydfil and Brecon today. Who was it? any member from the forum?
  17. Sorry Mark wouldn't like to hazard a guess there, you have attempted the obvious
  18. Croeso (Welcome) BB its good to have an online forum to turn to when you have something on your mind, don't quite understand or have a problem. You can be sure if you experience any of the aforementioned then others will have done therefore, answers should be in abundance. I'am also looking forward to Jaguar club meetings and the like, no doubt this will be after next spring now. I've only recently purchased my XKR so missed out out the fabulous summer albeit I still had the AMG then to drop the roof off. Take care buddy and have a pint of heavy for me KEN 33Y (yes thats my plate, also finished with the Taxi)

You're obviously having a little bit of a nightmare out there Graham, as for ideas none I'm sorry I can understand a brake failure through leakage on the master cylinder (my father had repaired it the previous day) which actually many years ago happened to me on my driving test. I brought the car to an halt using the gears and handbrake and the examiner was so impressed that he deemed that I was a proficient driver having brought the car to an emergency stop in difficult circumstances that he passed me. As for the wheels locking I have no explanation surely the reverse effect would be happening as if the master cylinder was locking on sending pressure on the wheel brake cylinders but if that were the case then all wheels would lock on and not individual ones.
  20. Jaguar are building up a nice reputation for designing new cars
  21. Excellent advice Luke however there is no real need to purchase a good code reader when there are one or two available free to download. I would highly recommend OBD2 then purchase a suitable lead to USB. I believe the S Type has a 16 pin plug / socket and a simple search for 16 pin to usb code reader OBD lead on ebay will bring up many. Just done a search for a lead and found this on Amazon which will even check if your car is compatable to the lead:.......http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cable-409-1-Support-VAG-COM-Diagnostic/dp/B0035ZX6U8 Seach on the software:..........http://sourceforge.net/projects/scantool/
  22. Quite right Peter, probably where the post should be.
  23. Certainly was Glyn especially after the year before, Nov 17th 1999 I was the electrical engineer turning the first floor of a multi storey car park into a Wilkinson store up in Blackpool. I was walking through checking on the progress of the lads work when 1 of the lads shouted down from a tower scaffold to me stating 'I've lost the power off my drill'. I followed his lead until I spotted it unplugged, bent down to plug it together and the next thing I remember was waking up in hospital many weeks later after coming out of intensive care and high dependancy. The builders still had people demolishing sections and they never baracaded an area off where they were dropping an air conditioning unit down complete with motor, straight on top of me it came smashing both my legs 6 breaks in 1 and 3 in the other, fractured skull and a few ribs. Took me 7 months to walk again.
