  1. Hi Luke, I have not looked into the supercharger pulleys yet, not had my XKR to look into really however, I did upgrade the pulleys on my SLK32 AMG and the gain was incredibly good although I also done a few other tweaks that may have pushed it up a little. The 32 was 347bhp standard but measured on a rolling road after my tweaks I was pushing 400. I did not feel it necessary to upgrade the cooling system. I would be interested if you find out a little more and now that you have mentioned it you have given me food for thought so I will be looking myself out of curiosity. If I find any info then I will pass it on.
  2. Croeso (Welcome) from the the land of song. Great car buddy enjoy the club if you have questions like most of us whether Jaguar related or not then you can be sure of answers
  3. Especially when they call themselves Newport Gwent Dragons when Newport as far as I remember was always in Monmouthshire
  4. Same colour as mine then Ernest to include the cream leather interior with the exception I have a XKR. Happy to see you are seeing the jovial side of the forum
  5. Durham! that is part of the Arctic Circle is it not? well they wear T'Shirts in January up there
  6. Good news Graham, good luck
  7. Don't know exactly how it works out there in Portugal Graham with regard to Trading Standard Laws etc however, if such an occurrence had happened in the UK and the Brake system had been fine prior to taking to your local garage then they would be held responsible for costs if it were proven that they had caused the problem. UK law works to the terminology of reasoning for example; Would the reasonable man expect an auto mechanic to have performed his/her work to ann expected standard that would not have caused harm, injury etc to the driver, passenger and to that of damage to the vehicle or of any of it components. That said we are not in the UK and albeit having studied law I do not have any understanding of the Portuguese Law although I would be going back to your local garage to explain the situation in full and inform them that if Jaguar find that they have botched up something then you will be expecting them to cover the cost and if they don't agree then you will be seeking legal advise.
  8. Croeso, Ernest, got to include a little Welsh to wind up all you Lloega's. Welcome to the club we all have questions to ask so please don't be afraid to ask
  9. Totally agree with you on that point Trevor, I've been saying that for years that way all the scumbags currently driving around with no tax would not be able to, and we would not have had to install cameras at an expensive cost to us all over the UK to catch them.
  10. I have 20" BBS wheels on the XKR and like to perform a regular tyre pressure check however with the pathetic time consuming find the valve and screw in the adapter system adopted it annoying especially, when you are at a garage and performing the action around the car when other motorists are queuing behind you obviously getting irate (I would). Is there an alternative or option to purchase valves on the wheels for these wheels on the market?
  11. Taken from the Parkers guide Charles and what gives a clearer explanation; The first-year ‘showroom tax’ is a way of attempting to deter people from buying the most polluting cars. For instance, if you were looking to buy a new car and the emissions were more than 255g/km then you would have to pay £1,030 for the first year. This then drops to the standard cost of £475 per year. The cars most affected by the first year tax are those in tax band H and above. If you buy a car in any of these bands you will have to pay more than the standard yearly rate of tax. My brother recently (git) bought the F-Type - S and the dealer gave him the first years road tax free. I also purchased a Citroen DS3 at the beginning of the year for my wife and again the dealer threw in the first years road tax free of charge in the deal. Again my Mother has bought a Voltswagon new last week with free tax. It appears that there is a trend by manufacturers to sell cars they are giving the first years road tax free.
  12. Charles, the first year rate is £1,095 however it falls into category M in the CO/2 calculator which means itt will be £500 per year thereafter. http://www.nextgreencar.com/car-tax/make-model/JAGUAR/F-Type+Coupe/
  13. All sounds a bit iffy there Scott, sound to me as if he is desperate to get rid of the car although I looked online and its quite easy to get hold of a ABS sensor
  14. Nice one Andrew, please of mind at last.
  15. In that case its got to be worth a try then buddy, good luck
  16. David, on giving the matter some consideration a scraping noise associated to the differential? Whining maybe! I don't know, doesn't help you but I would hate to see you go through all that hard work and expense for no result
  17. ha ha I was away on business last night and the hotel I stayed at had a big sign "DOG FRIENDLY" I though 'could have brought the wife'.
  18. Good luck, those screeching noises can be so annoying and frustrating
  19. hereafter can we call dealers; stealers and dealerships as stealerships
  20. The recovery company (Celtic Recovery, Cardiff, South Wales) repaired the CLK and returned it to me however, not with two new front tyres for which I requested. I got back in touch with the RAC who instructed the aforementioned company to recover my car therefore, it is down to the RAC to ensure the repairs and damage to include tyres are corrected in full. Both Celtic Recovery and the RAC retrospectively are declining to supply me with new tyres so I have now written to them advising that I have taken it on my own back to purchase new tyres to replace the defective front tyres caused by their agent due to the fact I do not wish to place myself, family or others in danger due to the defective tyres for which the are declining to replace. I furthered by requesting the names and contact details for the; 1. RAC Legal Department 2. RAC Personal Liability Insurance I will draft papers to serve in the County Court to recover my costs and damages
  21. Were there any wear shims attached to the pads?
  22. Not an idea on this one sorry without being there whereupon I would plug in my OBD2 reader and look for any fault codes.
  23. Well done, shows its worth while shopping around
  24. Anything is doable Jedo, if you are an hands on type of guy then bearings don't usually present any problems on saying that; I once decided to change the rear wheel bearings on my daughters MX5 she was at Univisity at the time and I thought I could save her (me) some mony doing it myself. Fine until I pulled the cotter pin out then could I undo the hub nut? a few hours and foul and abusive language later I managed it by placing an old ring spanner on the nut that slotted within a scaffold pole, in done the job though and I was a happy chappy
