  1. Yes got enough cufflinks to last me a lifetime, cup would need to be China although good Tee/Polo shirts may be good
  2. I can see where you are coming from, I live on the Brecon Beacons so can also be the victim of extreme weather conditions although, there is not a chance of me taking the XKR out if the temperature is below 10 deg C and shows signs of rain. Basically it will be boxed up in the garage between November and March. I don't know what tyres you have fitted at present, on my daily ride which I use 365 days a year (Mercedes CLK270) I fitted a set of AVON all weather which really do grip the road very well and quite quite. Might be worth you checking the website mytyres.com to see what they recommend
  3. For correct information under The Road Traffic Act [1988] They must have a normal size warning sign red circle, white inner depicting the speed limit prior to entering the zone then repeater signs smaller in size set at a distance of 500 mtrs apart throughout the zone until it ends when you will be advised with a round white sign with a black diagonal stripe through it indication that the zone ends and The National Speed Limit applies for the type of road you are on. Hope that helps. If anyone should be unlucky enough to be caught then you will receive notice by way of Section.172 of the RTA Road Traffic Act requesting information from the registered keeper of the vehicle to supply details of the driver for the time/date of the alleged offence. It is a criminal offence not to respond to this request with honest answers, remember a certain politician and his wife taken points along with a prison sentence for doing so?
  4. Actually Peter, unless they have repeater traffic speed limit signs then you have not broken the law. They can have as many cameras as they want on you but if the case went to the courtroom it would be thrown out if you can prove there was no signage repeated along the roadworks
  5. If its possible soak wherever you can over the threads with penetrating oil and leave for as long as possible. You may have to repeat the process before you are able to unscrew.
  6. So long as you are happy Scott then thats all that matters albeit I would still be suspicious main dealer or not especially to a car dealer stating "If we have a sniff of anything wrong then they won't release it". The first thing I would do for peace of mind is take it somewhere reputable that does 4 wheel alignment and get it checked out. If its out then take it back and demand your money back under The Sale of Goods Act [1979] Make sure you inform them of the act before taking the car and that you intend to have the vehicle independently looked at.
  7. Your link is incorrect, I would be interested when corrected in order that I may be in the position to send links to hints for Christmas presents. My family are forever commenting on how hard it is to buy a present for me and request hints
  8. Not owned an XJ so cannot comment on the model and sorry to hear of your misfortune obviously being disappointed hearing the news on arrival to sign the dotted line. Personally I would not now want the car, yes the bumper is cosmetic however, hitting the front near side alloy would leave me with suspicions to suspension / allignment damage therefore having very little trust in the car. Have you negotiated a discount because of such damage? Remember you have a 14 day period for which to change your mind, there must be an XJ out there with your name on it having not gone through remedial work. Good luck and welcome to the owners forum
  9. Thanks Peter, having moved over from Mercedes/AMG where I have had stainless fitted as standard from new I was expecting the same to the XKR. There are many stainless exhaust manufacturers in South Wales one of which has a superb reputation, I was just hoping that in the future I would not be needing their help with stainless lasting for so long many companies offering lifetime guaranties. Better start saving now then
  10. Can anyone inform me if Jaguar install a stainless steel exhaust as standard from new on the XKR? Thank you in anticipation of assistance!
  11. OK there appears to be many INDT's around Lloega (Welsh for England) but none have been mentioned in Wales South Wales in particular and preferably Swansea or surrounding area Any ideas or recommendations?
  12. Take it a little further north and climb Ben Nevis as a compromise
  13. Excuse me but I just followed on in the post, and we have a different alphabet but the calendar remains the same.
  14. You have to have quick wit Peter, the so called experienced Judges are not exactly top class either. I served on a jury for a murder trial whereupon the accused was a chap who allegedly murdered his wife. The jury was chosen and I was the only male selected. I sent a note via the clerk to the Judge advising that it would give grounds for appeal if convicted with an imbalanced jury and he ignored my advice. The chap was found guilty, later appealed on the grounds I mentioned and the case went on to the high court
  15. I have also made representation mostly in Road Traffic cases involving speeding. In one case the Judge turned to the CPS a fully qualified young attractive Barrister and uttered I would suggest young lady you leave the Court Room with Mr. Donovan and ask him for contact details should you need legal advise on any further RT offences. I won the case :D its all a bluff
  16. Much the same Trevor I live in a small village located on the A4059 better known as Richard Hammond's test track. I've seen him a few times, passed me once in an orange Lambo and I was doing the naughty ton in the SLK32 even worse when the Range Rover passed me full of cameras. I spoke with him later when he, his crew and I pulled into a lay-by where there is a virus van serving tea, coffee and bacon butty's
  17. I love the phrase 'Like minded people' The phrase was used in my younger days when in The Round Table with one of its moto's being Like minded men coming together for fellowship and ........ It was very true, I met some good men whilst in the Table and have many fond memories, wish I was still young enough to be part of it. Its a young mans organisation and you are expected to move on when reaching the age of 40, I was fortunate in that I was asked by a number of Chairmen to be the President which kept me in a little longer not having to move on to the 41 club ha ha
  18. Knob head, thats an obvious one the electrical charge holds the relay on, disconnect the power will release the relay's hold
  19. It helped Peter that I actually do have a LLB (Law Degree) even though I am an electrical engineer therefore, I knew all the right phrases and wording to use arguing my case. Always happy to help someone out if stuck
  20. Know what you are say Trevor, I was starting my electrical engineering apprenticeship down the coal mines at 15 and seeing so many fat lazy cannot repeat the word hanging around the likes of Wetherspoons winds me up big time.
  21. Like all cars it will be worth what you are willing to pay for it and what you believe you can get in return once in prime condition. The Mk.2 was an Icon in the Jaguar world and in my opinion still is up there with the best in style and elegance
  22. Brecon Beacons National Park, fantastic driving roads
  23. XKR - 4ltr V8 420bhp £359 - Admiral multicar
  24. I came out of the bathroom on Saturday morning to find my wife had picked up my clothes and stuck them in the washing machine. Like any sensible woman she checked the pockets (not) which contained the keys to the CLK which was parked at the front of the drive. Frantically, with someone coming over from Paris to collect my Son's car for which he had sold there I got the hair dryer out and kept a constant heat on the fob (we do not have a spare fob). Stuck the key into the ignition and it was not recognised. Panic stations called the RAC who retrospectively sent out a local recovery agent (Celtic Recovery) in all fairness he was not long attending and loaded my CLK on to the recovery vehicle and took in down to my parents house where there is a spacious drive. During this time the key fob was in my pocket. Whilst unloading the vehicle the alarm went off a couple of times and we tried the key fob again. On this occasion it was recognised and the car started and we could drive it off the back of the recovery vehicle. I assumed the fob had dried out with the heat in my pocket ha ha. I decided to leave the car there until Sunday evening not needing it until Monday for work. However on the way to work Monday the steering did not feel right so I took the car into National Tyres (I know the chaps there quite well) and they put it on the ramp for me. The pillock who rescued my vehicle had place his hooks on the track rod arms and now they are banana shaped. The RAC want me to pay for the damage to be repaired myself until they can investigate the issue which can take up to 20 days. I will be going through the Courts, It was the RAC who employed this company therefore, it is the RAC who is responsible for the damage in my mind and I truly believe the Judiciary would hold in my favour. The Judiciary look at matters through reasonability and would ask the question is it reasonable to expect a recovery company to be professional and know where they can and cannot hook up to on a vehicle. The car is supplied with an eye bolt which should have been employed for the task. Whats the members opinions Following the threat of legal action through the County Court for damages the Recovery Company have responded with the fact that they will come and collect my car (its unsafe to drive) and if they believe the damage was caused by themselves then they will repair it at no cost to me. I will also be expecting two new tyres. Furthermore, the RAC following legal threats have called me to advise that a hire car is on its way to me at no cost. I hope its not a Fiesta or the likes it won't compare to the CLK
