  1. I have just tried that Steve and still no joy , thanks anyway .
  2. Cheers Joe , just looked on youtube and yes looks straight forward . The abs and air bag lights are working its just the EML . If the led has been taken off i might just pop some new clocks in as they are fairly cheap on ebay . Regards , Andy.
  3. Cheers Joe i'm thinking the same on the dodgy dealing side . Apparently the EML is not part of the mot according to my mechanic and it has had a mot with no mention of it . How difficult is it to remove the clocks just to have a check ? any ideas ? Regards , Andy .
  4. Hi all , i really can't remember if i've asked this question before , i can't find any trace of it on previous posts so here goes . The problem is my engine management light does not illuminate at all on my 3.0 X - Type not even when the ignition is turned on . When i bought the car i didn't notice until the next day and upon plugging a code reader in it was flagging codes relating to emissions and my mechanic noticed it had new lambda sensors recently put on but was still high on emissions . He quickly identified the problem and cleared the codes . I was wondering if the previous owner was having problems with the emissions and some how disabled the EML to mask the problem or there could be some other explanation . Any ideas ??? Regards , Andy .
  5. I put Phillips Diamond Vision in mine at around £20 a pair and they make all the difference , plus they are a lot whiter as you can see.
  6. I had a MGF Trophy a few years back and " We Buy Any Car " offered me £460 for it . I sold it on Ebay for £1790 . As for your car realistically your probably looking at £1500 - £2000 . The market for large engined cars is smaller due to the running costs , so basically you can get a lot of car for little money . I paid £1200 for my 3.0 X-Type with 70,000 miles a year ago . Not the best time of the year to get top money for a car either unfortunately .
  7. Hi Fred , i have a 3.0 SE with leather seats which i find very comfortable , but what i find comfortable might not suit you . I think you actually need to sit in a car with different seats and see how they feel before you spend any money . Maybe there are members living nearby that could help you out . Regards, Andy .
  8. Well done Paul for keeping calm . Unfortunately i would have had a few different words than " ostentatious " to say to her lol . I am usually very polite and courteous , but faced with abuse i can give as good as i get . As for Old Peter that's a classic ha ha made me smile anyway.
  9. Great car there Chris , i would have one myself but as my x type only does about a thousand miles a year as a second car i can't justify the expense . I'm a taxi driver who needs a wheelchair accessible vehicle but a nice diesel xf would be on the cards if i ever lose my contract runs . As for the pink xj , that must have stood out from the crowd lol
  10. Hi Andrew , as Derek says there are a lot of knowledgeable and helpful people on this forum who will be more than happy to help you with any problems you may come across . I have found answers to several questions that have needed help with from the friendly members . Enjoy your car , nice powerful engine and good SE specification . Regards, Andy.
  11. Best bet would be to get a code reader on it to get a accurate idea of what the problem is . My local garage have never charged me for putting the code scanner on my car , i don't know how your local garage operates . Regards, Andy.
  12. That's a shame Peter , but i know how you feel . My x type has needed a few bits and bobs doing ( nothing major ) and i am very happy with it overall . My car drives fantastic , very smooth and responsive with no rattles from inside or outside . On the other side of the coin i have had cars that i have had problem after problem with and you get to a point where it grinds you down and you think enough is enough it's going . My point is that you get good and bad in any make of car and a lot depends on how previous owners have looked after them and just down to bad luck . Sometimes once you get one problem then several more appear if your unlucky .My Jag is a second car as it's a 3.0 L petrol but iv'e had lots of problems in the past with diesel cars with egr and dpf problems . I hope your next car is trouble free. Regards, Andy.
  13. You was lucky there then.10 m on a slope is a fair way. You was very lucky that no serious damage was done or anyone injured. A lesson there for everyone to learn. Regards, Andy.
  14. Great cars Neil , i'm sure you will enjoy it . A very good move joining this club . I've found it very friendly and very helpful. There are some knowledgeable people on here who seem more than happy to help you out with any problems you may come across . Happy motoring, Andy.
  15. Some problems are a nightmare to find so glad you have got to the bottom of it , and a cheap fix .
  16. I've been in the dj game for years and a smoke machine inside your car will easily show up EXACTLY where any small gaps / splits in door seals etc are . If you know a local dj or mobile disco operator it will be worth having a word and slipping them a few quid for a quick borrow.

  18. Very nice Stephen ,beautiful cars , get some photos up when you get it . Regards, Andy.
  19. Shame you don't know somebody on the force who can do a crafty check .
  20. Best of luck John , let us all know how you get on . Regards, Andy.
  21. Very strange that Martyn. I recently upgraded my headlight bulbs on my 2003 x type to Phillips Diamond Vision and side lights to Phillips X-treme Vision led and they both work fine on mine . Maybe you could give Osram a quick e-mail to see if they can shed any light on it . Or if you bought them from a local autoparts shop maybe having a word with them . Let us know how you get on , i'm sure there will be a simple solution . Regards . Andy .
  22. Hi Peter , my X- type doesn't have the indicators on the wing mirrors but the plastic outer casing on my mirrors just pulls away with a small amount of force . Maybe yours are the same design ? I took one of mine off recently to give it a coat of paint to remove a scratch and it came off really easy . Regards, Andy.
  23. Sorry to hear that John . Will you be getting another one ? What mileage was on it out of curiosity ? Regards Andy.
