  2. Hi, I have a 2008 jaguar XKR which I have had nearly 4 years and apart from regular services and normal replacement parts it has never given me any problems until today. Went out for a short trip and decided to recline my seat slightly but it went back a bit far so pushed the button to bring it upright but it would not move up, all other seat functions are OK apart from that the strange thing is the passenger seat has the same fault, I have checked the fuses F29 through F32 and all ok, tried the window reset still the same, also disconnected the battery for a couple of hours but no change, battery is new (Replaced 6 weeks ago) it was fine before we left as I did adjust it before we went out. any pointers or help would be great as I dread to think how much Jaguar will charge for diag. Thanks all.

  4. back in the 70's neighbour had a dark red XJ that we used to stare at as kids. mesmerised that it had dual fuel tanks, which as a kid was very cool. Smell of the creaky leather.. nice.
  5. Thanks Jim, that's the best advise and illustration I have had so far, much appreciated.
  6. Hi Martin I am Jim or Spyderromeo I have owned both car and can comment on both the X308 was my chariot for 23 years I bought it new in 2000 for £54.000and sold it last year for £250 as a bag of rust, the outside looked the same as it came out of the factory, but the underside was like a piece of lace curtain. But it was the best car I ever owned ask me anything you want about ownership. I now own a XKR but I can only comment on a few very exciting weeks of ownership, The only negative I can say about owning one is the stupid and ridiculous price of road tax. but I could say the same about the X308. The XKR has all the signs of being the best car in the world for the price. if it carry's on like it has done I will be very happy. Spyderromeo

  8. There is just a possibility that you have programmed the boot lid to not open properly/ fully: try opening the boot to its full height and pressing and holding for 10 seconds the boot close button: if it has been programmed to open to any other point on the cycle, this should reset it.

  10. Jimbov you are an absolute star! the first few mins of the video show exactly what I wanted. It even had a little tip to stop damage to the chrome on the plastic next to it. Thank you I just wasn't sure anyone would answer such a random question never mind such a fabulous accurate close up how to do it. Providing the weather is okay I will change over to a nice new shiny chrome number plate area. It is a new car to me and when I bought it the paintwork on the whole light cluster was a bit rough and really the only item that needed attention. Thanks again Spiderromeo

  12. Send your friend to the Jaguar Classic Parts website and browse there to find his model and all of the relevant parts diagrams. Link here: Xk8 Coupe/convertible 1997 - 2006 (x100) Classic | Jaguar Land Rover Classic Parts he will need to know his VIN - number in the bottom corner of the windscreen. N6 JMX
  13. 14. Hi guys, new to this forum for a family friend. I'm looking for a set of these bushes for an XKR 2002. just wondering if anyone could find a part number, correct name, or a website which may have them? i'm not too clued up on jaguars myself so i thought id find some more knowledgeable people here to may have some advice! thank and and any help at all is much appreciated. EDIT: In addition to this 2 rear wishbones too left and right? thank you.
  15. The one I have installed (2013 XF Luxury) is at this link. It works well, and I know others have installed it into XFs too. It is a little fiddly to fit but I would say I was very average at stuff like that and managed it fine. There is a good YouTube installation walkthrough available.
  16. I have a 2009 XK 4.2, looking at rustproofing the underside, could anyone recommend a treatment centre in the West Kent/M25 area, thanks
  17. OK thanks I'll give those a try and let you know.
  18. The ZF 6HP26 is so reliable few people have ever asked. The most common fault is when a garage runs the engine without any oil in the transmission. This breaks the pump in the transmission, I have heard of a fire in the transmission that cooked 3rd and 4th. Otherwise a service changing the filter and fluid fixes it. What's the problem?
  19. Thanks for the replies, refurb will happen when the tyres are due a chance, will get them colour matched for a touch up first. Happy safe motoring Terry
  20. Working through the AC system on my X350 looking for an elusive leak, I got confused over pipe diameters and thought my charging manifold was wrongly labelled. The LP side is the larger diameter but the charging point is smaller than the HP one. It seems a strange idea to put the small diameter connector on the larger diameter pipe but that seems to be the norm. 🤔. I'm hoping that the new condenser will solve the problem but time will tell.
  21. Welcome to the forum, enjoy.😊
  22. many thanks.i'll drop them a note
  23. That's very interesting, I bought one of these for the my old XJR but had to remove it. Unfortunately the wired FM adaptor only has two switchable frequencies that it outputs on, which are right on top of where BBC Radio 2 sits on the FM band, so all I ended up with was FM 'bleed through' (even when the aerial feed was bypassed) This is because the signal strength is so good where I live that I can get full stereo reception on all of the BBC stations without an aerial plugged into the head unit !
  24. Hi Stuart, The Jaguar part number is AJ810959 however, the Ford part number for the same thing and much cheaper is 6W83-6A642-AA. Hope this helps.

  27. Hi Steve. What pictures do you require? I have left most of the interior, side glasses, some engine parts, chrome parts. Ivan
  28. i'll say x260, mainly due to x250 issues eliminated (i.e. cracked manifolds) as well as no rusty rear subframe (x260 is alu), when today, x250 is at very high risk of. go for xfs 3.0 v6 diesel (as you know already, 2.0d ingenium is very risky one to own), very reliable and great mpg for what it is. mapped mine to 350bhp/780nm's and i'm getting 50-53mpg on motorway cruise at motorwaty speeds. x260 xfs's are usualy very well specced as well, but need to watch out for thigs you want to have, as with x260 nearly everything came as option 🤨 so don't think it wil definitely have it, same as x250, when nearly everything was as std. good luck and keep us posted.
