  2. Welcome aboard Jim. Sorry to hear of the fate of your XJ but things sometimes happen that way - might not seem like it at the time but it's probably for the best. Hope you enjoy Zero!

  4. Having switched my allegiance from SAAB to Jaguar in or around 2008, purchased my first XF (Diesel second hand ) in 2010. See below next to my last Saab which I also still have. Owned two further XFs before switching to my current 2017 XF-S supercharged petrol. Love this car and will probably hang on to it forever 😜 . No intention of switching to EV despite test driving a Tesla S in 2019 ( ludicrous mode is exactly what it is) .
  5. Hi, new member here! I'm on my 5th Jag (XJS, XKR, XJ, XJR and currently driving about in a XJ 3.0i petrol Supersport with Blackpack murdered out spec). Invested in a SeaSucker the other week and just wondered if anyone else has tried them. Thanks Hugo
  6. Not done it myself but you warm the badge up with a hair dryer and use fishing line to remove the badge. If you're not a fisherman, I believe that dental floss makes a good alternative! 😉

  9. Good luck with the sale, but can't help think it would be better to have posted in the Marketplace Section of the Forum, at the bottom of the page. Unlikely folks are going to come looking in the Model Section of the Forum for cars up for sale. N6 JMX
  10. Great news Steve and thanks for the update.
  11. Thanks very much for your comments. Regards Alan
  12. Still available, I don't have an XJR to put it on !
  13. Only SDD/IDS can access immobiliser faults. Then you can remove the battery sounder and strike it off the dealer options. A fault signal from the battery sounder will trigger the main alarm. Diagnostics will tell you if a module is playing up, all in all recommended. Until then you are doing as much as you can.
  14. Good luck with the sale and sorry to hear of your diagnosis. Reminds me of my first Jag ~30 years ago, Sov 4.2, same colour and year on an Irish "private" plate. Visually very similar externally but interior is very different and obviously it was missing 6 cylinders!
  15. There's a classifieds / for sale section at the bottom of the Forum pages - go there. N6 JMX
  16. I travel regularly by ferry. Just use only the first click which locks but doesn't set the alarm. Second click dies set the alarm
  17. Hi my sovereign 2008 76k miles has just failed its MOT. Nothing mechanical. Rather the dust covers need replacing on the wishbone and track rods. But the garage are insisting that it's impossible to just replace the dust covers, the wishbone and track rods need replacing. The covers are too badly damaged Is this correct its an extra £1200? They changed the anti roll bar covers last year without any trouble. Any help is much appreciated. Steve
  18. Airlocks in the cooling system? Can cause excess pressure in the expansion/header tank and force coolant out leaving even more air in the system. Top up each morning when cold and try to park overnight with the front of the car nose down if the expansion tank is by the bulkhead like in the S Type or if the expansion tank is near the front, face uphill to help get the air out.
  19. i was outside my house working on a friends car and randomly heard my xtypes engine fan rev up. thought was weird because key was not in or near car. came up with security failed on dash. started the car in the hopes it would fix it, and it wouldn't turn off at ignition at all, only way was to disconnect fuel pump relay and unhook battery to stop power going to dash and lights . have checked all fuses/relays. and just cant figure out whats wrong with it. perhaps ignition barrel? or worse?
  20. I have the same problem. Mechanic disconnected the battery without realising I didn't have the code. I had assumed there would be one in the wad of documentation I received when I bought the car last January but no luck. Would appreciate any further suggestions to those above. Thanks.

  22. First post to the forum, does anyone have recommendations for a quality supplier of a rear seat cover and complete all-weather car cover? Its for a 2009 XK8 convertible, thanks
  23. Hi, my XK8 has been off the road for a couple of years and i need to get it moving again but am strugglimg to find a reliable and affordable garage/ mechanic in the or around London that is familiar with Jags. Some bodywork needed and brakes work. Can anyone recommend someone please? Much appreciated everyone. Thank you so much
  24. Hi Robert Did you manage to sort this issue?
  25. XE petrol, 250hp, auto, (X760) 2018, only done 32K. Whilst driving back from Southampton in the UK, battery and charging system error pops up on dashboard. A/C stops working so I turn it off. Charging message disappears. Turn A/C on again, still not working but charging error reappears. I start to smell something hot, burning. Got close to home and engine overheating warning pops up. Lots of blue smoke behind car. Reverse into my driveway and stop engine. Serious amount of smoke, lift bonnet and coolant bubbling away. Left vehicle alone for about 3 hours to allow it to cool down. Returned to the car and found the problem straight away. Crankshaft pulley has become detached from its hub and the grooved outer part has slipped forwards. The charging, A/C and water pump were not being driven by the slipping grooved outer part of the pulley. So, that's the problem. I'm quite capable of doing the work myself but there is a lack of information in the form of workshop manuals or even my usual goto, YouTube. Can anyone offer advice or direct me to a source of material that would step me through the process of swapping the crankshaft pulley on an XE Sport 250?
  26. Could somebody advise me on the rough value please ?
