About myself & new car problem!
unlucky alf replied to unlucky alf's topic in New Members Introductions
Many thanks John, The guy i got the car from said that he had the sills replaced so i am hoping that worry is eliminated, Somebody did tell him that the smoke could be the turbo but as I cant smell oil in the smoke I figured that wasn't the issue, But saying that my knowledge of turbo's is very little. The coolant level is a bit difficult to monitor as the car isn't being used but a good sniff of the expansion bottle & a visual check shows no sign of contamination & no sign of custard on the oil filler cap either, I will try the hanky thing & see what colour that catches, (hopefully not a pinky colour!) but smelling it it has a strong smell of diesel, This is the first diesel engine I have had to attack as i have never had issues with one before so pretty much going in blind, As it is a right pig to start from cold I have ordered some glow plugs to see if that will at least help the starting problem, I will report back on any progress (if any) is made. -

2003 S type unable to start following fob battery replacemen
JOE-DOT-COM replied to Tonna75a's topic in Jaguar S-Type Club
Hi By the sounds of it the transponder chip has fell out of the fob when you have take the key/remote apart the battery only effects the opening and closing of the car doors, starting is by a transponder chip in the remote, there two types of transponder chip and small black plastic type chip, about 10mm long and a cylindrical glass type chip, if it wont start this is missing you need to find it and slot it back in the key part of the remote/key pics below, but the are only about 10mm long cheers joe - Last week

I possess a 3.5 SE Type, which I bought brand new in 2002. I put the car into the garage for a few repairs under the bonnet. It was at this time that the Garage informed me that the sills (both sides) are rusted badly! The car is now scrap and off the road, but mechanically & the interior are in good condition. I would like to get rid of the car to make room for another vehicle. Therefore, I was wondering if anyone is interested in having the car for spare parts?

Thank you very much

Strip light in front drivers side head light is dim,
N6 JMX replied to Tweezle's topic in Jaguar XE Club
Dim lights usually points to a poor earth connection. Check the earth point for corrosion on the relevant headlight. N6 JMX- 1 reply

Hi, is this still available and where are you based? Thanks

The most likely cause of a drain that large is the “alarm chirp sounder”. The internal batteries degrade over time and short out causing the drain. Disconnect it and then see what happens.

A little update. I left the car unlocked for 12 hours - I know stupid, then again in the search for knowledge and all that - the alarm did not set nor did it go of when I got in. Next is to lock the car with one blip and get a group of us to wobble bounce and general upset it to see if the motion sensors get set off Stay tuned!

Hi, just trying to figure out where abouts this photo was taken? I have a very wet foam under my carpet of my 2013 XF Sprotbrake. Had the hose on the NS for a good 40 minutes with the carpets up and nothing came in. Also had the engine running for a time and couldn't see any ac drain from underneath Thanks!

!Removed! hell, your fault? an insult if you ask me...yeh i would speak to dealer principal, if they won't even entertain the idea, legal action full on.

if you had tiny rattle at first then the damage was not done then, it was just the beggining of the chain problem. they f it up on replacement as there is no way it got worse after the replacement on it's own. you might be in for long and winded 'battle' with this one. i would go and look for 2nd opinion in good independent jag garage. and wouldnt be driving it either as the result might engine failure.

The SV8 was the top of the range XF from 2008-2009, using the 420 BHP version of the supercharged 4.2 V8 engine, which was used previously in the S-TYPE R, XJR and XKR models. The XFR came out in 2009, and used the newer 5.0 Supercharged V8 engine with 503 BHP. The SV8 was discontinued when the XFR was launched, hence it's rarity, only being in production for 1 year. It was marketed as a 'Luxury performance' version, hence not being badged as an 'R' model.

Thanks for approving my membership, Just purchased my third Jaguar XJ, first was 1975 series 2 4.2 second was an 1994 3.2 XJ40 Gold and this week a 1995 XJR. It's my second car so ready for cruising. Been car mad since I was a nipper. I'm sure if I have any questions this is the place to get answers. Right I'm off for a quick tour of the Cotswolds, think I'd better fill her up John.
