  3. I think the radar window looks funny sticking proud of the grill like that. I also think the grill's "holes" should be painted black and just the front face left as chrome.
  4. Hi Alan, check out the Scottish Jaguar Enthusiasts Day happening at the Riverside Museum in Glasgow on Saturday the 29th of June 2024. This is one of the few opportunities to meet and chat with fellow Jaguar enthusiasts north of the border and without making a 600 mile round trip to somewhere in the south. There is further information on this Forum, in the Events section near the bottom of the page, but if you cannot locate it and want more information, send me a PM and I will get back to you. N6 JMX
  5. For a few months, the auto trans warning light has come on intermittently. Usually, or always on a cold start. I had a fluid and filter change done. However, on picking the car up, the garage said that the filter was not the metal box type filter, but a mesh one. I can't find any info to mention a mesh filter. They cleaned it out. But the light can still come on. Usually the light doesn't come on the third start and the car runs perfectly. The car is a japanese import and many of the specialists I've contacted don't like the thought of that. But a gearbox is a gearbox. Can anyone help please?
  6. Hi everyone, I've only just discovered the Jaguar Owners Club, having owned a number of Jaguars over recent years. My wife first had an XF 3.0d Premium Luxury, which was closely followed by my own 2010 XK Portfolio. I then got a 55 X-Type Estate. The XK was traded for an 2013 XF Sportbrake, the last year I bought a 2007 XKR. We have also had a 2020 E-Pace (possibly my least favorite of them all). Looking forward to reading about your own Jaguar experiences and sharing my latest adventures with you all. Happy driving, Alan

  10. Thanks for prompt response, Jim. I wonder if you or any other members have any contacts or recommendations on the salvage operators? I have web-searched and most didn't look great. However one - Scrapcarcomparison - for whom I put in some details - got back to me in person very fast & professionally, looked at detail, offered £500, and claimed it would go to restoration not scrap & crush. No push/hard sell. I am looking at other options (including fix with lower cost mechanics) before I jump and would welcome thoughts from members. Robert
  11. Hi Robert, unfortunately there are many beautiful X-100 cars around, but the beauty is only on the surface. The ungalvanized steel bodies are very prone to rust, with many built-in water traps that, unless carefully managed, will practically guarantee MoT failure as you have just experienced. You are right in thinking that the online scrappers will not treat you as fairly as one might, but there are a number of specialist Jaguar Breakers who would be interested in your car - it will still have a lot to offer and one never knows, there may be some folks out there who are wanting a "Project". I recently, a few years back now, had a request for assistance from someone who needed rid of a car with similar issues to what you describe. Before committing the machine to an inglorious end, I advertised the car in specialist Jaguar Classifieds for a very reasonable sell price and had several takers. You may wish to consider that option as well. Keep us posted here on what you finally decide. N6 JMX
  12. Hello al,,, After 3 strokes but still luvin the jag XJ 2.7 diesel X350, mot time & I was asked why no ABS light when turning on the ignition. I really can't remember if I've ever seen it light up before. The mot man says yes the mechanic says no. Can't get the mot done & its 3 months on now. Any one have the same car . Thanks
  13. I have owned a still beautiful Phoenix Red 1998 first reg XKR coupe since 2006, third owner. Although used regularly throughout its life it's genuine mileage is only about 90,000, and it has been well maintained. Unfortunately on latest MOT it has been comprehensively failed on major suspension faults with problems of chassis rust at critical points, with the result that a fix will require complete strip out of front section of the car. With further similar issues on the way (note as advisories) and some small incipient body issues. Impact is a repair bill well in excess of the car's value and garage (thoroughly reputable and knowledgeable) recommend scrapping as only viable option. Any suggestions? At very least the superb engine, gear box etc should go to a good home? I am concerned that the online "scrap my car merchants" will not only con me, but also that the car will literally be scrap metal. Knocking on 78 and not technically competent, reckon I am past " a project". Help?
