When I put my foot down, especially on a hill there is a vibration. It will stop as soon as I reach cruising speed. Any ideas what may be causing this? My car has done 165000 miles.

Sounds to me it could be a misfire, seeing has it only does it under load, and not when cruising.

Many thanks. Forgot to say my car is a 2.7 diesel and is not misfiring.

Hi Anthony,

I also have a 2.7 diesel and these cars pull very well.  I gave mine a Terraclean service about 6 months ago and it made the world of a difference and well worth the £120.

I was also advised not to use supermarket fuel.  I stopped using it and such with the local Shell station, and every now and then gave the engine a taste of the expensive stuff.

Regards,

Peter.

Thanks Peter. I'll try the proper diesel and might have a terra clean in the spring.

I had a XJR which did the same turned out to be the propshaft. As soon as I changed it over the car drove perfectly.

Many thanks for your input. Someone else mentioned the prop shaft or part of it. Did you change the whole shaft or part of it?

I'm looking into to changing the prop shaft.
