Thought I'd put this out there jest had my 3lt XF diesel serviced by an independent garage for £100 cheaper than Jaguar B service £329 all I wanted was that they used the correct Oil ( which they did) wasn't bothered if the filters were genuine Jag parts so in short the money I saved I used to have it Terracleaned what a difference it made gained an extra 6 mpg on running around local so don't know what difference it will make on a long run but can't wait to get it on the-motorway to see what it will do

hope this helps anyone thinking of getting it done

Hi Adrian,

The first long run I had after having my s type terracleaned --- 90 miles --- was  half on motorway with a speed restriction to 50 mph and the rest city and some dual carriageway I achieved 50.6 mg. The return journey with some motorway without restrictions and heavy traffic on the other roads brought the average down to 46.4.

I usually get about 33 mpg from a tankful without any long runs.

Hi,

I've seen blogs on this and have thought of having mine done.

Has anyone had this done on the 4.2 engine, and with what results?

Cheers'

I'm still undecided as to whether to have it done, mainly because my car is doing the mpg jaguar say it should.

I also tend to think that in using Shell and not supermarket fuel the system is being cleaned.

Hi Graham,

Terraclean is more beneficial for diesel engines, and if you are getting a good mpg with your XK,  I would personally not bother.  I was advised to use "Forecourt" fuel and I always use Shell V Power in my S Type Diesel.

The fact that the local Petrol station is Shell and  I get bonus points makes the use of premium fuel cheaper that the pump price!

Peter.
