S Type 3.0SE 2004 retro fit phone/bluetooth/voice recgnition

Featured Replies

Hi everybody, I'm new to the Forum which I must say looks the business! It has a great layout. I wonder if anyone can help but I'm thinking of retro fitting phone/Bluetooth and voice recognition to my 04 S Type 3.0SE and would like to know what parts I would need. The car has touchscreen Nav/climate/audio. I wondering if it would have been factory prewired to take the extra modules needed. I would be grateful for any advice. Cheers Willie

Welcome to the club, Willie.

I was quite happy when I found my s type did not have voice recognition, as being from Lancashire I would have had to get to to talk properly.

However, there are several members with great electrical skills,  and I am sure Paul [Raistlin] will be able to assist.

Regards,

Peter.

Ha ha, thank you Peter. Saying that, my wife's from Hamiton and our phones understands what she's saying but not me! All the besrt Willie

It can be done William.  Denis and I have done that sort of installation several times before. We can do the lot in half a day, along with loads of other retro-fits.

There are several components, as you surmised, to be bought and the D2B fibre optic network cable needs re-working with the addition of several D2B terminals in the network. The electrical wiring will already be in place, although sometimes well concealed. Have you got a CD changer in the boot? This is a common retro-fit done at the same time as the Voice, Bluetooth etc.

If you go ahead, do you intend to retro-fit yourself or will you bring your car to us? Denis (who breaks Jaguars) provides all the parts at considerably less than commercial breakers prices and we do the fitting, including any of the specialist SDD diagnostics that will be required, free of charge.

Alternatively, Denis can provide the parts by post for you to do the installation yourself.

Any help to you?

Hi Paul, thank you for replying to my post and thanks for the very  kind  offer of fitting it all for me but I'd probably do it myself. It will give me something to do I've got access to  a garage workshop. If Denis could supply all the  parts needed that would be great and if you could supply and wiring diagram/fitting procedure that would be most helpful. The diagnostics I can get done so no problem there. It does have a CD changer in the boot along with the Nav DVD unit. All the best Willie

Hi WIlliam,

It seems as though Joe has already answered all your needs elsewhere?

I'm sorry, it looks like I've upset you guys. Lookin for the best of both worlds and not really thinking

My apologies to you both

Willie

Hi

I don't mind, it just seems strange why some people would ask the same questions, on different forums, when they get reply's

you generally get the same answers, its fair enough if you don't get any reply's for your questions, then try else where

but I've noticed it a lot, I flick through a lot of forums, at least 4 jaguar ones and many others, as I own a few cars and a few motorbikes

and some do ask the same questions on as many forums as they can, in the hope to get instant answers and help

but sometimes people get fed up of answering the same questions, because they too, browse a few forums and see what questions are being asked, some forums have stickies at the top of each sections, where common questions are kept, so they don't have to repeat them selves again

but you'll find 90% of the questions people ask have all ready been answered and if you use the search bar at the top of the page, you can find the answers to most questions instantly, as it will of been asked many times before

cheers

Joe

Not at all Willie.

Just didn't see the point of me going through the same info that Joe has already done for you.
