Hi everyone i am THINKING of may be putting a leaping cat on my x type but will this be a problem as i thought

these were not allowed unless it breaks off or retreats under the bonnet in case of a accident god forbid a pedestrian

is involved any one with any thoughts.

Hi

the ones for the S-type and X-type are of the springer type

the leaper rotates under spring tension and would almost surely break off if hit by something

so if you look for one you want the sprung leaper

cheers

Joe

thanks to you both joe and peter  for the information, Peter you say you got a stick on one I have looked at loads

of leaping cats but I must admit I haven't seen a stick on one where did you get that peter if you don't mind me asking.

I got mine from eBay just like the one Joe just showed It is very well made and I really like it on the car

very easy to fit because if you look on the under side of the bonnet the hole is in the second skin so a

small drill first .???

You will need to conform to EC directive 74/483 that it will depart from the plinth below a force of 10dAN if struck by a object.

So unless it's a genuine Jaguar supplied I would think twice about buying on eBay. I speak from experience of in the past after pleading not guilty and ending up in county court with the police prosecuting me and only being found not guilty by supplying the dealer invoice and a letter from Jaguar that it conformed fully to the EC directive.
