Hi to all.

I have an X-type estate 4x4 2.5l. 2004/5

Body is very good for the year.

Some minor niggles - as below:-

Petrol filler cap does not work - I suspect the solenoid.

Petrol is VERY slow to fill - anyone know why?

Funny noise on very gentle braking to a halt - never on hard braking or at any other time.

Any help with my problems gratefully received.

Welcome to the club, Andy.

You could be right about the petrol filler cap, but there are electrical experts who will assist.

In respect of slow fuel intake I would check if there is some kind of blockage --  gently.

Noise on gentle braking  ---  does it sound a bit like metal on metal?

I used to work at Shotton works from 1962 until 1971, and lived in Shotton for 4 years.

Regards,

Peter.

Thanks Peter,

The noise only happens on very gentle braking at low speeds usually when coming to a halt but not always !!

It only happens for a second or so and sounds like "kerrshoo-kershoo" .

Sometimes it is louder than others.

Definitely not metal on metal - the front pads were changed by a previous owner about 1000m ago.

I had been told by my local garage that this is quite common in Xtypes and is caused by a dirty ABS ring/sensor?
