P0753 Shift solenoid A

Hello Folks,

My names Dan and I'm a new Jaguar owner. I recently bought a 2007 Xtype 3.0 auto. I bought it through Copart so it has some issues. 1 of them is the P0753 fault which torque pro lists as shift solenoid A. Would anyone have a part number for shift solenoid A? Thanks in advance for any help.

However I didnt give thought to the fact it just didnt have enough fluid to build proper pressure. 

On a good note though if that doesnt fix it I found the solenoid to fix it. Thanks again

hi

from that fault sound like the solenoid is faulty

according to the code open circuit, there different colors you need to find out which one it is

I take it its the ZF 6HP26

also the solenoids can be changed by just removing the sump/filter

removing the sump/filter will also give you a idea of the condition, if Oil is clean

they can be bought off eBay individual or in sets, either genuine or aftermarket

Thats why I was looking for a part number when I posted this. Its just the 1 solenoid popping up an error. If it were fluid I would expect to to effect them all. I have no real clue though and ATF isn't that expensive to check. It's not like royal purple in the cougar costing 20-24 bucks a quart.

I found the entire solenoid set on eBay for around 105 bucks though so I may go ahead and swap them out first anyway. As far as Im aware they have 266K miles on them so it may be time anyway.

hi

if its the ZF 6HP26, you need special Oil, it has to be ZF Lifeguard 6

you can't use normal ATF

the TCM for the gearbox, is actually inside the gearbox, submersed in Oil, using the wrong Oil will damage it

also the gearbox holds nearly 11 litres of oil, dropping the sump/filter will only drop about 6.5 litres ,the rest stays inside the Torque converter, so mixing oils is also not a good idea

Unless those are all generic photos mine doesnt look anything like that. Thats a rearwheel drive trans. I have a transverse mounted drivetrain so it looks just like a front wheel drive trans. And I believe is a variation of the ford CD4E trans.

I bought it wrecked and am working on getting it back on the road. The first time I drove it is when I discovered it wont shift higher then 2nd or 3rd. All I can say is its a 3.0 automatic.

HI

looking at yours, it may not have the zf gearbox

look at the J-gate gearchange, if it only goes from 2 to 4 on the left hand side then its a 5 speed and not the zf

the zf box on the left goes from 2 to 5 on the left of the j-gate

if its the 5 speed then normal atf can be used and parts are cheaper as a rule

mine stops at 4. So yay regular ATF it is. Thats good to know, i was worried for a second. Looking at some videos though on youtube I found one guy was having a similar problem with his and it turned out to be a faulty ABS module causing issues with the rest of the system. Im also getting a fault for both front ABS sensors, Im wondering if that could be an issue as well.

hi

abs sensor failure can cause lots of problems on some gearboxes

some gearboxes rely on abs sensors for speed reference and can make them very irregular and jerky gear changes

I would start with fixing the abs first

Yeah I'm looking that over when I get home if its warm enough in the garage. Thinking back to when I had the front end apart I may have forgotten to plug the ABS sensors in. Silly me. It would be nice if it really is that simple. If not I have enough info with the links you posted that I should be able to figure it out. Thanks for those.

      Note that we do have two entrances available, one is exhibitors gate at the bottom of the hill as you come in to Beaulieu, with the other being the normal Simply event entrance within the attraction.       Entry with your Jaguar is from 9am – 2pm. Please make sure you have your ticket printed or available on your phone, ready to be scanned on arrival.

      Cars cannot leave and re-enter the grounds for the Simply rallies.

      CLUB STAND ATTENDEE LIST

      We do ask for a final update on numbers 2 weeks prior to the event following which we will send out club labels to you via email for you to then distribute out to club members. Club members then need to print and display these in their windscreen on arrival. This helps us then park you all in your club area together.
