Ok I'm new on here , and just searching around, not very well at the moment , may too new .

I am trying to help another Jag enthusiast out to get his key fob working again for opening ,shutting doors , is there a specific sequence , not unlike my RR which pressing three times and confirming settings etc.

Amongst other things seems like a nice car X type 3.0L

Hi Patrick, Welcome to JOC!:yahoo:

Yes there is. Make sure you have all the keys you want to pair with the vehicle available.

  1. Open drivers door.
  2. Turn ignition switch between Position 1 and 2... four times. You should hear a confirmation chime.
  3. Turn Ignition off and remove the key.
  4. Press any button on fob within ten seconds (preferably 'Unlock') You should, again, hear a confirmation chime
  5. Other key fobs can be paired by pressing any button (again preferably 'Unlock') You should hear a confirmation chime for each additional fob. I believe a maximum of four fobs can be paired per vehicle.
  6. Close the door.
  7. Confirm operation of paired fobs.

Ok thanks tried that and no chime , so have split the fob to check the battery but I don’t want to go further without knowledge of how I get to the battery, can’t see it, would the battery be instrumental in synchronising the set up .

Got chime now , so I need to know about battery in fob and how to access it  please.

That's great , now changed cleaned , buttons full of Verdigris so now cleaned and appear to pop up and down , reassembled but cant get the second chime to confirm synchro?

I was hoping to move to next thread to resolve rear door not opening as I think unless the lock ing fob works it might not synchronize door , inner handle out .

How ever sticking to the point , is it possible the battery might not be up to it , its showing 2.96 v .

Perseverance saves the day , thanks for your help guys , deeper cleaning and attention to detail has the fob working and since then the door card has been off , the inner release handle was stuck in its mechanism and had permanently locked the door , all working now . Just the dreaded corrosion on the chassis behind the front wheel , time for a ramp job
