Prior to buying the XF I had a Vauxhall Insignia on 20" wheels. The test drive seemed OK but once driving it regularly I did not like the ride and fitted smaller diameter wheels.

That was replaced with a 2013 XFS Portfolio Sportbrake once again on 20" wheels. However, was quite happy with the ride so you should not have any problems with the ride.

Good choice going for the Portfolio as there are some nice extras - though I am unsure exactly what extras on the pre-facelift as I had a post-facelift.....mind you I was quite surprised what were optional extras that on other makes would have been standard on top of the range models.

Thanks.  Good to know that 20” wheels are an acceptable ride.

Hi David,

That`s so disappointing. That has happened to me

1 owner turned out to be 4

immaculate condition - rust and bumper damage

it was not what I was expecting at all.

You will find what your looking for.

Best Regards,

Julie.

Plenty out there to choose from, it is a shame, would recommend the front and rear sensors they are big cars and usually take up an entire parking space 😁

It happens, the problem I have living in the Lake District is that there aren’t any XF’s at all to look at, certainly not in my budget.  Trying to buy remotely is tough as it will involve a long and expensive train journey to see a vehicle, so I have to rely somewhat on the honesty of the seller.    I will find one though!

L know, not much choice where i live either.

unfortunately honesty with some sellers seems to be in short supply.

Do not rush in to anything.

Good luck with the search.

My VX Insignia was top of the range and had front sensors and camera as standard. My XF Portfolio gad these but they were an optional extra! I only have facelift brochures. Go on to eBay and buy sales brochure and price list for the pre-facelift, these will show what is standard and what is an option.

At the bottom of adverts there is normally a statement that the spec of the vehicle has been filled in using a third market database and exact specifications should be ascertained from the dealer.........which is !Removed! annoying.

Update:  I’m now the proud owner of a 2011 XFS 3.0d PL with dynamic pack.  One owner from new with all servicing and repairs carried out by Jaguar, including a new engine in 2016!  So a 125k ml car with a 55k mile engine.

I’ve had it for 3 days now, the only issue I have had is a one-time red restricted performance message under heavy acceleration.  It cleared after a shut down and restart.  So today I spent a good amount of time doing laps on the dual carriageway testing the rev range!  Message didn’t return, so I’m hoping it was just a sticky valve as I know the car has spent the past 5 months with a car dealer tootling around town off boost.  I will keep pressing it for a few days to make sure, as I have 30 days to return to the dealer to resolve if need be.

Out of interest, with the new engine installed in 2016, is it likely to have any improved components ?  (Eg. Inlet manifolds etc).

Thanks

Welcome to the club 😁

I am always skeptical when a garage tells you the "engine is new", very hard to determine what that means i.e. is really new, reconditioned, used etc, suspect it will be like for like otherwise other components would probably need replacing. Not to say it bad what has been done, did you get much paperwork on the engine change?

The red restricted performance light, well covered on here, other have more experience as I am in the petrol camp 😁

Thanks.

It was a new engine, supplied and fitted by Jaguar dealer with invoice to prove it, they paid 50% in goodwill as the original engine went bang at 70k miles and it had been serviced by them every year (No6 cylinder, no compression)

In fact, I have every invoice for the life of the car, 95% of the work was carried out by Jaguar main dealers.

Thats impressive history 😁

They are great cars as you will experience, they do have character, and in most cases cost you as much as having a wife, but they are a joy 🤣

Haha….I can imagine we will have a challenging relationship over the next few years!  But the history of the car sold it to me, for my needs as a motorway mile muncher, with the occasional B road excursion I don’t think I could have found better.

Look out for my next post…..”How do I fix this…..?”  Ha
