Greetings,

I have an 07 X Type with very low miles on the engine (Sorry I am American). I am having an issue with the car getting power to everything but periodically the car will not crank and I get a gear box fault message. Took the car to a shop that only works on Jaguars and they were stumped. They changed out the Transmission control unit and it seemed to fix the issue for a day. This seems to happen more often when the outside temp is high and the car has been in the sun a while. if I switch the key to position 2 and let the lights cycle then turn it to crank it 98 out of a 100 times will start. Sometimes it will just die after starting and show another gear box fault. Please enlighten me if you have answer to this because my American mechanic cannot figure it out. Thanks

Check the main cables from the battery and if needs be, replace them. Also check the ground points in the engine bay.
