  1. Mileage is confirmed. I've been in touch with the Irish dealer who sold it; they will also send me the service history (one owner, bought 1/1/2007; serviced Aug 2008, Jan 2010, May 2012, Jun 2013 and Aug 2015. The odometer reading at the last service was 24239 km (15,150 miles). I won't tell you how little I paid for it, but it was cheap cheap CHEAP (no service history, needing minor bodywork, mileage unverified). Even allowing for £900 for the bodywork and a machine polish (finished tomorrow or Friday), and a few other bits and pieces, it's very much a result. Pics to follow. I'm a happy bunny, believe me.

  2. Further to all of the above, reference the XK nose-cone cracks (very hairline), we today visited our new-found Indie Jaguar Specialist at Derby. Prime reason for the visit was the annual service, but we mentioned the hair-line cracks in the nose cone. A very affable gentleman determined that there had been a local repair at some point and that, as suggested, a complete strip-back, prepare, repaint and relacquer should solve the problem. A reasonable price was quoted, to include removal of the cone and all attached parts (therefore, no masking). We have decided to monitor the cracks and, if they become noticeably worse, then we shall book in for the autumn. Apparently, the comments made on the thread are pretty much the case as it is, so thanks to all concerned. Happy growling, as always

  3. Since when does speeding automatically make you a bad driver? Driving too fast for conditions is unsafe, but just speeding (without being distracted) is not. It is just a revenue producer for the local government.
