  1. Welcome to the Club Steven, and +3 for this pointing towards the battery!
  2. So sorry to hear this Tom! We have a Leonberger - quite a bit bigger than the Labrador - but we use my wife's car when the dog is with us. It does mean that for holidays in this country we have to leave the XK at home, but at least I still have the XK!
  3. I'm thinking the same as Joe: A rash of miscellaneous electrical issues usually means a low battery!
  4. Thanks for keeping us posted Phil. Let's hope they are right, in the which case it was a very easy fix!
  5. Hi Jolly, and welcome to the Club! I can't help with your problems, but hopefully those who can help will be along shortly.
  6. I am at the wrong end of the country to answer your query, but... Hi Ann, and welcome to the Club. I guess that we all love our XKs: They are just so beautiful!
  7. Hi Ron, and welcome to the Club. Jaguar racing green with cream leather is an absolutely classic Jaguar colour combination: Beautiful! It only takes a short drive to show that they are real Jaguars, but you have proved it for well over a year.
  8. Had it been previously started, and turned off again after a very short time? This problem can arise if that has happened, since when the car is started in cold weather a very rich fuel mix is injected. That is what is required to start it up, and if run normally it will revert to the normal mix after a few minutes. However, if it is turned off before the rich fuel mix has been burned, and then started hours or a day or two later, a further rich mix is injected, and the result is that the engine is choked by an over-rich fuel mix, and won't start. If that happens turning it over with your foot flat down on the throttle can eventually get it to start (somewhat roughly at first), but if that doesn't work you will need to take the plugs out, dry them and allow the fuel to evaporate.
  9. Hi George, and welcome. Enjoy both your S and the Club!
  10. If it is indeed a reasonable price, and if you intend to keep the car long term (as I certainly did and still do), then just go for it: You won't regret it!
  11. It will be great to see those photos: I guess we are all fond of the Mk2!
  12. Sorry Paul, but I can't stand squeaks and rattles, even if they are only from luggage: I have to pull over, and stop it as soon as it is safe to do so. I do agree with you as to the woman on the satnav though: She is very persistent, trying to get me back on to her preferred route, even when it is perfectly obvious I have chosen to go a different way. She does know how to read a map though, concentrates on what she is doing, and gives me advance notice when I need to turn off.
  13. Don't despair Phil: It may turn out to be easily fixed. Many members spend a little time getting their cars right, and then enjoy the fruits of their labours for years.
  14. Me too: I thought it was just me!
  15. In my book that's a problem with the wife, not the car!
  16. My XF and XK both make no sound: The windows autoclose, and there is the clunk of the doors locking, but nothing else. To be honest, I don't remember any of my vehicles making a beep when the alarm was set, since the days when the alarm was a non-original accessory. But then, my memory can be vague about such things!
  17. This is a handy tip. I, like many others I suspect, tend to use one fob all the time, with the other remaining in a drawer. I try to remember to use the other fob a couple of times a month, in the hope that use will stop the buttons gumming up.
  18. I think this rules out the air conditioning. As with all such problems, it is then a question of knowing where the water is, but trying to trace where it came from! The fact that the rear passenger footwell is wet may be significant. Does the wet carpet extend continuously from front to back, or is ther a dry area in the middle?
  19. Exactly which model do you have Phil? If you feel below the glove box at the side above the dampness, is that dry? A wet footwell can result from a leaking air conditioning pipe which is difficult to get at.
  20. I can't help with your query Jason, but I can say welcome to the Club!
  21. No way Paul, this is one place where nobody gets sick of hearing about Jaguars!
  22. It should be well worth waiting for! Jaguars have a certain presence which is unique, and which I love: You feel a sense of occasion every time you get into the car. I shall be interested to hear your comments when it arrives.
  23. It depends on the exact model: It will be very well equipped, but the Jaguar website will give you all the details. I had the 3.0D S Portfolio, which had pretty much everything, including the best sound system I have ever heard.
  24. I saw that episode as well: It showed a very nice Mk2, amongst others. I did think that J499UAR was probably just a made up number, which looked great but would only cost them a tenner to do!
  25. I use a Specialist Car sales place, just around the corner from me. They are not Jaguar specialists as such, but look after a lot of sports cars: I have seen Jaguar, Aston Martin, Maserati, Ferrari etc in their workshops, as well as the usual Mercedes, BMW and Audis. I know the owner, and can discuss exactly what I want with the guy who will be doing the work, and discuss it with him after it has been done as well. They never do unnecessary work, and their charges are very reasonable. All of this, and I can walk to the place in 5 minutes, and am given a big welcome at reception by their white Labrador when I get there. What more could a guy want?
