DAB and Bluetooth Audio functions on 2011 XF Portfolio
Hi Matthew, I can only relate my experiences with my 2011 XF-S Portfolio... Definitely has DAB Searching can be slow, but once complete, reception seems to be rock-solid However, there are many 'bands' (or whatever they're called!) and they seem to be related to your location when searching Bluetooth audio does work in mine (with an iPhone 10), although mainly I play my ancient iPod via USB or CDs and, of course the DAB Not sure if any of that will help with your dilemma if it simply refuses to work as you would like, but good luck anyway - there are many other things to enjoy about an XF! Cheers Jon

Vibration
Hi Roy, I bought my 2011 XF-S just over a year ago; had two problems... Awful grip due to cheap Chinese tyres Vibration from the front wheels when braking First was a no-brainer - 4x Pirelli P-Zeros, sorted! Second was a bit more challenging to my pocket, namely new discs and pads for the front, but now completely fixed. Sounds like you have a different problem though, as mine only vibrated when braking. Could you, maybe, have a damaged wheel? Or just a duff tyre? I wish you the best of luck, and hope to hear of a resolution. Cheers, Jon

Newbie
Hi Ray! I beat you by just 4 years! Always wanted one, had to be a red one and a fast(ish) one! Hope you enjoy yours as much as I'm enjoying mine. Cheers, Jon

No heat passenger's side
Hi Paul, I just took my XF out for a spin... Initially no air from any vents. Heated windscreen and back window came on automagically though. After a couple of miles, screen heaters went off and warm air came from the outer & middle front vents on the right; nothing on the left at all! However, when my speed-limiter is sitting in the front passenger seat, she's always complaining about warm air from her vents, so goes a little wild with temperature settings (20 on my side, 16 on hers) that obviously confuses things when she gets too cold and cranks it up again! Maybe the car is sensing the presence of someone on the front passenger seat??? These cars are just too clever, never know what tricks they have! But we love 'em!!! I appreciate this may not deal with your problem - sorry - but mine does just the same when there's no front seat passenger Cheers, Jon

Original spec
Hi Garry, I used AutoDNA when I bought my XF just over a year ago; you can get the car's history and original specs in one place. Only problem is, you need the VIN, not just the reg and it costs a couple of £s. Cheers, Jon

HID headlamp. What is this?
Hi Paul, I think it's the bulb that comes on as you turn or indicate to light-up the corner you're about to take. A precursor to 'bendy' headlights, I reckon, but it was very common on USA hire cars back in the day as well. Cheers, Jon

OBD access ?
Hi Martin, I too was a bit surprised by the absence of a temp gauge - never seen that before! Even my first ever car (a 1965 Ford Anglia) had one! But as far as overheating risk goes, I'd probably notice a warning message sooner than a gauge creeping up, so maybe not such a bad idea after all. What I do miss is knowing when the engine warmed up enough to really 'GO' after a cold start - I don't like to rag it while still cold. Good luck with the diagnostics. Cheers, Jon

Fuel consumption
Hi Nigel, I have a 2011 3.0L XF-S. I do lots of local runs in town and country lanes; that gives me high 20's mpg. Quite often we take the car across to Ireland, and on the drive to West Wales I get high 40s. Briefly saw 54mpg on the M4 as well! I took Peter's advice some time ago and use premium diesel with regular shots of the Millers Oil additive. Enjoy your XF! Cheers, Jon

Hi Paul, The tyre pressure warning seems to be very sensitive! I had it tell me off when my front right tyre was just 1psi low when cold! Regen has not yet (fingers crossed) raised its ugly head! Lovely cars though!!! J

Help needed please.
Hi Karl, Can't really comment since I have no experience of such a noise (mine is a 2011 XF-S), Despite the service history, it might still be a wheel bearing, mebbe? Also, mine came with dodgy tyres (quickly replaced!), maybe a cause? Cheers, Jon

Hi Elliott, I have to say that yours sounds pretty much the same as my 2011 XF-S 3.0D Portfolio. Maybe slightly noisier, but obviously hard to tell the volume from the video. As you point out though, they're very quiet on the inside. I don't get any odd noises when accelerating - maybe some other members will have suggestions for what might cause that. Good luck, Jon (also (originally) from Essex!)

New owner with questions
Hi Paul, Mine didn't come with a handbook, but I found it online, along with a quckstart guide. Sorry, but I lost the link a long time ago.PM me and I can forward both to you though. Glovebox button should respond instantly! Hope you enjoy your XF! What spec have you got? Cheers, Jon

Members Tyre Choice.................
Hi Edwin, I have 2011 XF-S with the 20" wheels. Soon after I bought it in October 2018 I had to replace the tyres as those fitted (Chinese 'Triangle' brand) were simply not up to the job in the wet and not much better in the dry. I went for Pirelli P-Zeros and the car was transformed. It's now about 15,000 miles later and there's still some life left in all four of them after a mixture of long motorway trips, local shopping trips and everything in between. Good luck with the XF-S if you go for it, I take mine for a spin just for the hell of it most days! Cheers, Jon

Members Tyre Choice.................
Hi Richard, My XF-S (2011, bought a year ago) arrived with Chinese 'Triangle' branded tyres, which were truly 'interesting' in the wet. Quickly swapped for a set of Pirelli P-Zeros (255/35-20), car was transformed! Good luck with your search, mine were roughly £200 a corner at Quik-Fit, plus a few £££s for tracking adjustment. Next job is to get the wheels refurbished, but the plastic 'blades (5 needed per wheel) seem to be incredibly expensive! Cheers, Jon

Max fuel economy vs DPF
Hi Joe, Completely agree! I regularly wring its neck, but when off to the in-laws in Ireland, I have a speed limiter in the passenger seat! So far, I find a mix of cruising n bruising works well. There isn't a week without dialling 'S' for a bit of fun. Cheers, Jon

Max fuel economy vs DPF
Hi Steven, I've had mu 3.0d V6 XF-S for just over a year since retiring (2011, 66K miles now). I find that on long motorway cruises, loaded with luggage, and with cruise control set at 77mph, I get about 47mpg. That seems very good to me, but if I hit some bendy stuff and go for sport mode, the fun increases in line with consumption (has been down to 18mpg, but still, so much fun!). So far, (fingers crossed!) no DPF issues, but I do use premium diesel and add Millers Oil additive every fill-up. I think it's about enjoying the drive though, whatever the cost! Cheers, Jon

What's the most popular/desirable colour for a Jaguar
Hi Pete, my name for mine is even cornier: PussyGalore!
