Terraclean yes or no?
HI, I have found that Miller's Diesel Eco-Max, along with using premium diesel has transformed my XF-S 3.0D since I bought it last October. Quieter, more responsive, more economical! I occasionally do a very long trip to Ireland, but apart from that, short local trips. In the 10K miles I've done, I've only had one "Regen Needed" message; quick blast around (a bit of) the M25 and it went away. Obviously, I don't know if that would have been different if I didn't go for premium diesel and the Miller's, but for a car that's lucky to do 100 miles a week, apart from a long one every couple of months, together with all the DPF problems I read about, there must be something in it! I'm no expert on the relative merits of one additive over another, but for the future, I'll stick with Miller's. Just wish I knew if it's Miller's or Millers 🙂 Cheers, Jon

scratch on wing & bumper
Me too! But yesterday I was berated by a somewhat elderly lady in a Fiat 500 because my XF doesn't fit in the parking spaces at our local CoOp. It was encroaching on the one she wanted to use behind mine. Anyway, she said that if I didn't move forward, she would move in and touch the back of my XF with her Fiat. Completely absurd, since with a good 12" between the cars, hers was still well within her parking space. And don't get me started about parking space widths!

Well. This is awkward! Was kinda confident about the gear selector position stuff, but just been out and mine doesn't even have the dot! Embarrassed of West Sussex 🙂

Hi Paul, Not 100% sure, but I think it indicates the position of the gear selector knob in the centre console. Cheers, Jon

Kev, C'mon! You only live once! (Unless you're JB!) Dynamic makes it firmer. 'S' makes it hang on to gears and 'blip' as you slow down. TRAC DSC lets all hell break loose! Has to be done at least once a week!! Put them all together with a bendy country lane... Heaven on wheels! My other half (AKA SWOTO) is my speed limiter. Can't explain in words that I bought and XF-S, not to go slowly, not to kill us, but to keep (mainly) legal and go fast. It isn't really about how fat you go though, but how fast you get to how fast you can go. Give it a go! I bet you'll be grinning! Cheers, J

Exactly the same problem here. Seems it's due to heat. Looking to replace the bulbs with LEDs soon, which might cure the problem. Cheers, Jon

Central Locking Problem with 2013 XF Portfolio S
I had a few warnings about battery being low and panicked a bit. I thought the best solution would be a new one, so toddled off to Halfords. Had to explain the need for constant power, so the guy plugged in a backup while swapping the battery. All in all, a great result for £120 If only tyres were as cheap! J

Engine temperature
Mine is also a 2011 XF S, bough last October. Was a bit surprised to not have a temperature gauge (or any others really, apart from speed, revs and an electronic fuel gauge). Guess we all have to have faith in the electronics! But I would really like to know when it's 'up to temperature' and ready for a bit of 'action'. Ho hum! Jon

Jaguar xfs badge
I know what you mean about the unwanted attention! Good fun to show them a 'clean pair of heals' though!

Jaguar xfs badge
Hi Kevin, Seems we have similar cars, but mine also has an XF badge on the left. Your new badge looks great, but not sure it would look as goon on my red ('Claret') one!

A / B service question help
Hi Barry, I guess the easy option would be to assume that the unticked services alternated as they should have done, so counting forward you could work out which was done last time and move on from there. On the other hand, you might prefer to play safe and go for the 'biggie', Cheers, Jon

Sounds more like castor angle to me. Any recollection of going over a pothole?

XF Screen
Hi Tony, I don't know about the 2017 XF, but on my 2011 version, I only see the Outside temp when the 'Home' screen is displayed. No idea if that relates in anyway to a 2017 model, but might be worth a try. Cheers, Jon

service plan advice
Hi Colin, I reckon they're trying to apply averages to everyone, regardless of actual usage. My 2011 XF-S 3.0L has just hit 62K miles and I wouldn't expect that 'big' service to be due anytime soon. Must be worth dropping them an email explaining your actual mileage? Cheers, Jon

XF-S 2011 interior lights randomly coming on
Brilliant! I was considering swapping to LEDs for whiter light but thought they might make the problem worse. I think I'll just go for them after reading that. Can always get the circuit board swapped later if LEDs don't cure it. Thanks for sharing that, Jon

I think you may be onto something with the heat thing! I've never had it happen at night! Hmmmm

XF-S 2011 interior lights randomly coming on
Thanks, Ian. I would mind if it was an everyday thing, but it's completely random. Of course they can by (eventually, after a couple of touches), be switched off, so it's really just an annoyance. Cheers, Jon

XF-S 2011 interior lights randomly coming on
Sorry if I've mentioned this before (age is a curse!), but does any other XF owner (2011-ish) have any experience of the interior light(s) above the windscreen and in the back, lighting up randomly when driving along?. In my case, it's mainly the centre light (with the back ones) and occasionally the one to the left of the centre one as well. After a few touches on the lens, it/they go off, but I simply wish they didn't light up in the first place! Any suggestions for a cure gratefully received! Thanks, Jon
