  1. Fantastic taste in cars!! Well done, and welcome to the club
  2. Strange, I always thought that the light would come on when the glow plugs were warming up. If the car is not starting, then maybe the glow plugs are all out and not warming up, hence no light, however, this seems strange that all of them would go together. What mileage is on the car and is there any service history of glow plugs replacement?

    DPF full

I have the pleasure of driving my XF along the M4 and M5 for approx 130 miles each way, regularly to collect my children and feel that this keeps my DPF in good order. However, I was always under the impression that a car should rev at around 2500 to give the exhaust and DPF system a good blow out, my XF will do 2000 at 90MPH and although I would love to go considerably faster, I cant get the car to sit steadily at 2500 rpm. If I do 70mph the car sits at approx 1800 RPM. I have tried using the paddles on the motorway, but after a few miles the car naturally reverts to automatic mode. Is there a way of turning this off?
  4. I had a similar issue. All I did was turn the automatic settings on and off a few times and it seemed to work. Not saying this will help, but worth a try?
  5. Welcomer to the group. Sounds interesting. It would be great to see some pictures and get updates on progress.
  6. Welcome to the group. Car looks lovely and the guys on here are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable.
  7. Welcome to the group Brent. I was always of the understanding that: Black Smoke = Fuel Issues White smoke = water issues Blue smoke = oil issues. I guess the garage sorting out the loose collar may have helped the blue smoke, but still seems a very strange place to see blue smoke appear from. Blue smoke and a smell of diesel is quite concerning. Didi you take the car to a dealer or a local garage?
  8. No such thing as a silly question Jon!! Very strange... when you say unresponsive, do you mean it wouldn't accelerate whilst driving at speed?
  9. But the F type is soooo lovely!!! I will own one some day!! Welcome to the group.
