  1. I had a pulley and alternator belt replaced recently on my 2010 XF 2.0 V6. I was driving along the motorway at about 68 mph for nearly 80 miles, and suddenly the Restricted Performance kicked in. If I switch off the engine and leave it overnight, RP does not show up again when I start the engine, but it does kick in when I am doing over 50 mph. Any Ideas? I know the local garage had to strip a fair bit of the engine back, and I think maybe he hasn't put something back correctly?
  2. Does it lose power when in automatic mode only? Can you use the paddles? Not to fix the issue, just process of elimination?
  3. It wasn't the water pump, but the fan pulley. It looks as though the alternator was replaced relatively recently, but before I purchased the car. Its not on the service history. Garage claim that when it was fitted, the belt was over tight and had a knock on effect on the pulley, which in turn, broke. Saved a few quid on the cam belt for now, but it will still need replacing later this year I suspect.
  4. Then it would surely be safe to say the Aston Martin DB7 is a Ford also? Although it is made up of predominately Jaguar parts?
  5. Vauxhall Nova Austin Montego Ford Sierra Vauxhall Cavalier Club Vauxhall Vectra 24v 2.5ltr V6 SRI - ( I loved this car)! Volkswagon Passat Mazda 6 ( I loved this car) Vauxhall Insignia Jaguar XF 3.0ltr V6 Sport A few others that I really cant remember as they were just stop gaps
  6. I had wind noise on my 2010 XF, checked the windscreen and the rubber seal had come away form the glass at the bottom corner of the passenger side. Simple to re seal and seemed to work a treat.
  7. Its sound like a spinning rattle from the front of the engine. I will need to remove the covers to confirm.
  8. I've done about 2500 miles over the last week, (parents visiting from abroad and travelling the UK to visit family) and this morning I noticed a strong burning smell when I got home from Gatwick airport after dropping off. Lifted the bonnet and I can hear a rattling noise that I believe to be the water pump. If the pump has gone then this would surely determine the smell as one of the belts could likely be rubbing? As I'm pushing 100k miles, the cam belt is soon due and am wondering whether to get this replaced at the same time, as water pumps generally get replaced with cam belt changes anyway. Should I go through Jaguar or would my local independent be capable? I have a 2010 3.0 V6 sport. I am sure the price difference would be phenomenal?
  9. If you had just drove off the forecourt, then you should have turned straight back around and spoke to the dealer that sold it to you. That way, they cant really argue and will probably replace it for you. if you have driven for a while, that'll be a get out for the dealer. But as they say, take for a long drive and see how it turns out.
  10. Welcome to the group Jon, the car sounds lovely. Will we see some photos?
