  1. Welcome to the club, Glenn. You can find them on eBay at various plrices, but the best bet id Adamesh who will sell you a new one for £150. Regards, Peter.
  2. Welcome to the Club, David. I was after an S Type once I saw my pal restoring a Mark1 in 1963. I got one 50 years later! I was dring prior to the speed limits coming in and the Preston By Pass [now called the M6] was a great place to have a bit of fast driving. Most cars would not do over 80 mph, but my Triumph T100 twin and my Honda 250 would get up top that speed very quickly. Now I can drive gracefully and enjoy the comfort. Regards, Peter.
  3. Welcome tp the Club, Stuart. You willf fine the 2.7 diesel and an excellent engine if you treat it properly. Premium Fuel all the time, and a dash of Diesel Magic now and them. The Jaguar likes to be nicely polished, and when you come to Birmingham where the car was born, you will notice that it even likes Spaghetti Junction. Regards, Peter.
  4. As a diesel owner, one of the issues the can arise is "dirty" fuel. Now and then you need to put in an additive that will clean the fuel system A Terracelan servie for about £120 [10% off if you are a Premium member] cleans out the system, and is much cheaper than replacing expensive parts. The c headset options are the best to try first. Peter.
  5. Welcome to the Club, Matthew. Nice Car, and I think you will enjoy it. Regards, Peter.
  6. Hi Carole, I had Supaguard on my S type but was not impresses, and it became ineffective after about two and a half years after which I used a detailing spray that I won at a meet for the best presented car. It was a sunny day and the metallic paint [Indigo] showed up very well. For our 50th Wedding anniversary a month ago I bought my wife a nice smaller car, as she didn't like parking the S Type in the busy area in which we live. Our daughter in law has a Toyota Yaris Hybrid and my wife was quite enamoured with it, so I bought one with just 10,000 miles on the clock It was in very good condition, so I had it ceramic coated, which was a very good move as the result was really good, and which saved me a great deal of work. I would have like to have acquired an XE, but being well retired the funds did not run to one! In regards to the tyres I have rarely used the spray that is supposed to clean them, and have used a small plastic brush and water. I will try the Megulars Gel as I feel that it would be more suitable. You will enjoy the Heritage Museum at Gaydon -- I organised a meet there last year. Regards, Peter. The S Type below which has been used for racing is a 2.7 Diesel!
  7. Welcome to the club, Viv. If you have a disc system it will tell you what year etc that it and then you can try googling for an up to date on. Mine had an 06 Denso disc and I was able to a 2012 disc from eBay, Regards Peter.
  8. Hi Carole, Drying off the car is a big part of cleaning a car. When dry I just buff it up with a fairly expensive microfibre cloth. I gave my S Type a good wax polish in February using a Belt Hamber Carnuba Polymer wax, which apparent is good at protecting from the rain. It does, as the rain just runs off. It is supposed to last 3 months but it will get another coat at the end of May. Regards, Peter.
  9. Welcome to the Club, James. My advice to a first time Jaguar owner is very simple. Just keep it nice and shiny, drive it gracefully, and just enjoy. Regards, Peter.
  10. Hi Carole, I too use the B&M brush, and also the small sponges that you can get about 24 for £1. When I had my wheels completely refurbished, I was also advised not to use chemical s to clean the wheels, but just plain luke-warm water. Peter.
  11. Magnatec is supposed to be guaranteed to 2 years or 20,000 miles. Having said that I have an oil change every year when I have the car serviced. Peter.
  12. Hi Afsar, and welcome to the club. You could try Wiltshire Jaguar - Jaguar Trained specialists in Swindon, if that is not too far way. Regards Peter.
  13. Welcome to the club, Lee. Great looking car, and a great drive -- comfort and speed. There was some discussion about a year ago on the "200 and I am sure you will get some assistance. Regards, Peter.
  14. Welcome to the Club, Phil. Nice to see someone fro New Zealand owning a Jaguar S Type. They must be quite rare. Regards Peter.
  15. Hi Paul, Mine came from Hong Kong and cost £16.99. I got it via eBay, but I can't remember the name of the company, I think that some come with bit screw fitting and adhesive. Regards, Peter.
  16. I think Keyless entry and Keyless go covered the same topic, really. Peter.
  17. Welcome to the Club, Emma. Look up the David Manners Group. You could telephone them and they are very helpful in identifying the part you need. Regards, Peter. Lancastrian in Exile.
  18. Welcome to the Club, Ozkan. We visited Turkey some years ago and rented a Renault 14. We went over a very dodgy mountain pass and were much reassured when we saw a Rover 3.5 litre coming towards us! Nice to see members from Turkey - and the S Type is a rather nice car. Regards, Peter.
  19. Hi Paul, I put a stick on one on my s type a couple of years ago. It is still stuck on! Peter.
  20. Hi Gary, I got the full spec of my s type from a site called Vindecoderx which detailed the basic spec plus the factory fitted options extras. Sometimes, however it does not work. Peter.
  21. You will be able to get an update by looking at the various site that can be found on the internet. A lot depends on whether your sat nav has a disc or has to be downloaded by a Jaguar main dealer. Peter.
  22. Welcome to the Club, Carole. Exchanging information is very useful. I sometimes print off posts to keep in my file for future t=reference. I have had my s type [07 plate 2.7d] for almost four years and I never use main dealers for the odd issue I have had with my car. I use a mobile mechanic and gave done for the last 15 years, who is very knowledgeable and reliable, and nowhere near as expensive. We live in Sutton Coldfield. Regards, Peter.
  23. Hi Simon, You will enjoy the Cotswolds when you meander through the lane in your Jaguar. We often have a day out in that area. Relaxing. Regards, Peter.
  24. During WW2, those who had cars and were allowed to use them had to disable the distributor when the car was parked for a long time, such as overnight. Peter.
  25. There was a local issue reported in the Weekly local free paper of a Mercedes being stolen by two this who used his laptop to hack into the lock system of a keyless entry car, while the key was in the house of the owner. And, although slightly off topic, I have heard that when you lock your car using the key fob, there is a widget that can cancel the locking signal. Several cars have been known to be looted -- sat naves, radio, and anything loose. Drivers have been advised to check that the car is locked, and never to use a key fob from a distance. Peter.
