POA offences tend to be prosecuted rather than cautioned in this neck of the woods Gary, assuming there is sufficient evidence for the CPS to charge, although I don't think that will be a problem She may accept an out of Court financial disposal or, alternatively, she might have a record or have the hubris to plead not guilty. There are so many variables.

Having a late start this morning, I found myself driving through local streets during the frenetic stampede which is misleadingly called "The school run"

I turned into a relatively narrow street following an ambulance (patient transport, not emergency), with a car in front of it and two cars following me.

The lead car came to a halt directly opposite where another yummy mummy had parked her car, completely blocking the road. Had the car pulled in on the same side as the other parked cars, there would have been room for vehicles to pass.

As it was, mummy jumps out, along with two little cherubs, and walks off up the road. The ambulance driver used his horn to let her know that there were other vehicles and got a single finger salute from yummy mummy, without her even turning her head, as she walked away.

Attitude? Downright ignorant sow I reckon.

So, we all had to reverse down the narrow street and find another way out. Not before the ambulance driver had taken a few photos and witness details, including me. Apparently, she came out with a vile stream of verbal abuse as well, but that was beyond my hearing.

Said ignorant sow is about to discover that making gestures and comments of that nature in public is a criminal offence under section 5 of the Public Order Act 1968 and that's before the traffic violations are taken into account.

Would I be prepared to give evidence in Court should it prove necessary? Hell yes

Just wondering whether the quoted service intervals for S-Types are realistic.

The reason I comment is that Denis is breaking an S-Type which he has just bought after it had just ground to a halt after 160000 miles.

As it has been broken it has become clear that this car has never been serviced since it was first delivered.

The spark plugs had little more than a vestigial electrode. The Oil and air filters were originals.

The inside of the engine is in a disgusting state as you'd expect but, quite some illustration of the quality of the basic engineering in our cars.

160000 mles without a service.

BTW - if anybody wants parts from a 2003 S-Type 3.0, give Denis a shout

Alternatively, you can get a cleaner aerosol which has a long pipe and goes up into the condensate drains.

Best if you have a donor car, when it would be simpler, because you can replace the entire dash loom. Youl'll need the climate control module as well, apart, of course, from the more obvious components.

Perspnally, I'd say well worth the effort though as I particularly like the entire integrated system.

Well, The Princess performed faultlessly 

We chose to use the coast road via Shaldon, Maidencombe, Babbacombe and she made mincemeat of the gradients with such aplomb and panache.

Saw dozens of S-Types over the week as well. Some immaculate, some, unfortunately, not so.

We retrofitted Premium sound in Denis's early model S-Type Russ.

Believe it or not, the easiest way to install the mid-range amp and speakers is to replace the whole dashboard. Oddly enough, the twin speaker units we fitted sounded a lot worse than the originals.

What sort of head unit Russ? Please bear in mind that the amp is controlled by the D2B network from the OEM touchscreen.

I have a spare cartridge for the CDC if it's of any use. Does the CDC you've bought have D2B connection?

I've seen that review before Joe, and I've also seen positive reviews as well.

Russ, it's not the use of the device which intrigues me rather than whether or not it can be done 

It's a long way off at the moment though,, unless we fall upon a donor car.

There's the rub Joe. Very few cars had it fitted as an option and even fewer of those were for the UK market.

Setting it up in SDD seems simple enough though. I haven't even found any evidence of pre-installed wiring loom.

Other, simpler retro-fits on the go at the moment 

The main reason, of course, for large diameter whells, is to accomodate larger brakes so I think this isn't going to be a factor in your decision Dave.

So, comfort versus aesthetics.

When I first got The Princess she had 18" wheels and I was keen to try some 16" to see if there was a difference in comfort level. In fact, I could not discern any difference after a week of testing so went back to my 18" wheels and have been happy with both the look and the comfort

Further research suggests that XF voice installations had major problems and that cars from VIN R95245 had their voice disabled.

What is your VIN number?

From the description you've given, I'd say that you don't have the Jaguar Voice module fitted. Alternatively, if you know for sure that the module is fitted then it has become unserviceable.

Do you get the voice training option in the touchscreen menu?

I think they are there to locate the red rubber insert on the inside of the connector Steve. Yes, it is the waterproof sealer i think.

Steve, it's the connector for the headlight mate

The little red bits are merely locators as far as I can tell.

Those little red things poke through the back Steve. Looking on the inside there seems to be a soft rubber at the back of the connector which pokes through to form the small red bits you can see.

I can't see any clips anywhere
