  2. Hi Ian, I`m in East Yorkshire between Hull and the East coast.
  3. Hi John, Welcolme to the club. I have a 2008 X type diesel auto and I only had the car a few weeks when the same message came up and went into limp mode. After checks at dealers who fitted new egr valve the message came back. In the end they fitted new turbo and actuator. There was a very small amount of carbon in the turbo but they said that was enough to cause the problem. All this was nearly 10000 miles ago and now runs fine, although I have just replaced injectors. Hope this helps Rod
  4. Hi Ian, I have a 2008 Xtype diesel auto. It had 90000 on the clock last sept. It now has 99000 miles on the clock. The performance is better than I expected and fuel useage is better than my previous car (rover 75 diesel auto estate) It tows a 15 ft caravan without any problems. The only issue I have had is injectors. Just replaced 2 and serviced the other 2. I have now changed onto BP Ultimate diesel to keep the injectors clean. Its more expensive but better MPG. The only other problem I have had is the tailgate hinge mounting bolts coming loose. Hope this is useful. Cheers Rod
  5. Hi John, I am near Hull between Aldbrough and Roos.
  6. Hi Brian, Looks good. I also had a Rover 75 tourer diesel auto and always fancied an X Type. I`ve got 2008 estate diesel auto for about 9 months now. Had a few issues but love the car. I`m in East Yorkshire so we might meet up. Cheers Rod
  7. Hi everyone, During the winter when trying to start engine (2.2 diesel 2008 auto) it seemed as though it was only firing on 3 cylinders. I changed the glow plugs but no difference. Took to jaguar spec. they said they couldn`t find the problem. It was now getting worse. Once warmed up it was ok and remained ok all day. I took it to my local garage who suspected leaky injector. They took them out, had them checked out, replace two of them, refitted everything, change engine oil and filter and car now runs beautifully again. Just done a round trip from east yorks to garstang and back towing a caravan and it was a pleasure !! Hope this helps others with a similar problem. Cheers Rod
  8. Hi Andy, Similar to the ones that I fitted and with the same result. Cheers Rod
  9. hilston, east riding of yorkshire
  10. Hi Dave, I have a similar problem with my 08 X type diesel. Its been into Jaguar and they couldn`t find the problem (no fault codes showing) The problem is getting worse and its going into local garage next week. They think it is either a faulty sensor or leaky injector. I will let you know what the outcome is. Cheers Rod
  11. Hi Andy, Yes the X type headlights are very poor. I changed the bulbs to some that Halfords sold me (cant remember the name) but made big improvement, and not expensive. Cheers Rod
  12. Hi Richard, Good, let me know how it goes. Cheers Rod
  13. Hi Richard, The striker plate is the small hook type on a back plate that is fixed to the B or C post that the door mechanism latches onto. Hope this helps!! Cheers Rod
  14. Hi everyone, I have been bothered about wind noise on my xtype 2009. After testing each door seals using an A4 sheet of paper and trying to pull it out with the door closed ( this was suggested by someone a while ago) It was quite easy to pull the paper through so I decided to adjust the striker plates. First I marked the existing position with short strips of masking tape, then slackened off the two torx screws, then carefully moved the plate towards the middle of the car, only about 2mm. Tightened the screws then tried the paper test again. This time it was not possible to withdraw the paper. Went for a test drive and all was a lot quieter. Job Done. Cheers Rod
  15. Thanks Paul. I will let you know. Cheers Rod
  16. Hi Peter, Thanks for that. I shall start looking at both possibilities. I will be keeping car a quite a while. ( I hope) Cheers Rod

  18. Hi everyone, Is it possible to play my MP3 player through the cars speaker system. Xtype SE 2009. If so what do I need? Cheers Rod
  19. Hi Rowley, I have a 2008 diesel auto facelift model 2.2 litre. Now done 95000 miles. no problems with the DPF and just beem MOT`d. I do drive fairly long fast open country routes most of the time, but if I feel I have been doing quite a bit of town driving, I put it in manual mode and take it for a blast. Lovely car. Hope this is helpful. Cheers Rod
  20. Hi Ray, As i only bought the car a few weeks before this problem the garage paid for it hoping to claim it back from the warranty outfit but they declined to cough up so the garage carried the can. Cheers Rod
  21. Hi Ray, Had exactly the same problem on my 08 estate, 90,000miles took it to independent garage. They removed the turbo and showed me a small amount of carbon within. Replaced turbo, now fine and now done 95,000 ok Hope this helps Cheers Rod
  22. Hi I`m in East Yorkshire not far from Hull Rod
  23. Hi everyone, What sort of job is it to replace glow plugs on my 2.2 2008 X type Cheers rodeyorks
  24. Hi everyone, I`ve noticed as the weather is getting colder that my car seems to start on three cylinders and is very lumpy. I increase the revs to 1500 and after a few minutes it goes onto 4 cylinders. If it was petrol I would think it was being overfuelled. Any ideas? This only happens first thing in the morning, the rest of the day it is fine. Cheers Rod
