  1. Hi

I looked at buying one, for my daily drive.

the drive is very good and there quite reliable, you get a awful lot of car for your money

the drive is not as smooth as my S-type R, but you get lots of gadgets and lot more space

depending on what model your after and how old it is, some of the older h hybrid ones can be troublesome and I'm not a fan of the CVT engine, it revs a lot, its not like conventional auto's, the revs stay high and constant while the gearing changes, bit like a old variomatic belt drive

Best option is to pick one you like and test drive it, lots of garages out there, I did not like the way they drived anf it put me off them.

Ended up with a BMW, which has been briliant.

you need to test drive them, what someone else might like you might hate and vice versa

    cheers

  2. hi

As above for removing the key barrel

but to get the lock out, I recently did this on a friends car

remove the black plastic trim at the front, best is those plastic trim tool, then remove the plastic cover off the end of the dash, just clips off, once off there a large connector block, blocking your access, that also unclips and can be pushed to one side, then the ignition lock slots in at the top and clips in at the bottom, you lift the bottom clip and push the lock into the dash, then unplug the two connectors, its a bit of a fiddle as theres not much space and swap the lock as above.

but you will end up with two keys one for the door and new one for the lock, your next problem is it wont start, because the new key is not programed to the car, transponder in the key remote, we removed the transponder chip from the old key and put it  into the new key so the car would start.

    cheers

  3. Hi

on S-type the rear parking speaker usually lives under the rear parcel shelf

that speaker is for the rear parking sensor, if the beeping is coming from the overhead cosole thats usualy front parking sensors, which can be turned off on the overhead console

some S-types suffer with damp in the boot, which what causes problems with the module.

used modules also can be hit and miss, if there not off a similar spec car they wont work and have to be coded to the car like new ones.

usually is a sensor fault at the rear, you can hear them click usualy in reverse

    cheers

  4. Hi

Low battery will cause this, especially if its a diesel on startup, short runs will not allow the battery to recharge

ideally above 12.5 volts with engine off, if battery goes below 10.8 while cranking, it will put modules in fault.

youve not said what car it is but on S-types, XJ's and early XF's the battery voltage with the engine running will vary between 13.6volts and 15.3volts on first startup

but as allready said put it on charge overnight and see if it cures it

but start up take so much out of the battery, especially on diesels and a 15 minute run wont put back in what was taken out on startup

can recomend a CTEK smart charger which can be left on when not in use to keep the battery fully charged, CTEK as used by Jaguar oe chargers

    cheers
