  1. hi

a good quality car port with support legs would be better than a car cover long term

you wont get damp with a car port because your not blocking the cars ventillation, also car cover are know to marking the paint long term, where they rub

also get a descent smart charger like a ctek, to keep the battery charged

    cheers

  2. hi

you need to plug in to see what engine codes you have

the engine run quite hot anyway, 90 plus, you would not beable to touch it and if you opened the cap on a perfectly running car, it would blow all the water out, as removing the cap, will drop the pressure and drop the boiling point so the water would flash off, also a stuck thermostat would not cause a eml light, you would get a message saying its hot

    get code read

    could be absolutely anything

    cheers

  3. Hi

There should be no lag what so ever with a supercharger, its allways on boost because its mechanically connected, theres no spooling up as like a turbo

the supercharger is directly connected to the crank via a belt, so its allways creating boost proportianal to revs, the F-type uses a twin screw supercharger, which is perfect for the job and should create boost  all the time

if you have lag or its hesitant, there may be a issue, could be a split hose or air leak or even a slipping supercharger belt

    cheers

  4. hi

if you want reliable mapping that wont damage the engine, then you want it mapped at a proper place and fueling check on a rolling road

had my daily car done local to me, all setup on rolling road with great gains, map suited to my car for £235, some people offer generic maps and the fuel is not checked which can cause problems for future reliability

    cheers

  5. hi

the amount of time to charge the battery will vary on how low the battery is, but should take no more than a couple of hours, if the battery is healthy

you cant calculate how long it will take to charge a battery going off the AH rating of the battery, you can only calculate how long it will take to go flat from fully charged.

because of the different states of the battery, from flat to fully charged.

I have a Jaguar CTEK charger, which if the car has been used, once the charger is plugged in will go to fully charged and the monitor state in about 30 mins and there only a 3.3 amp charger, if the battery were a bit low, down to 12.2volts would only take just over an hour to fully charged state.

The CTEK charger can be left on long term because it does bulk charge, then drops to a trickle charge, then completely knock off, with no charge and only monitors the battery voltage, no current, then once the battery voltage drops to around 12.2-12.4 volts the charger kicks in again and trickles up to it knock off voltage, so even if you have had it connected to you battery for 24hours, does not means its been charging for 24hours, if its a healthy battery it many of only charged for 2 hours in that period, depending on battery state, older the battery, the more the battery will discharge and the ctek has to kick in to top it up.

also worth mentioning, make sure the battery has the factory breather still fitted, which vent the explosive gases vent outside the boot area, usually the pipe goes behind the rear bumper, this is usually not a problem without a trickle charger, as gas is only generated as the car is driven and general ventilation will get rid of it, but if your car is store in a garage and not moved, it can create gas in you boot, hence why they fitted a vent pipe.

  6. HI

rear module has nothing to do with the imobiliser chips in the keys

lock unlock is done by door module in the drivers door

and imobiliser is done by engine ecu and dash, they are both part of the pats security system

imobiliser coding is very rarely lost, unless you have had Jaguar ids/sdd plugged in and pressed the wrong buttons

swapping the dash, engine ecu or gearbox tcm could also cause this

you need to get it plugged in with Jaguar ids/sdd to see what the fault is and only this software can fix it if it has somehow lost the transponder imobiliser codes

    cheers

  7. Hi

    Wow Never seen that,

only time seen these fail, is when they either get low on Oil or overheat due to a water leak.

Even when they have been abused, not seen that, they will happily handle 750 bhp with a KB supercharger.

    love mine

    good luck with the build

    cheers

  8. Hi

connect it directly to the battery, make sure it has a inline fuse on the positive as close to the battery as possible

then just have the plug in the boot where its easy to access

I have the genuine jaguar ctek in mine, that cam with a proper socket thats mounted in the boot side carpet, so you just open the boot and plug the charger in, the boot can be closed while its on charge, the boot seal wont damage the cable, but make sure the battery vent pipe is still fitted, some people dont bother with the vent pipe on the battery, but it vent dangerous explosive gases out of the car, not trapped in the boot

  9. hi

if you mean the big nut in the prop coupling, the y shape part, there is no torque setting, hope you marked where and how many turns you took it off

the tightness of that nut effects the pinion to crown wheel clearance, so if it not correct, you get incorrect gear contact and premature gear failure,

there should be some resistance when you turn it and the amount of resistant is a measured value.

have the setting somewhere will try to find them

but look on you tube for differential stting procedure and you will know what i mean

if you marked the nut and counted the turns then it will be ok

My 2,7D is not in the List (EU), Manual says 6,5L. I used Castrol Magnatec 5/30 up until the last change. This Time there was a special offer 0n Castrol edge 5/30 ( And it was recommended forthe 2.7D) so I used that. I have noticed it takes just a tick longer for the oil light to go out. With 6 litres cold the dipstick is about 5/8. I have tried before with 6.5 and the level is at the top of the dipstick (over the top when hot) so 6L is OK.  New filter everytime.  Non DPF car, level is constant between changes every 10K Km

    hi

if you check jag repair it covers all cars including the diesel its all there http://www.jagrepair.com/

    specs are at http://www.jagrepair.com/images/AutoRepairPhotos/VSB_2007_2004.pdf

Joe As I'm new to the forum,  Ive taken a look at the information @ jagrepair.com It's looks very useful information but noticed its based in America. Am I to assume that the info is based on US spec S types? Is that spec different to the UK spec S types?

    thanks

    hI,

All the manuals cver all spec cars, they mostly for uk cars, as its a british car, on the wiring it will state what country if theres a difference, but the cars are all the same spec

  12. Hi

I had a stage 1 remap on my other daily car and it made a huge difference in performance , economy and driveabilty was much improved, thats a diesel as well.

but would recommend if you have it done , have it done properly, I paid £235 for mine and it took about 3 hours and was setup and checked on a dyno/rolling road they have.

some companies just flash a map in it and its not always setup correct to suit each individual car

    cheers

  13. hi

need to get codes read, ideally with Jaguar ids/sdd, or a Icarsoft LR V2, ideally when the fault is present, once you turn ignition off and on it will clear

could be something as simple as a abs sensor, gearbox relies on the abs sensors to shift

also turning at a junction may be a sign of abs fault, as you turn the wheels spin at different speeds and the abs kicks in, hence why some time when you pull out of a junction and floor it, it just pulls real slow and once the steering straightens up, she goes like a good un

  14. hi

as above really should take around 45 mins

machine only need to connect to the low pressure side

it should take so long as the machine should vac the system till it gets down to a certain vaccum level, then it holds it for around 15 to 30 minutes, to check for leaks, if the vac does not alter then the machine put in a preset weight of gas entered by the operator

sound like he just topped it up and did not check for leaks

you can get it checked and topped up for around £37 at ats euromaster with a groupon voucher, never had any problems with them

    https://www.groupon.co.uk/deals/ats-euromaster-5?deal_option=f726311d-bfd0-433c-afc1-419f0428134a

  15. hi

you need to get the codes read, ideally with Jaguar ids/sdd, that will give you what the fault is

depending on fault and gearbox type, a Oil change might help, depending on what the codes are, because if it were a solenoid fault, would be a waste of time changing the Oil

its poinless guessing could be one of many faults, could e a simple as a abs sensor

    cheers
