  2. As i'm no good at carpentry, i used a bit of 2x1" batten cut to length, drilled a couple of holes and called it good. However if you happen to know someone who is better at carpentry than me (that's almost anyone by the way!) you could maybe persuade them to get you a nice bit of mahogany or similar and chamfer the edges with a router (think that's the tool needed), drill and rebate the mounting holes, lacquer it and then mount the Leaper on it. If tht same person is good with plastic/perspex, they could make you a lid to keep the dust off as well..........
  3. Hello. Checking a warning light, I found the pressure sensor connector at the top front of the engine , just under the cover, was loose. I tried to clip it back on but the locking tab had snapped off. At the moment I'm using cable ties to hold it on. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement? The places I've tried want me to buy a complete loom.

  5. Have you tried lowering the door seal a little? Or used some rubber conditioner to help flex up the seal?
  6. I saw it on that site but all the indicators suggest it could well be a scammers site. Thank you for looking 馃槉
  7. I鈥檝e always been a jag admirer but I鈥檓 not a Jag owner, yet. I鈥檓 now into looking at the XF. Questions 1: Is it worth paying the extra for a a 2nd Gen (I believe 2015 - 2: If so, I have to have an auto and prefer diesel so what is the preferred engines and most reliable and economical? 3: Is the Sport model a better advantage? 4: Any pitfalls I need to be wary of? Thank you for any advice as this is a genuine enquiry into my very late (nearly 79) in life dream.
  8. After much ado I鈥檝e finally got my phone reliably connected to my xk 4.2 2006 amplifier. Had a wired fm modulator( see photo) fitted by a professional for 拢50, it has an Independent power supply to it hard wired in. When it was done it had loads of interference, contacted the supplier and told to fit a ground loop noise isolator ?? Thought he was just fobbing me off but 拢4.00 later I bought and fitted one from eBay. All fitted and works perfectly. All now hidden behind the radio including another power supply run from an outlet in the glove box to an adaptor to allow phone charging at the same time. All I have is one lead coming out of the dash to my phone. This car is also fitted with an electric aerial so I鈥檝e pulled the fuse to that and it stays down now All round a success story. A damned rare thing these days !
  9. Thanks Jim, yes exactly the same fault for me, I will do a similar repair until I can find a replacement hose, I have had this hose off before and it appears fine, I wonder if the spout on the tank softens with the heat and time and is compressed by the clamp? allowing the connection to fail and leak? Such a small issue that would cause a major problem. I will let you know how I get on. Thanks again for your help Regards Steve H

  11. Thanks for the info. I am starting wonder if this is the case. Though by only pressing the fob once I do notice that the red led starts to flash, so some alarm is set. Is there way to find out what alarm system is on the car, as manual seems to suggest that the movement sensor may be" an option" I will buy jumps leads.........belt n braces

  14. I made a tool by flattening the end of a welding rod and sharpening the flat to fit behind the bottom clip from the top to get the bottom of the strut off. The struts are after market and have a sticker with 4453 printed on it. They are 13 1/8 inches between the ball holes extended and 8 1/2 to 8 3/8 inches between them compressed. I find a number of 13 inch gas struts on Amazon rated from 20 pounds to 65 pounds, so the remaining question is what was the rating of the original struts or what pound rating should I order to make sure the bonnet will not come down in the wind at car shows. The bonnet weighs 23 pounds at the rear edge when closed to 10 inches on a scale without struts and that edge is 45 inches from the strut ball studs so the struts would have to be stronger to help lift the bonnet at the front.
  15. Having switched my allegiance from SAAB to Jaguar in or around 2008, purchased my first XF (Diesel second hand ) in 2010. See below next to my last Saab which I also still have. Owned two further XFs before switching to my current 2017 XF-S supercharged petrol. Love this car and will probably hang on to it forever 馃槣 . No intention of switching to EV despite test driving a Tesla S in 2019 ( ludicrous mode is exactly what it is) .
  16. Hi, new member here! I'm on my 5th Jag (XJS, XKR, XJ, XJR and currently driving about in a XJ 3.0i petrol Supersport with Blackpack murdered out spec). Invested in a SeaSucker the other week and just wondered if anyone else has tried them. Thanks Hugo
  17. Not done it myself but you warm the badge up with a hair dryer and use fishing line to remove the badge. If you're not a fisherman, I believe that dental floss makes a good alternative! 馃槈

  19. Good luck with the sale, but can't help think it would be better to have posted in the Marketplace Section of the Forum, at the bottom of the page. Unlikely folks are going to come looking in the Model Section of the Forum for cars up for sale. N6 JMX
  20. Great news Steve and thanks for the update.
  21. Thanks very much for your comments. Regards Alan
  22. Still available, I don't have an XJR to put it on !
  23. Only SDD/IDS can access immobiliser faults. Then you can remove the battery sounder and strike it off the dealer options. A fault signal from the battery sounder will trigger the main alarm. Diagnostics will tell you if a module is playing up, all in all recommended. Until then you are doing as much as you can.
  24. Good luck with the sale and sorry to hear of your diagnosis. Reminds me of my first Jag ~30 years ago, Sov 4.2, same colour and year on an Irish "private" plate. Visually very similar externally but interior is very different and obviously it was missing 6 cylinders!

  27. Hi my sovereign 2008 76k miles has just failed its MOT. Nothing mechanical. Rather the dust covers need replacing on the wishbone and track rods. But the garage are insisting that it's impossible to just replace the dust covers, the wishbone and track rods need replacing. The covers are too badly damaged Is this correct its an extra 拢1200? They changed the anti roll bar covers last year without any trouble. Any help is much appreciated. Steve
  28. Airlocks in the cooling system? Can cause excess pressure in the expansion/header tank and force coolant out leaving even more air in the system. Top up each morning when cold and try to park overnight with the front of the car nose down if the expansion tank is by the bulkhead like in the S Type or if the expansion tank is near the front, face uphill to help get the air out.
  29. i was outside my house working on a friends car and randomly heard my xtypes engine fan rev up. thought was weird because key was not in or near car. came up with security failed on dash. started the car in the hopes it would fix it, and it wouldn't turn off at ignition at all, only way was to disconnect fuel pump relay and unhook battery to stop power going to dash and lights . have checked all fuses/relays. and just cant figure out whats wrong with it. perhaps ignition barrel? or worse?
