Hi Vic, The vacuum suggestion is good, I know the rubber diaphragms can split and there is a repair kit available. I will test it first, assuming I can find them. Tried replacing the batteries with no change, my power supply has arrived so hopefully tomorrow I can wire up the car and use SDD to verify the fob. Onwards and upwards.

Hi Jim, That really is very helpful. Thank you so much. A.

Hi Andrew, the service regime on a Modern XK falls into 2 categories, A and B service options and are time or mileage dependent, whichever comes first. In the notes below it is time in months / mileage. A Services: 12/15, 36/45, 60/75, 84/105, 108/135 and so on. B Services: 24/30, 48/60, 72/90, 96/120, 120/150 and so on. Some service items are time dependent and some are mileage dependent and it is quite difficult to be overly specific regarding a car that is not doing the mileage, but being serviced annually on the time element. Spark plugs are listed to be renewed at the A Service for 105k miles. Also at 105k miles, the Supercharger belt should be replaced - obviously only for the Supercharged cars. At 150k miles, the front accessory belt should be renewed. There is a caveat against the Service items above that these 3 items are specifically Mileage related and not defined by time. Generally speaking, every annual Service should see the Renewal of the Oil and oil Filter, plus Renewal of the Pollen Filter. Every second Service, the B Service, then the Brake Fluid should be renewed. Hope this helps. N6 JMX

After a thought, I’m starting to lean towards the battery for some of your problems too, the same as the others above. I’ve had a battery before that’s failed after a few months. The rp maybe different and I’m surprised it’s giving no codes - as I say, a warm favourite is a vacuum leak The keyfob? I would be trying a new battery in it first if none of the buttons are working - starting the car has nothing to do with the battery in the fob

Hi Vic, The vehicle is a 2008 XF 2.7D. The codes are in the first message. The fob stopped working when the battery was disconnected for a week or so, the fob works perfectly when inserted so will try to wake them up through SDD. The RFA shows a big red cross on when checking the modules on SDD. Previously there was a fault code with the MAF's so when cleaning didn't work I replaced the two and a new air filter and no fault codes for the MAF for the past 150 miles. The limp mode is restricted performance / DSC not available..... and with the fault code generated by the ABS ( See first message ) is the reason I was moving towards the wheel sensors. Three times today with limp mode, so frustrating.

Rfa is remote fob somethingorother…It’ll be the module You don’t tell us what your car and year is. If you disconnected the battery, it may have messed up its security settings, these will have to be reprogrammed via sdd. This happens between the years approx 2012 till 2015 You don’t tell us the codes that are still showing I would extremely doubt if the abs code is causing the rp - your brakes will still work and I think it would show a light on the dash Check very carefully the control boxes in the boot and the drivers footwell for any signs of water ingress, plugs too A usual suspect for rp at your revs is unmetered air getting drawn into the air intake, but that would throw a fault code
-
So just to update, having fully charged the battery the issue with restricted performance is still occurring. Some of the codes have disappeared which may be due to the battery or some of the work I have been applying to the car. I have cleaned the earth points in the boot, under both front wing liners, and behind front N/S light. Does anyone know of any more? I am working through SDD and its pointing towards ABS issue, am planning to change all 4 sensors this week. Any other advice or suggestions would be welcome.

Rain water coming in under passenger seat.
Eddie Brzoza replied to Eddie Brzoza's topic in Jaguar Technical
Thanks for the reply. I am sure it is rain water it only leaks when it rains but don`t know why it comes through the air vents under the passenger seat. I have tried a hose pipe but it does not leak. I don`t know why. I must admit that I hardly use me jaguar not been in it this year. I run it every month to make sure all is okay. There is no sunroof it`s not that. Will keep looking and let you know if I solve the problem. -

Rain water coming in under passenger seat.
Eddie Brzoza replied to Eddie Brzoza's topic in Jaguar Technical
Thanks for taking the time to reply. I must admit that I rarely use my jaguar and I assume that the car needs to be running for the AC system for water to build up and come out of the vents under the passenger seat. But I will check that when I run the engine for a while and let you know. -

Gearbox Rotary Switch Repair Service
Nige005 replied to Nige005's topic in XK8 / XKR ( X100) 1996 - 2006
Sorry to hear of your troubles. a terrible thing to happen, hope you can find some solution. I have no idea what is happening when you have a failure like you had, perhaps it would be stuck in the gear it was in at the moment of failure, I just don't know. If it was a catastrophic failure in the engine and/or gearbox I s'pose at that point it doesn't really matter, it's going to be a major repair either way. There is a fairly easy way to release the run of the mill stuck in Park problem, it will be in the Drivers Manual or you'll find many " how to " on line If it's just a simple problem ( ie flat battery, faulty brake light switch etc. ) Sadly it seems that you may have more of a problem than this, good luck with a fix. Nige.
