That's the D2B connector Phil. The white cap on it is a terminator. If you do the mod, don't lose it as if you need to remove a D2B module for any reason you'll need to re-establish the loop topography of the fibre optic network.

In more techy terms, if you don't bung it back the whole thing won't work :)

The small power connector will be in the loom somewhere as well.

If you haven't got it already you will need the mounting rack. If you have sat nav or premium audio or bluetooth you'll probably have the rack.

Have you got any other modules in the boot?

No it's a bear cupboard, but the changer I'm looking at is in its cradle plus cradle for satnav. So if I remove my audio unit from dash is there a loom to connect to or maybe behind glove box?so does that cable I've pictured go into cdc? Then what had to be done up front of car IE connections ect.

You have nothing to do at the front of the car Phil. The D2B will already be connected to your head unit.

You might have to go to a dealer or indie to get the car to recognise the CDC but the last four I've fitted for people didn't need that.

The connector picture you uploaded confirms that you have D2B Phil, I'd say your CDC will be the same as mine:-   1X43-1BC830-AC

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/04-09-JAGUAR-X-TYPE-CD-MULTI-CHANGER-6-DISC-CD-PLAYER-1X43-18C830-AC-/381272175419?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item58c597b33b

This link shows an example.

If the CDC has a 12 pin connector on the back it is NOT D2B compatible.

The link I've included is just the first one I found but if that's not to your taste then you need to be looking for a CDC from a late model S Type or X Type or X350. If they know what they are talking about they will know about D2B.

Do a search on Fleabay for the part number Phil, specifically, look at the prices paid for CDCs sold recently. You can get one with an S Type rack for about £70 if you're prepared to wait.

BTW, the X Type rack doesn't fit the S Type... I know, been there, done that, got the T-Shirt :(

If you end up with one that doesn't have a cartridge, I believe I have one or two lying around here somewhere :)

Cheers your a gent, as I've just bought car it's going into a indi in stockport on Thursday as climate no good and keep getting eml on which is coming up maf sensor. So just going make sure it all gets sorted and of course at car dealers expense. So soon as all sorted I'm going to be looking at a few upgrades.

Yes. The CDC has a separate power supply cable. It has been somewhere in the loom on each car I've seen so far Phil.

It might be stashed behind the Kaiser panel and will probably be covered in foam.
