Question about size of Kalimnos alloys on my XF Sportbrake

Recommended Posts

Hi folks

My first post on here - hoping someone can help with a small wheel-related mystery that's puzzling me....

I've got Kalimnos alloys on my 2015 XF Sportbrake R-Sport,  but I may need to replace one due to a couple of cracks.  All of the info I've found indicates that the rear wheels should be 9.5J on the XF Sportbrake, but mine are 8.5J.  Is this normal / okay and nothing to worry about, or should they really be 9.5J?

Thanks in advance for any insights / advice.

Regards

Carl

hi

usually the R's have staggered larger tyres at the rear, if yours are the same all rounds, odds are there not the original wheels and are off a normal xf

there's nothing to worry about, they just usually have wider rear for the extra power

cheers

Many thanks for the reply, Joe - much appreciated.  That's reassuring.

One other question - might be a bit of a stupid one but here goes - I've managed to find a single 9.5J, rather than an 8.5J.  Until I find another 9.5, is it okay to mix different widths on the rear, i.e. one 9.5 and one 8.5, or would that cause problems?

Hi

No leave it till you have a pair, for one it will be illegal and will make the car handle and stop erratic

best to leave it as it is, till you have a pair

also the narrower will be better in winter as well, especially if we get any snow,

cheers

Joe

I think the 3.0D 'S' (275ps) Sportbrake had wider alloys on the rear but the 2.2 and 3.0D (240ps) versions, including the R-Sport, were the same width all round.
