The X type gets a lot of stick for being a "Mondeo" read this from Top Gear - A Guilty Pleasure

Hi Aubrey, it might get a lot of stick for being a Ford Mondeo in Sheeps Clothing but my High Gloss Black 2003 Sports V6 SALOON gets a lot of admiring comments from other Drivers practically every day and still looks the Bees Knees . A good looking car and a match I would say for any of the plastic monotype cars of today. Keep it clean and polished with a good Ceramic Glaze polish and well maintained for a great driving experience.

When Jaguar bought the Halewood factory the last Mondeo had a Jaguar Badge.  Six months later the X Type went on to the road.  It was a different car although some of the engines were similar to Ford.  The s type used the chassis of the Lincoln.

Both these cars were real Jaguars.

I lived 5 miles away from Halewood and when the Mondeo finished so did Ford of Halewood.

Full stop.

Hi There,

I put the article on as it actually is on the side of the X type, as am I.

I have owned an X type and they are great to drive.

Its just some people do look down on the X as not a real Jaguar, in my opinion mistakenly.

The one I have seen and really like is the racing green with cream interior, looks so good.

Then it would surely be safe to say the Aston Martin DB7 is a Ford also?

Although it is made up of predominately Jaguar parts?

Hi Julie

Mine is a Gloss Black Sport with half leather seats and although also a 2003 has only done 114.000 miles looks great and still goes like a rocket when its legal to do so of course ???<😏

To be fair, at the time I don't think anybody was saying that the X Type was a bad car in it's own right, the problem was simply that it wasn't considered to be a "true" Jag because it was based on the Mondeo.

I think that analogy has got lost over the years and when people hear it said now, they just assume that it wasn't a very good car.

How wrong can they be, the number of times other drivers comment on how good my x type looks , it is a good looker in Gloss Black and miles apart from some of the mass jobs produced today, its a classy looking vehicle and if looked after motors along very well.

My X Type is a Jaguar on the log book and drives like a Jaguar so its a "JAGUAR" not a Ford its a great car ???
