Hey there guys.

I would like to upgrade my sat nav system to the 2011/12 but can't seem to find the discs anywhere.

I've seen some on the net at £25-£30 but have heard that these (cheaper) ones can fry the sysyem completely. Does anyone know where I could get the latest disc/s from at a good price as I could buy a complete new system for the price Jaguar seem to be charging.

Thanks in advance,

Brigham

Given how p*** pathetic the Jag system is to begin with, is it really worth bothering anyway? I've given up on mine and continue to use the little £70.00 Garmin from my pre-Jag days! Or does the current DVD add useful things that would make all the difference..?

Hi. Having just bought a 2009 X-Type (my 4th X-Type), I was finding the same problem, as the maps onboard were 2008/2009.

After looking round for some time, I decided to trust to luck, and ordered the 2011/2012 maps from www.satnavi.com (recommended by Honest John in the Daily Telepgraph Feb.12).

The DVD duly arrived, and, with trepidation, I took out the disc already loaded and put the new one in.

So far, everything seems fine, so I am (again, so far!) delighted, as the cost was £34.99 inc. postage - a hell of a lot cheaper than the price being demanded by Jaguar.

Hope this is useful.

I have recently had to part with my x type,it got killed by a Mercedes 4x4 so I have genuine jaguar 2011/2012 sat nav disc for sale that I bought from jaguar at a reasonable price as I have now got a Volvo at only £20 tax a year but a couple of years will go back to jag as I do miss it. I live in bristol, any reasonable offers welcome.

i bought mine off ebay for £30.00 never been a problem i think they only upgrade maps so don't expect too much

A few weeks ago I upgraded my car.

Had, 2008 X Type Auto Est Chilly red with half black leather few toys, no sat nav, with 190,615 miles on the clock

Now, 2008 X Type Auto Est Chilly red with full cream leather loads of toys, inc sat nav, and 75,000 miles on the clock

Having driven the car and used the sat nav a number of times I would not buy an X Type on the sat nav feature alone, possibly the most disappointing feature it has, compared to a stick-on-the-screen TomTom

Anyway, it has a 2009 sat nav DVD. Minutes ago I bought a 2012 DVD for £9 here

At £9 I doubt this is a genuine disc, probably a copy, but at £9 who cares. I hope the seller is back soon with a 2015 copy for the same price

Does she (Miss Sat Nav) still tell you to `turn right soon`? Soon?? That does annoy me! But in general I have found the sat nav ok. The bluetooth is my problem...

Yes I know what you mean I call her Mrs Bucket. I only use bluetooth for my phone and it seems to work ok but it took a while for me to program it mainly because I did not set my phone to converse with the Jaguar settings.

I hope that helps

www.mapdiscs.co.uk sell the updated jaguar dvd discs for £19.99, worked straight away for me arrived in 2 days.

Hi I bought one last year for £25.00 and was reassured by the seller that if I had any difficulty he would refund the money. I duly received the CD and it loaded it easily in my XF however it would not play in English but every other language but English. I duly contacted the buyer who sent me a replacement without any bother although he did offer to refund me.I found the supplier  it on E bay but I cant remember the site. I have been satisfied with the Sat Nav although there are better ones out there than Jagua.

Updating the Sat Nav should be a task done by Jaguar at little or no extra cost during servicing. That's my opinion

It all depends what you mean by a little  ---  the last disc produced to fit the x type and s type is the 2012/13 disc.  A main dealer will supply one for £160.  You can get one from various sources such as eBay for around £30.

I bought one of the £25 disks off ebay. They load fine.

However. A Tesco store was built close by, 8 years ago, and the disc still doesn't know it's there.

That seems fair, Graham.  The disc knows that most people in Cheshire don't go to Tesco.

The 2012 upgrade works fine in my x type but obviously it does not know about the new AWPR and crossing the new Forth Bridge is fun as well.

HI I have a 11 plate XF portfolio and would like to upgrade sat nav. I have mate he has a 2017 plate would his disks upgrade my vehicle please???

Welcome to the club, Graham.

Does your Sat Nav run on a disc?  If so you can look to buy one.

If otherwise and the Sat Nav needs updating you might have to go to a main dealer, as far as I know.

Peter.
