New XK Coupe Porfolio edition

I bought a new XK in Coupe in 2007, kept it for 15,000 miles (3 years) sold it and suffered a lot of depreciation. However, I now find myself tempted by the extraordinary deals available on a new XK Coupe Portfolio which has changed quite a lot since my first one. Of course I am aware that the model will have a serious revamp in the near future, but nevertheless the design still looks fantastic. Also, I understand that the Portfolio is at end of life and the next version will be the Signature with more options included and a greatly reduced OTR list price....anyone know any more about this?.

I have a choice of Rhodium Silver with 20" Kalimnos or Polar White with the same wheels, but the dealer will spray them black............any opinions to help me decide?

Also, does anyone know a link where I can find all the subtle changes to the XK since it's inception in 2006?

Hi Colin

The car would definitely look better in silver with black wheels in my mind.

Maybe they will sell you the older spec model with more options thrown in to clear out that range?

Good luck on whatever you decide

Hi Trevor

Thanks for your opinion.......now I am in a fix.......I had only considered silver with alloy wheels and white with the alloys sprayed black. I hope to make a decision today and of course, whilst ultimately it is a matter of personal preference, I do appreciate other views. I am trying to visualise the car whilst at the same time considering future saleability!

Regards, Colin

I've got black wheels, kalaminos and they were ordered that way. I think the choice depends a little on the 'look' that you are trying for. If you want more of a 'racer' look then go black. If you want more of a svelte, well healed look go alloy. Silver is lovely either way. I personally wouldn't buy new. I bought mine (XK/R) a year and a bit old and it had already depreciated 50%. Could have bought an older one and saved a few bucks. They are very well engineered, and mileage isn't really an option.

It looks very good, Graham.

I was behind an XK Couple yesterday afternoon, dark green with black wheels   --- it leo looked great.

You are right about depreciation. I bought an 8 month old Rover Sterling in 2000 --  2.5 litre V6, with very bell and whistle a 1999 car could have.  New it cost £27k, and 8 months later I paid £12500.  I kept it till 2011!

Enjoy your XK.

Regards,

Peter.

In the end I opted for a Jaguar XK Signature in white with lots of options as standard - I am having the wheels sprayed black. You will be aware that the XK pricing has decreased substantially which should help just a little bit with regard to depreciation!

The local dealership has some very good offers on all models, Colin.  They wanted me to change my S Type for a more up to date model, but being almost 80, cash needs to be more in my back pocket at the moment than in a car dealers, and I enjoy my S Type very much.

Regards,
