  4. The XF is going and for my Birthday and start of retirement I had decided to go for something less flamboyant and lower performance as a nice little runaround.... NOT πŸ˜‰ And here she is:- Deposit paid and due for arrival mid December. She has just about every bell and whistle on board as well πŸ˜‰ For those who have less than perfect sight, the red text to the left of the "R" badge on the boot lid is:- 5...7...5 πŸ™‚

  5. I know that many things here won't apply in SoCal...but the smell of Jaguar is always sweet, even in the midst of troubles. It's not a matter of if you love it. It is a matter of what would you do without it! For me a 1999 XJR about 10 years ago and a one owner 2003 XJR (X308) now. So as owner number two I have to try harder. I have seen the assistance here and hope perhaps I may one day have something to offer also.

  6. Several members of this forum are aware of my present situation and have been asked to keep it to themselves, however, I feel that I should perhaps update anybody who is concerned. We are currently having to deal with the very real possibility that my Wife's breast cancer has returned. In addition, I have just been allowed home following somewhat major surgery. Apologies if these things got in the way of the standard of service some VERY new members appear to expect from me. OTH kindly took the trouble to hint that sometimes people are not available, thanks BTW Frank, but clearly that cut no ice with certain new members whose enthusiasm for the forum as a whole, is clearly evidenced by your singular lack of any input other than to harrangue me. As far as PMs go, one unanswered should have been sufficient. I did not need the follow up. Those who use this forum on a regular basis will be aware that I tend to try assisting where possible as fully as possible and as fast as possible, even as far as hosting people and their cars at my house free of charge and usually with lunch thrown in. I will, of course, endeavour to continue to do so as time and circumstance permit. As to the answer to certain questions of a technical nature? Well, I am still perfectly willing to assist those I can but for some reason I appear to become flustered when pressured / harangued, becoming unable to recall the required detail, unfortunately. However, I am by no means the only forum member with experience of the electronic functions of the S-Type and I fel sure they will be able to assist, approached in a reasonable manner. Please be aware that, although I am, for the moment at least, a moderator on this forum, my comments above are my own personal views and do not reflect the views of the forum admin. Therefore those who might feel offended by my candour should, if required, raise it with the admin. Finally, to all of those who have wished us well and offered support I would like to thank you sincerely on behalf of us both πŸ™‚ Nil carborundum illigitimum.

  7. If I was a religious individual I'd be on my knees saying thank you. We've now had confirmation that Marion's breast cancer has not in fact returned. We both send thanks to those who wished us well recently πŸ™‚

  10. ...and my pair.... I've had the Sportbrake for 6 years and the X-Type for 12 months. It still has under 27k on the clock, serviced every 12 months and an interior like new. It even had the previous owners leather driving gloves in the glove box along with a bag of Werthers πŸ™‚ It now has new sills and is fully Lanoguarded underneath. Failed 2 MOTs in its life, once for headlight aim and once for sills in 2017. Currently working on the original wheels but got some refurbed X-Triple 5 on at the moment with Goodyear Vector 3 all seasons.

  16. Hello from North Somerset. I have just bought (and fell in love with) a 2009 2.2 X Type. I’m looking forward to browsing the forums and hopefully being able to sort out the few very minor niggles with what I’m sure is going to be a great car. I would also be very interested in any meets that may be in my area.

  19. Hi all! I bought my first ever Jag today after dreaming of owning one since I was a kid. I bought a very tidy 2006 2.2l diesel X Type that has done 72k miles with full service history! Very excited to be apart of this community!

  20. Well.....it's fixed!! After a lengthy fuse pulling exercise and replacing back.....the XF has sorted itself. Still baffled which fuse it was because it showed no obvious spiking. However, ever since for the last 2-3 weeks it is working perfectly. Can only suspect dodgy loose fuse or connection. Still not a complete answer, but thought I'd let you guys know that if you have the same trouble, this worked a treat for me.

  21. Just like to say hello from North Lincolnshire. I've recently become an owner of a beautiful 2015 Jaguar Xf. It's a car that I've coveted since their introduction and have now realised an ambition of owning one. Thanks for accepting my request to join the forum, I'm looking forward to learning lots from you very knowledgeable guys.

  24. Today I was shown around a friend's new car, of which he was justly proud, a VW Polo 6. So enthusiastic was he that he insisted I go for a ride with him to see how it performed. Some way down the A449, we came upon a Jaguar in the inside lane and he said with relish "Let's burn this thing off the road... " I said "It's a Jaguar" his reply "Those jags are overrated" I didn't bother to enquire as to the performance of his VW. In the event, nothing came of it as we hurtled past the Jaguar without any sign of it wishing to take part in a race. I noticed the jaguar had a label on the boot. It was XJR575. I can't help thinking that my young friend was just a tad optimistic ')

  25. Having switched my allegiance from SAAB to Jaguar in or around 2008, purchased my first XF (Diesel second hand ) in 2010. See below next to my last Saab which I also still have. Owned two further XFs before switching to my current 2017 XF-S supercharged petrol. Love this car and will probably hang on to it forever 😜 . No intention of switching to EV despite test driving a Tesla S in 2019 ( ludicrous mode is exactly what it is) .

  29. Had my car in for it's MOT today, apart from advisories on tyres which are getting replaced next week anyway and rear brake pads which are getting replaced during the service, it had a clean bill of health. Very happy with that, I've owned the car for 12 months and only had to put fuel in it. 😁

  32. Hi Dan, sorry for your loss but I hope you find the JOC community able to assist you with your task. Appreciate you are new to the Forum, but if you explore the Forum Pages a little deeper, you will find that there is a specific section for dealing with the sale of cars. In the Forum front page, scroll to the bottom of the viewable pages and you will find there a "Sale" section. Make a post in there, listing the exact model of car including year, engine size, fuel type, mileage, condition, etc, Ideally, you should also provide an indication of the sale price you are looking for from the car - sorry I can't help you with that as I am not knowledgeable on the S-type models. You will also be able to attach some photos to show the car, ideally in a good light and a suitably picturesque location - driveway is not ideal but better than nothing. Show photos of the side, three-quarter view, rear and front. Show the fitted wire wheels in a separate image close-up. Provide an image of the interior, front and back, and one of the boot and engine bay - bonnet raised. Give mention of the MoT history, i.e. does it have a current MoT and the expiry date. Mention the service history - where it was performed and at what intervals. Let folks know how long the car was with your dad and how he used it - daily driver, weekend car, show car, etc. Hope this helps guide you to make a listing in the correct location of the site. Good Luck. N6 JMX

  33. Hi Phil Assuming your purchase date was 1st June 2024 and not 1st June 2014 you need to go straight back to the dealer you bought it from. They are legally bound under the Sale of Goods Act 1979 to provide that "goods delivered or sold must be of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose". First recourse is to give them the opportunity to sort it out. Regards John

  34. Had a great time at Bridgnorth Rugby club with ARC events Classic car show. Great weather and lots of different marques of cars, including those from Shropshire Jaguars Owners, who helped run the event. Exhibitor tickets sold out before the event, it was very well attended and the atmosphere was superb . Any one who lives in Shropshire who is interested in local meetings and trips with SJO, please contact me for more details. Our next big event is Ludlow Race Course in June, a bigger and even better event at a fantastic venue. Food Available, Bar, stalls, Entertainment and of course beautiful Jaguars. See Events section in Jaguar Owners for details. We can offer a discount on show tickets to Jaguar Owners Members. https://www.facebook.com/reel/1553119958580767/

  35. Hello, fellow Jaguar enthusiasts, I'm John Kattenhorn, and I'm excited to finally be joining this community. I've been promising myself to get more involved since January! My recent journey with Jaguar began in 2021. My wife and I have always had a passion for unique vehicles, which led us to acquire two Jaguars - an I-Pace for our company and an F-Type R as a retirement gift. The F-Type was particularly special as a substitute for our motorcycle adventures, which my wife was enjoying less. I mostly did the longer rides to spend time with her. πŸ™‚ The F-Type R has been our faithful companion, especially during the summer months. It has significantly reshaped our travel preferences. Since COVID-19, we've found joy in exploring Europe's scenic routes in the F-Type, favoring it over flying. We are pretty excited to be awaiting the arrival of our new F-Pace SVR next Tuesday. It's set to replace our I-Pace as our daily driver. We've had only one issue with the I-Pace's charging flap, but aside from that, it's been flawless. I'll be sad to see it go. Surprisingly, I find myself feeling nostalgic about the Jaguars we are losing as the brand progresses through its transformation. I'm here to contribute to the community, share experiences, and learn. Looking forward to an engaging and enriching experience here. Best regards, John

  40. Welcome aboasrd Derek! With your side repeater, remove the lamp as you did to replace the bulb, disconnect the plug and spray some switch/contact cleaner into the end of the plug and on the contacts in the lamp holder. Refit, test. You may have to repeat this several times before the combination of dis/re-connect and the switch cleaner cleans the oxidisation off the contacts. If several attempts don't fix it, do similar with the bulb and holder but also worth checking the bulb actually works.

  42. Hi Ian Stop/Start is quite a marmite function. Most people love it or hate it. Potential negatives are usually related to engine and/or starter wear and tear. Most engine and starter pinion wear is at start up, however stop/start actually pre-engages the starter pinion so not really an issue. The middle position is people not liking not being in control or insecurity that engine will start again πŸ™‚ Positives are that it does reduce emissions (the actual rationale for its introduction). If it engages you know your battery/batteries are OK as it will not engage if it is not sure it can restart the car. Personally I let it engage at least once each journey before disabling as this confirms batteries are OK. If going anywhere when car is to be left for a few days I would always disable as the XF does conduct occasional self tests of the battery which involves discharging to 75% capacity. My concern is always that id gets to that point just before I park up so instead of starting with 100% I would be starting with 75% 😞 As you may know the XF along with many modern cars does seem to suffer from parasitic drain so I only leave mine for a week at most before attaching my ctek. 43. I seem to have fixed it ! Replaced the memory switch on the door and immediately had the correct operation of the memory functions, but still no drivers seat forward and back movement with the engine running. At this point, I thought that I was still going to need to use SDD to diagnose and possibly have to replace the seat module. Then I thought, what if it has a stored fault code generated by the faulty memory switch ? Connected my code reader and, sure enough, B1B88 was showing. Cleared the code and all working fine since then.

  44. With such a low annual mileage for a Diesel I would be inclined to use an injector cleaner additive and then take it for a good long run at fairly high (but legal) speed.May be a build up of contamination caused by long standing period.

  47. Probably but 2016 is only a year behind 2015 in terms of ageing and fading. Why not just revive your existing headlamps using T-Cut or one of the headlamp renovation kits available online? Would be cheper and much less grief in the long run and you won't need to come back next year and ask if 2017 headlamps will fit a 2015 car and so on. πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜„

Hi all, just bought my first Jaguar 2 weeks ago, 07 plate S Type, it's been looked after very well, mostly Jaguar dealer stamps in the service book, A very low 76,000 miles, It's just a dream to drive. Already had lots of comments, nice car, lovely car, even had a merc driver tell me how nice a car it was. Hope to meet some of you at future meets. Dave in Yorkshire.
