Soo I took the plunge and swapped a perfectly good E Class Merc for the S type I have at present .. I havent owned a Jag since the 90s . And the 5 I owned from 81 to 97 were all XJ6 s .
Jim
Welcome to the club/forum. My goodness you certainly had your share of XJ6s. Fifty One cars in sixteen years could possibly be classed as an obsession to Jaguars.
Good luck with your S-Type and keep the battery regularly and well charged, to avoid electrical and numerous warnings cropping up. I use a CTEK MS 7 with my S-Type and have it on charge at least once a week for at least 24 hours. I learnt by experience that it was the safest way of avoiding many false and misleading readings and warnings.

Hello,
It seems through getting in and out has taken it's toll on the drivers door rubber seal which has chunks missing from it.
Has anyone ant idea where I can get a replacement?
It doesn't help I don't know what to call it when doing a search.

Hi - I have a late 2015 XF and have received an e mail from Jaguar very recently saying new updates are available for Europe and incl Russia! The customer service as often are rubbish and only seem interested in warranty cars and seem to have no knowledge. Take it to your dealer! So I do that which is not local and pay them plus for updates. What should have been a simple download was not possible to do via SD card via computer. The whole Jaguar website could be far easier and I use many. The system is not the best anyway but I only want UK updates. Any comments on this please? I'm not sure if you can just select UK and any idea how much these updates cost? cheers
Tim
Think you have said it all about Jaguar.

Hello everyone,
Newbie here, joined today. Had some strange happenings all within same week on my XF 2013/14 and looking for some help.
- Climate control - all electrics work apart from the shutters have stopped working on vents and no air at all.
- Eco - Electrics work on switch and instrument panel but engine not cutting out or restarting at all.
- Wipers work ok but full bottle of water and no water supply at all.
The first I noticed was the air con / climate control, my first thought was change the fuse. Then the other two going have made me think whether there is a master fuse for this group of electrics. Engine compartment fuse box looks all in order ( apart from no location numbers for the fuses, I know the air con is a 5a fuse in location 35, but which one is that ? there are 7 5a fuses )
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Patrick

Welcome to the club/forum.
Fuse locations are usually listed in your handbook. If not then plenty of diagrams on the internet showing fuse layout plans.
www.jaguar.com is also a very very useful source of information by particular car model.

Hi all,
I am hoping there is someone on here who could assist in a problem.
I have a 1974 Jaguar series 3 e-type roadster LHD that was imported from USA. The car came with a jaguar V12 engine, however it is not original to the car and we believe that it is from another model jaguar of that time as it is carbs and not fuel injected. Is there someone on here who could tell me what car this engine is from with just the engine number. The number on the engine is '7P 6459 SA'.
I am trying to get a new starter motor for it and any I have sourced for a v12 e-type seem to only work for a small time and then fail. Can we have some assistance at all from anyone please it would much appreciated.
Regards
Gary.

Jaguar Heritage would probably be able to tell you exactly .

You need to invest in a CTEX MS 7 or MS 10 battery charger/restorer and keep your battery well charged at all times. My S Type goes on charge at least once a week for at least 24 hours. Jaguar are prone to Parasitic Discharge and will cause many faults and problems if not kept on a high charge,

Wow!! My local jaguar specialist has quoted me £1428.98 for a full service and cambelt replacement.
Labour costs:
£168.00 for the service
£528.00 for the cam belt.
Total: £696.00
The remainder is made up of parts costs + VAT.
That is probably why it is successful and profitable to be a Jaguar Dealer .

No not a dealer
NOT really how I would expect a private seller to respond to this statement. Consideration to removing the post should be made. Unless the status can be proved otherwise.

Thank you John, really good advice there. Would you recommend the 7 or the 10 other one another, or would both do a satisfactory job? Also, haven’t had a car needing its batteries charged before, does one need to remove the battery for charging? Thank you very much.
Charles
I bought a MS 7 because it can also be used as a tender to start a flat battery. I believe the MS 10 also has the same ability but is dearer than the MS 10. I also bought an adapter (again from CTEK) to install in the boot of my S-Type so as I do not need to keep connecting the CTEK to the battery. The battery connections are left permanently in place. CTEX have a good video on their own website and all of the products are listed and priced as well. No, you do not need to remove the battery. With the adapter CTEK have available it literally takes two minutes to connect and have the battery on charge. Well worth the investment in my opinion.

My XF is due it’s 10 year service soon so I contacted a local Jaguar independent garage for a quote.
I’ve asked for the cam belt, fuel pump belt, tensioners and water pump to be changed.
They have replied with prices but have advised that the rear fuel pump belt and water pump don’t really need to be done.
Should I have them done anyway or leave them?
The car has done nearly 80k and only does about 6k a year, it’s a 3.0D.
Any advice?
Thanks.
I personally believe the water pump and belt should be done, on the basis of assuring that it hopefully does not need doing in the future. "Belt and Braces" maybe, but could also be "First spend is the cheapest spend", or "Better safe than sorry".

Hi John as you say both banks would have the problem that did happen, but it started with just the one bank, this did not last long before both banks showed up.
Mark
Fortunately my problem was/is restricted to Bank 1. Every thing is still working well at the moment, having done some 500 miles now with no re-occurrence. Fingers well and truly crossed.
