Please, does anyone know if the little round spotlights set in the bumper of the Facelift S-Type are replaceable without removing the Front Bumper?
Thanks and Regards, John

There are numerous submissions on this section regarding the long time it took to get to the bottom (so I thought) of my P0420 codes and problems.
In brief, July last year (61847 mls) Full service (all filters new) and Inlet Manifold removed to fit new manifold gaskets (6x Jaguar original)., 6x New Ignition Coils (Denso as original), 6x New spark plugs (NGK0, 2 New Lambda Sensors (Up and Down Stream. Denso, as Original), New Catalytic Converter. The car had been misfiring and I believe it killed the existing Cat Conv, (which had disintegrated internally).
Since then to date (09.06.2022) car has travelled 4,233 miles (66080). During that time I have had on three occasions a P0420 code arise. The third being yesterday. Each time before, I had checked all joints in air intake system from filter to manifold with no leaks detectable. MAT has been checked and is OK. When code is cleared the car is A1 for about 400/500 mls and then the code reappears, as it did yesterday. Have not yet removed the code on this occasion.
Being as every thing was NEW and to OE Specification can anyone offer an explanation or advice on why this code, all be it very intermittently, keeps reoccurring ? All of this is obviously subject to Bank 1. Never had any problems with Bank 2.

Thank you for your comments and concerns.
I totally agree with you on condition, hence why I will not offer much more. I do however relish the challenge of a car like this condition, and spending a fair amount of time refurbishing. The works are not a great problem for me as I would enjoy doing this with my son, my only concern is how much I will part with before hand.
Carl
Time , work and money not being much of a consideration then I suggest you go for it and be prepared to produce a show stopper of a car. Looking forward to seeing the photos as the job progresses.

This link no longer works. May I respectfully suggest the topic is unpinned as broken links make a forum look uncared for.

I have just tried the link and it worked.

Your tickets will give you the needed entry to the display area. I believe the Jaguar.com reserved area will be marked.

Did it, I knocked on the door. The guy barely spoke English. After a bit of deliberating I managed to get the message across and offered him a grand. He though about it and said no. Its difficult to have a negotiable conversation with him unfortunately, but may go back in a few days and try a bit more.

Appreciate you are keen to acquire this car. However with the description you give of how it has be stood for some years I would give serious though to buying this particular car at all, let alone at what price. Being as the cars are prone to rust as well as it will need new tyres and lord knows how much spent on welding and paintwork. That is only the start, there is also what condition the interior is in, where have the weeds penetrated and what damage have they done. At this stage you have no idea of mechanical condition either. Unless you are able and willing to potentially spend a fortune I would be more inclined to look for a car in a very much more presentable condition to start with.
Good Luck and Best Wishes , John.

Hi Everyone, My name's Wilma, I live in Lowestoft on the East Coast and I've been the proud owner of a gorgeous S-Type for the past 4 years. This weekend I achieved a long held ambition and acquired a new pride & joy, an XK8 which I believe is the most beautiful vehicle ever created. I'm having a bit of a problem getting her stereo unlocked 😞 but apart from that she's just perfect.
Looking forward to seeing everyone's pictures.

Welcome to the Forum/Club. I enjoy my S-Type and would not change it for any other Jaguar . I will admit that I do like the looks of the XK8 very much.

Welcome to the Forum/Club and life with a Jaguar. They have very bad habits at times with electrical discharge. My S-Type if not cherished well can be a real challenge.
You need to get yourself a CTEK MXS 7 or MXS 10. They really are good equipment and the answer to Battery discharge. I keep my car on my CTEK at least once per week and for 24 hrs as best I can. I do not get discharge problems these days. "Fingers Crossed"

Would I be correct in assuming from your "r32gtst", that you have a Nissan Skyline connection. In my younger days I owned quite a few Nissans. Skyline R33 and R34, SX 200 S12, S13 and S14, Nissan Primera eGT 2.0 Ltr SR20.
At 72 years young I still love cars of that era, but find myself wanting more comfort as well as reasonable power. Hence my S-Type 2.5 V6.

Just bought a 54 plate with 106 thousand on the clock with full jag service history, anything I should be looking for re problems
I have a 2005 Facelift S-Type and find that even on a 12 month old battery, it is beneficial to use my CTEK 7, for a weekly charge. It keeps the battery drain problems at bay.

Thanks for the responses. Unfortunately it's not quite as easy as ringing round looking for quotes as I can't use my phone during work hours and I rarely have time during my lunch break to do anything other than grab a bite to eat. A forum post masquerading as a frantically typed email is much easier to conceal.
As I said, I believe both vehicles I am looking at have been recently serviced. The owner of the Portfolio told me he had asked for the cambelt to be changed at the same time as the ancillary belts at the last service but the garage refused telling him to do it later. Conversely, the owner of the Premium Luxury has been told it HAS been done but has nothing to prove it, although she has said she would get it replaced if she was guaranteed a sale. Although it's cheaper, it's an older car, less spec with more mileage and an unresolved passenger window issue.
To compound matters both are private sellers meaning I'd have to sell my car first to release the funds to purchase. This leaves me with a catch 22 in that I'd have to travel to view the cars then rely on their goodwill to wait while I sold mine or sell mine through WBAC or similar then have the problem of how I would travel to view them, potentially finding other undisclosed problems and having to pull out of the sale leaving me with no vehicle at all. If I went with the first option I could pay a deposit but, if things went south, I wouldn't relish my prospects of trying to get the money back.
I've discounted the three vehicles without SH as they really were too much of a gamble. However the dealer came back to me a few days after posting this and said that the V6 S Portfolio did actually have 10 stamps in the service book which I am slightly confused about, as surely the book would have been the first port of call when I initially asked about it.
Nick
It would seem to me that you are "snookered" unless you buy from a dealer., who will take your current vehicle in P/X. Proof still remains the important matter unless you choose to have the work and any associated parts etc done after purchase,
Good luck with your decisions.

CONTINUATION OF P0420 CODE PROBLEMS.

Further question in the pursuit of exploring my above problem.
Have to day managed to get live % readings from Upstream and Downstream Lambdas (both of which were NEW Denso stock as per original, less than 12 months and 4000 miles ago). This is all Bank 1 related, not that it matters. Downstream is very near on static reading .... between 0.07 - 0.09 %. Upstream fluctuated much more ....... 0.06 - 0.124 %.
Question : Should there be this difference in readings or should they both be very similar and reasonably static ?
Any further advice or suggestions would gratefully received .
Many Thanks and Regards, John
