  2. hope you can hold on to it and fix it up graham. they are nice cars, and I know what like it is to be nearly skint mate, I might kid the old tight gits on this site from time to time about that, but I don't forget wer I came from, my father wast a smoker or gambler nor a drinker just a postman, my mother was a cleaner had 2 kids me and my sister she was clever whent to uni works for the gov for 30 years due to retire as an accountant will get a good pension. me on the other hand had served my time in the building trade once my time was out I whent into partnership with a guy I used to work with buy this time I am married to wife no1(a nurse from a well off family 2 kids later and after suffering years of hardship she kicked me out. took the house the kids the lot, it took me 10 years to get myself toghether and start again. met a beautiful lady whom became wife no2 (wish I had met her in the first place I would have more than sugar lol) set up my own again with a good like mineded guy like me and we ended up in partnership jointly owning a small building co after 20 years a good small business employing 35 workers , he took ill and my wife done the same not long after, we sold the business and have now retired, hence affording to buy good jaguar cars. life can be good but also hard

  12. hi Andrew, the sat nav in my old xk was useless the bmw x5 second gen car I had before the xk was the worst, mind blowing. along with the car total crap. lost 8and a half grand in 9 mths ownership in getting rid off it, now on a nice new xj , sat nav is great so simple. I bought a new garmin for the xk after going down to blackpool in it and that was a 57 plate. sat nav was dated so bought the garman which is now in my cupboard , out off 22 kitchen cupboards I have been allocated the smallest one for my bits &bobs buy swmbo

  17. I replaced the sidelights on the xk I had just bought ultra bright led ones off ebay cant remember how much they cost , but looked great thou. but a bugger to get into , had to take the full headlight units out and but them back without scratching the car. very little room ect but word off warning. the blue tinge ones are a MOT fail.
  18. hi chris personally I like autoglym ultimate wax & life time shine. to me looks better than the gardex treatment. done my oldest sons audi a7 black one looked stunning after a week of washing and polishing it, gave him the old xk 57 plate to run about in he loved it. the f-type is in my sights maybe next year or year after, like yours black looks fantastic. I had test drive in the 3l s. loved it but the wife whom is on medication has ballooned to double her size and could get in, but nearly had to call the fire brigade to get her out lol so that was a no no but with the new pension laws ect I am only 58 wife is 54 could be a f-type in the driveway in the next year or 2 Charlie. ITS GOOD TO BE BACK
  19. hi jim welcome. aye an xfr nice one, ive just got my second jag an xj love it. had the xk 4.2l before for 3years and loved the v8. looked at the xfr but were retired watching the pennies ect so I whent for the xj and am pleased. enjoy yours atb charlie

  23. hi paul in our wee small town we ave a Halfords. and we have a local car diy store called overdrive. Halfords is a big name store like argos ect. it tends to be full of wemen who don't know that they have to do checks on their car and don't seek help and no wer to turn till it breaks down hence the name halfrauds
  24. hi david and welcome to the club. having been a member of the forums for a few years now. I can tell you theirs not much to look out for having just bought a xj myself ,trading in the xk model. my advice to you is try and buy an approved used they now offer 2 years warranty. peace of mind, thinks to look out for are the usual check service history and if it has main dealer stamps phone them ask what work has been done on the car ect take a photo off the vin no. and give that to them they will tell you millage and any problems that have been fixed ect , the early xj sufferd from sun roof problems ie corroision on the runners but recalls should have sorted that out. also when selection gear mode in drive watch out for a lurch when engaged. could signal gearbox prob. apart from that theirs not much to watch out for start the car up and after 5mins check the smoke from the tail pipes nothing dark should be present. and if you buy then change the battery . jaguars are like most European cars and can get small elec glitches. a new battery soon sorts them out. other wise its the finest car on the market better than audi (my oldest son has an A7 s-line quarto it has 4 wheel drive) holds the road like !Removed! on a wall. ut the xj is better looking ,faster, better inside ect 7 ser bmw again nice car but not as good as the jag, merc s-class a better car than the bmw but the audi beats it, and te xj beats them all. enjoy, JAGUARS MOTO. ITS GOOD TO BE BACK. charlie
  25. hi chris. can you buy it and apply it yourself, what are costs ect, I had the gardex treatment done on my xj.
