  1. Visitors have now gone back to London. Also the Drawing room [so called because that's where the grandchildren used to so their drawing when they were younger] is under decoration. Carpet getting removed, etc etc. Peter.
  2. Just noticed your post, Brian. Your switches could be a bit dirty or loose. I also go for the cheapest option first, and would try the WD40. Failing tha I would start looking at all the connections. Regards, Peter.
  3. I don't buy bits from main dealers, Trevor. You can get genuine Jaguar parts from various sources and much cheaper than going to a main dealer. There is an advantage living in Birmingham, where there are quite a few accessory shops who will get the genuine parts at a third of the price Jaguar charge. Peter.
  4. Hi Tony, I think that you have been treated very badly to put it mildly. I have only bought three cars in the last few years due to having had company cars for 30 years. Two I bought from the same dealership which handles multiple makes of car, and neither were new. The treatment I got was quite superb and both cars, one a Rover Sterling, and the other an X Type Jaguar were both presented very well and the salesman was brilliant, even presenting my wife with a Jaguar Umbrella. The last car I bought I tried to use the same dealer, as I wanted an s type, but they had none -- they are a franchised dealer rather than a main dealer -- and I went to Stratstone -- who are the biggest Jaguar dealer in the UK. While they were not as good as Colliers [my wife never got an umbrella] they did present the car well, and before the warranty ran out they did a full check on all of my niggles and rectified all of the issues. That is a big plus, but these dealers are in Motown, as it were, and there are many people in the city who know a lot about cars and quite a few have connections in the motor trade. It does appear that the dealers who cause most of the problems are not in an area such as Birmingham and I do know that people come a long way to get their cars through Colliers, the first one mentioned. I hope that you will get some satisfaction from Jaguar. What you must do, though, is to warn off potential buyers from this company. Regards, Peter.
  5. I have never had it, but my daughter in law has it. My son thinks it is restrictive, too. Peter.
  6. Hi Andy, I have just had a look at a site in the USA called GTcarlot.com You can find any colour for any car, and I have looked up a 2002 4 litre in Aspen Green Metallic. From the picture it seems to look grey, but in the sunlight there seems to be a green metallic element. My S Type is Indigo Blue, which looks just like any dark blue car, but in the sun a more brilliant blue shines through. Regards, Peter.
  7. Hi Andy. Chipex is the name the site which I mentioned. Worth having a look at. Regards, Peter.
  8. Hi Tony, and welcome to the club. I do not have dynamic mode on my S Type 2.7D, but just an "S" button which gives a lot of power, but is easily controllable. I think that your car is acting quite properly but I would hesitate in using it too much during the winter. Regards, Peter.
  9. Hi Andrew, There is a site that I will look up. All you need to do is put in your VIN number and it will tell you what the colour is. That is probably the only site that you can get Jaguar Paint from. Of course, you could go to a Jaguar main Dealer ------------ Regards, Peter
  10. Hi Adrian, There is one in Manchester worth checking out, It has has a couple of good reviews, Homer and Hudson Ltd, and another one in Stoke 0n - Trent -- AWJ Automotive. E type specialists are hard to come by -- as are E Types! Good luck. Peter.
  11. Welcome to the Club, Dave. The club is a friendly one and I hope you enjoy being a member, and exchange experiences. My sons went to school in Chesterfield -- St Mary's --- we lived in Dronfield Woodhouse for 12 years. Regards, Peter.
  12. Simple, Trevor, I didn't know I was in a 40 area -- temporary signs. That is why the speed camera checked my speed! Peter.
  13. I had my speedometer checked b the Warwickshire Police on the 7th July. They told me that I was doing exactly 50 mph, which is exactly what my speedometer read. The road was a 40 mph speed area. Peter.
  14. Hi Adrian, Some good suggestions worth trying already. There s a topic on Independent garages in the Jaguar owners lounge and you may find one fairly close to Warrington. I did not that there is a garage recommended in Manchester in that list of independent garages. I will have a look around and see if I can find what you are looking for. Regards, Peter. [born and bred in Widnes, but now in exile in the Midlands]
  15. Hi Stuart, Jaguar recommend that until a baby is weighing in at 20lbs, a rear facing seat with a harness should be used. There is also some mention of fitting detail in the S Type manual, which may not apply to the XK. Car seats have come a long way since I had them in my Austin A40 Farina Style! Regards, Peter.
  16. Hi Teresa, Kenny has most likely hit the nail on the head. Electrical issues are high on the list of a modern car failing to start. A code reader comes in quite cheaply from amazon. Good luck, and I hope you get that lovely car back on the road where it belongs, Regards, Peter,
  17. Welcome to the Club, Teresa. There is a member with his own Jaguar business in Greater London who might spot this. There are several other s type R owners who also might be able to shed light on the problem. Good Luck, Peter.
  18. I sawit too, Neville. I also know that the Police in Birmingham found over 2000 blank BMW keys fobs in a house in the city. I am rather glad that my s type has a normal key and fob entry. Peter.
  19. Welcome to the Club, David. The club is a very friendly club with a mix of Jaguar owners across the ages who have one thing in common -- their enjoyment and love of these iconic cars. I hope that you enjoy the Club as much as you have enjoyed your Jaguars. Regards, Peter.
  20. Hi Colin, I does look as if you have a poor battery. A member bought a car with a new battery fitted by the garage that sold it him, but he had several "failures" such as radio not working etc. He sent me a photo of the battery and it was only a 54 amp whereas you need something quite a bit bigger -- 74 amp or so. If you have a friendly accessory shop [that sells batteries] you can ask the shop assistant if he would check it for you. Halfords can be helpful, at times When I had a caravan, the battery I used was an 110 amp. Regards, Peter.
  21. I had a look at the highlighted forum, and the first topic I read was about the amount of snobbishness [if that is the right word] on the Forum, and which also mentioned a touch of nastiness occasionally. While I don't disagree that some of the information was not bad [not brilliant, though], I think that being more friendly is not too hard. Just my opinion. Peter.
  22. Trevor, if you never try you lose an experience. I once sent a packet of 3 cream biscuits back to Edinburgh because there was no cream in them, asking them to put in the cream and return them. They sent me a 6lb box of biscuits. I sent a tin of sardines back to a company in Norway because there was no key on the tin. They sent me 8 tins in return. At the worse Jaguar will tell you of go away. At the best they will send you an XE. Peter.
  23. Hi Karl, I do not know the layout for power points in the XF, but the S Type has a power point in the centre console armrest, as well as at the front just above the gear change. An XF owner might be able to assist. Peter.
  24. Next, Scott, are some pictures. The Jaguar experience is worth waiting for. Peter.
