  1. Good Luck, Stefan. That is a very interesting project. Peter.
  2. Welcome to the Club, Mick. There should be no problem if you are used to getting oily hand. Just use the best quality oil as recommended and a good filter. Then just enjoy the Jaguar experience. Regards Peter.
  3. Can't do, Kenny. Tickets bought, wife made plans etc etc, But I am thinking about a good venue for a Christmas meet! Peter.
  4. That's it ,Nev. Just the same as changing any other CD. It will read the disc for a minute or two and then you have the maps uprated. Regards, Peter.
  5. Hi Craig, I don't know anyone with the 2.1 V6 x type. But I do know that I had heard nothing adverse about that engine. It is not as quick, and it is not an all wheel drive, but a little more economical. If you get it with the SE standard spec plus a few optional extras [satnav etc] you will still have Jaguar luxury and a good drive. And there is nothing wrong with the few Mondeo bits that are used -- it is done all the time by car manufacturers. Regards, Peter.
  6. Welcome to the Club, David. I would have said that there are a lot of helpful members here, but you have already found that out! Regards, Peter.
  7. I would love to go but unfortunately we have visitors that day. Peter.
  8. Hi Nev, I bought a 2012/3 update from a company called Sat Nav updates and it works fine. Cost was £30. The only downside was with my old disc which I loaned to a member who needed to check out his satnav as the car had no disc with it. That was a year ago. The member has stopped posting. The irony is that if he had asked to keep it I would have said "Yes". Peter.
  9. You will have to look around and buy one, Trevor. There are still a few for sale! Peter.
  10. Welcome to the club, Richard. You will enjoy your S Type, and you have had some helpful idea. --- Sharing experiences is what the Club is about. Regards, Peter. [Martin -- I have had 11 Escorts- the last being an immaculate EFI convertible in Red, and they first ones being Mk1 and Mk2 models - all brand new. They would really go but stopping was something else.]
  11. We have an electric pumpkin which light up. It means I don't have to have that horrible pumpkin soup. I was in London yesterday, Trevor, and my daughter tells me that the PRS offices in Berners St are being bulldozed and that they are moving to Streatham . Peter.
  12. Welcome to the Club, Neville. I don't have Jaguar Voice on my S type, thank God, although it is an optional extra. I think Trevor is probably correct in what he has found. Regards, Peter.
  13. It does sound interesting, Trevor, but I am probably not going to go as the times are not that good -- 7.30 pm -- and it is in a busy part of Birmingham with horrendous road works at the moment. But you wife is quite right about the S Type --- and the S Type 4.2 Litre [supercharged] was the fastest road car that Jaguar had even made when it was introduced. Even my 2.7 diesel has fantastic acceleration between 30 mph and 70 mph and a tope speed of 143 mph. Regards, Peter.
  14. I have an invitation togo to Castle Bromwich to see it before it goes into the Showrooms and talk to the design people. Peter.
  15. Welcome to the Club, Mark. I hope someone can assist, but Kenny is far more knowledgeable than me and I am as mystified as he is. I am of the generation that checks the the 3 "Ps" -- Plugs, points and Petrol. Good Luck, Peter.
  16. Welcome to the club, BB. The X type is a very nice car to drive and a nice smooth engine in the 2.0 litre Diesel. Regards, Peter.
  17. You will get it before 2017, Trevor. Reports say that it will very quick and economical for its power. Peter.
  18. Hi Craig, You will get slightly better consumption from the manual gearbox. Driving carefully on the M1 I got over 35 mpg on a long run, and around town was getting around 26. 33mpg was a normal figure on a long run driving within the speed limit. A full tank of petrol will give you about 350 miles. Peter.
  19. Hi Ed, The member is mcd840 and is named Craig. You will see the post in New members introductions "Hi All, which one to buy." He is in East Stirlingshire. Regards, Peter.
  20. Hi Craig, Another new member has just posted that he is wanting to sell his x type 2.5 litre petrol. He is in Greater London, though. Regards, Peter.
  21. Welcome to the Club, Ed. There is a member looking for a good petrol x type. He could well spot this post and contact you, although he could be a long way awayl Regards, Peter.
  22. Welcome to the Club, Craig. I used to have an X Type 2.5 litre petrol SE with a manual gear box on an 05 plate. It was All Wheel Drive and a very nice car, and a bit more economical than the 2.5 litre Rover that I had previously. I had no issues at all with the Jaguar and it was a very reliable and quick car to drive. I would still be driving mine if a paid of scroats had not carjacked it. You will find the right one and you will enjoy the Jaguar experience. Regards Peter.
  23. Welcome to the Club, Joseph, Luke has given you some good ideas and is it always the best route to try the easiest and cheapest options first. Getting all the jobs done will take some time, but driving an S Type is worth it. Regards, Peter.
  24. Or buy one of those little quick start batteries that you plug into the power source. Peter.
  25. Hi Deane, When did you have the last oil change? Was the engine overheating? Worth checking both before looking for anything else. Peter.
