Rear parking sensors on 2004 2.0D
Paul, it is quite easy to find a faulty sensor, it will take two off you one to sit in the car and place the car in reverse obviously remembering to keep her/his hoot on the brake pedal or safer still handbrake on. Kneel to each sensor one at a time and you should hear clicking if you note one is not giving out a clicking noise then this should be the offending sensor which will be more than likely faulty. By the way if one sensor is faulty then the reverse parking aid should not work due to the fact they work on a daisy chain resistance basis so if one fails it will not allow the others to work. You should also ensure the electronic box is water tight, good idea to wrap in a plastic bag and seal with a small cable tie

New supercharger pulleys
I agree and there are so many models coming out in won't be that long. My brother recently bought the new F Type S £60,000 hell of a car though

New supercharger pulleys
I've only had the car a few weeks Luke and in that time we have had a mixture of good and bad weather so haven't had the greatest of opportunities to get the best out of it with work and one thing or another. Its very comfortable and plenty of power albeit I'm upgrading from a AMG which also equally as powerful after I finished playing with it. I'll let you know if I source any information. Edited: Luke; just found this whilst browsing and the power gains appear quite good http://www.powerhouseautomotive.co.uk/content/jaguar-performance-upgrades.html

RH Brake light failure
You can guarantee 90% of automotive electrical problems are associated with 'EARTHING' although with light failure sensors there is usually an electronic box involved which works with a resistance value. I have had this problem in the past and swapped the sensor with the other side as a test procedure. But then I'm only an Electrical Engineer auto electrical is something different with the Management Software getting involved.

New supercharger pulleys
Hi Luke, I have not looked into the supercharger pulleys yet, not had my XKR to look into really however, I did upgrade the pulleys on my SLK32 AMG and the gain was incredibly good although I also done a few other tweaks that may have pushed it up a little. The 32 was 347bhp standard but measured on a rolling road after my tweaks I was pushing 400. I did not feel it necessary to upgrade the cooling system. I would be interested if you find out a little more and now that you have mentioned it you have given me food for thought so I will be looking myself out of curiosity. If I find any info then I will pass it on.

ABS Failure
Good news Graham, good luck

ABS Failure
Don't know exactly how it works out there in Portugal Graham with regard to Trading Standard Laws etc however, if such an occurrence had happened in the UK and the Brake system had been fine prior to taking to your local garage then they would be held responsible for costs if it were proven that they had caused the problem. UK law works to the terminology of reasoning for example; Would the reasonable man expect an auto mechanic to have performed his/her work to ann expected standard that would not have caused harm, injury etc to the driver, passenger and to that of damage to the vehicle or of any of it components. That said we are not in the UK and albeit having studied law I do not have any understanding of the Portuguese Law although I would be going back to your local garage to explain the situation in full and inform them that if Jaguar find that they have botched up something then you will be expecting them to cover the cost and if they don't agree then you will be seeking legal advise.

f-type road tax
Totally agree with you on that point Trevor, I've been saying that for years that way all the scumbags currently driving around with no tax would not be able to, and we would not have had to install cameras at an expensive cost to us all over the UK to catch them.

BBS Wheels (Tyre Valves)
I have 20" BBS wheels on the XKR and like to perform a regular tyre pressure check however with the pathetic time consuming find the valve and screw in the adapter system adopted it annoying especially, when you are at a garage and performing the action around the car when other motorists are queuing behind you obviously getting irate (I would). Is there an alternative or option to purchase valves on the wheels for these wheels on the market?

f-type road tax
Taken from the Parkers guide Charles and what gives a clearer explanation; The first-year ‘showroom tax’ is a way of attempting to deter people from buying the most polluting cars. For instance, if you were looking to buy a new car and the emissions were more than 255g/km then you would have to pay £1,030 for the first year. This then drops to the standard cost of £475 per year. The cars most affected by the first year tax are those in tax band H and above. If you buy a car in any of these bands you will have to pay more than the standard yearly rate of tax. My brother recently (git) bought the F-Type - S and the dealer gave him the first years road tax free. I also purchased a Citroen DS3 at the beginning of the year for my wife and again the dealer threw in the first years road tax free of charge in the deal. Again my Mother has bought a Voltswagon new last week with free tax. It appears that there is a trend by manufacturers to sell cars they are giving the first years road tax free.

f-type road tax
Charles, the first year rate is £1,095 however it falls into category M in the CO/2 calculator which means itt will be £500 per year thereafter. http://www.nextgreencar.com/car-tax/make-model/JAGUAR/F-Type+Coupe/

All sounds a bit iffy there Scott, sound to me as if he is desperate to get rid of the car although I looked online and its quite easy to get hold of a ABS sensor
