  1. I was based at Kinloss many years ago (When we still had Nimrods). Wonderful part of the world.

Maybe a club member close to you has SDD? Personaqlly I don't think there's too much of a problem with your car but dealers will charge £100 just for a quick diagnostic check.

However, in quiet desperation, disconnect the battery (make sure you have the radio code), touch the two battery wires together and leave for 10 minutes before re-connecting.

  2. Like a lot of people, my XF has been suffering from a fault in the boot wiring. In my case the boot opening switch was inoperative, although others have reported rear camera or numberplate lighting faults.

I disconnected the loom at the boot lid and stripped it out so I could examine the obvious pinch point in the flexible conduit.

Who uses stiffish 22AWG wire in a loom subject to frequent acute flexing?

I found two wires completely cut and had to cut and crimp five further wires that were holding on by one strand.

That will do pro tem but I think I'm going to make up a new loom with more appropriate wire as a permanent solution.

I could replace the loom with a new Jaguar loom but that seems to me to be asking for the same trouble again.

Nil points to whoever specified that wiring 😞

  3. To start off with, I'd suspect that a total loss of sound has to be a D2B problem. Re-check the D2B on the CDC first perhaps? Otherwise, there should be a D2B loopback connector in the wiring loom somewhere close by. Disconnect the CDC D2B and plug the loopback into the loom and see if you get any sounds from elsewhere ie. radio, single CD etc.

  4. So, thanks to Alex Ward and a bit of research on the interweb, I now have Jaguar Voice enabled. The process is ridiculously easy as well, notwithstanding the fact that a mistake could brick the car.

Have to say that the Voice isn't as useful as that on my S-Type (No climate control functions)

Next retrofit is the six CD player. Already tried a straight swap and no go

Having had a good poke around in the CCF though I spied a function where the type of CD player could be defined. That, I think will be the next retrofit.

CCF editing is so much simpler than using the legacy SDD

  5. Voice now works 🙂

Thank to Alex Ward and a little research in the interweb.

The procedure is ridiculously easy as well, notwithstanding the fact that a mistake could brick the car.

While I was looking at the CCF I noticed an entry to change the value of the CD player to one disk, Six disk. That will be my next retrofit.

  6. When I set temperature to "Lo", I get nice cold air from the passenger's vent but barely cool from the Driver's side.

Air con was serviced rencetly and is perfect.

I worked out that the driver's side temperature blend flap might be stuck in one position but observing the servo motor when changing temperature settings over the full range shows it to be moving end to end as it should do.

Anything else I should be considering please?
