  1. That will do the job admirably Christopher. You might consider changing the seal as well. They can sometimes be adversely affected by certain screen wash solutions.
  2. I have a fair few Jaguar related documents as well as those mentioned above if you need anything else Joan. Welcome to the club as well :)
  3. Just caught up with this Dennis. Thanks for the update. Food for thought.
  4. Is anybody who will be attending the meet on 19th September and who is competent in the use of the SDD diagnostics prepared to give a tutorial please? I am happy to provide my Lappy (with SDD) and Mongoose if anybody would like to take this task on. Maybe other attendees might like to observe as well?
  5. I'll get one for completeness at the very least Peter. Thanks all for the info :)
  6. I know Ron, The guy phoned me and told me he'd misunderstood what I was after. I was wondering whether the insulation assists the diesel engine in warming up faster?
  7. It does have an adhesive base Peter but the main security is through two holes in the bonnet. To be frank, given the weight, I'd not trust purely adhesive fixing :) I'll take a picture when I get a moment :D
  8. Well, it's fitted. Looks great in my opinion :)
  9. I think I've located one but the breaker says it actually goes down bwhind the engine as well. Please can anybody confirm this?
  10. Hi Ron, My dealer wants £120. Please can you tell me where I can get one for a few pounds?
  11. Thanks both. I'll keep eyes open for one.
  12. They appear to be available from dealerships... for over £100. I think a few inquiries at breakers' might be in order.
  13. Thank you Andy :) Am I correct in thinking that those trim clips are to hold it in place? Does its presence have much of an effect please?
  14. I am gradually removing Windows 10 from each of the four PCs I allowed it to install onto. As Philip said, they seem to take a perverse delight in taking things that had been readily accessible in W7 and hiding them under layers of almost impenetrable gloom on W10. The final nail in the coffin though, for me, was one of my students explaining that I'll never get the best out of W10 because, apparently, I'm not "leet". I understand this to be a corruption of "elite" and perish the thought that I should EVER be considered so. As an observation, it must be great to have all the knowledge, pig-headed self-confidence and bravado of a 19 year old youth
  15. I was taking a close look under the bonnet today and I noticed a series of trim retainers around the periphery of the bonnet underside.. They appear to serve no useful purpose on my car and I'm now wondering whether there should perhaps be a heat / sound insulation mat fixed to the underside of the bonnet. Has anybody actually got one please?
  16. OK Peter, please can you PM your thoughts?
  17. I perhaps should have done Peter. It would be excellent if you could. I need to have the washers extended so that I can take a paper template of the size and position of the holes in the bumper. Unfortunately, I am still limited to being close to the house during out of office hours
  18. Please, can anybody with a late model (post facelift) S Type with headlight washers, please make me a template so that I can cut out the openings on my bumper? Thank you.
  19. Hmm... how NOT to win customers. I phoned JoJags today and asked if they had certain items. A list of about four things. The reply i got was:- "What d'you want that lot for?" Difficult to convey in written word the tone of the question but certainly not friendly, in fact somewhat accusatory. Not being used to such an interrogatory tone when trying to spend money with a retailer, I replied "I really don't think that is any concern of yours" At which point I was treated to a stream of muttered invective before the "salesman" at the other end slammed the phone down. It seems that in certain quarters, the customer is always wrong. Curiosity piqued by the unusual approach to sales technique I did a cursory search on the 'net and to be frank, I'm pleased I didn't enter into any trade with JoJags and furthermore, consider that I got away lightly with a mere diatribe. I hasten to add, at this point, that I do happen to have the conversation, if it can be described thus, recorded ;) Based upon my own, albeit limited, experience and also what I've now read on the 'net, JoJags are a thoroughly unpleasant entity to deal with. These are purely my own views and experience of course but if anybody is thinking of trading with them, I'd advise caution and perhaps a little research first.
  20. Well, I've got all the will-power of a soggy Kleenex I was over at my friends' place this morning and their S Type has the leaper on the bonnet. First thing I did when I got home was to order one. No will-power at all.
  21. Bumper off job as far as I can recall Christopher. Changing it over is simple though. Suggest a replacement from the likes of Fleabay though rather than OEM. The old pump is simple to test once you get to it. Just pull the wiring connector off and apply 12 volts direct from the battery. No noise = replace pump. If the pump runs then you have a wiring fault.
  22. They are certainly simple enough to fit Christopher, assuming you can measure accurately. Even I could probably do it
  23. Just had a very pleasant and productive meeting with Peter :) It looks as though this is going to be a really worthwhile event. I'll put up a post about two weeks prior to the event with final information and in the meantime Peter will have one or two points of guidance to make. Looking forward to putting faces to names :)
  24. The venue will be able to accommodate us from 10:00. That is to say, they will have the car parking and signage in place for 10:00 :)
  25. Just my experience, but I had little trouble changing my wiper blades without having to remove the arms. They are held by a hook on the wiper arm and I found that lifting the bonnet and just slightly raising the wipers off the windscreen I was able to detach the wiper blades from the arms and fit new items just as easily
