  1. Hi Fiona, I can help with your queries, but glad you have the beast back on the road, sounds super, enjoy!🙂 Julie.
  2. Hi Rod, Sorry to hear that, It's a shame. It's hard to find something decent. I saw some very poorly maintained car. One dealer, I photos and descriptions looked good. After 1.5 hours drive disappointed to find very poor paint work one side, rust, hole in bumper and huge chunks out of back alloy. it was filthy in side. Started it up sounded like bag of hammers. Asked if I wanted to drive it but I declined.🙄 One I am picking up has been looked after, can't wait😃 Julie
  3. Hi Wizzard, I `ve just got X type too. Used to have S type, saw the X and had to have it😍
  4. Hi, I was the same,Jag less, nothing compares to ta Jag. Yes everything that seemed decent was miles away. Oh I saw a few real badly cared for cars before I found one. One dealer, it looked great in pictures, but in real life it had badly scuffed paint one side, big chunks out of alloys, a large hole in bumper and filthy inside! You will soon get the paint right, I use Maguires, what do you use? Looking forward to pictures.
  5. Hi Poppa, I was a member up until few years ago. Made huge mistake sold my S type, missed it so much. Got X type now - oh yes they are an obsession! My neighbors used to say I would wear it away polishing it. XJ gorgeous. Sure you will enjoy driving it. To me nothing compares to Jaguars - Pure elegance.
  6. Hi, I have had S type in past but now have an X Type. Well picking it up next week. Does any one know please, if this a common fault, and cost approx to put right? I have been told its been on machine and no problem found. Car starts and runs fine. Thank you

  8. Hi can any one tell me please on a S type 3 litre 2001 auto petrol is it a Timing chain or Belt please?
  9. Hi, Just been to see a chap I worked with he owns a garage, been on holiday so just caught up with him. He said buy the frame and he can do it for £100 if all the bits are supplied. £250 if he needs to take everything off and re fit them. Bit better than £2000 I was quoted by MOT garage!
  10. Thank you Joe very helpful info. Hope to get work done soon.
  11. Hi Jo, Thanks for that. Had one quote back from 1 st choice parts for £288. Awaiting a few more. Is it an easy job a keen DIY but quite good mechanic? Kind Regards, Julie.
  12. Hi Jim, Great thank you will have a look at the link now, just sent off email to David Manners. Hope I can get old Aubrey fixed soon. Thanks, Julie.
  13. Hi Peter, Thank you. I will check out David Manners now. I remember my Father saying back in the 70`s Minis did have a problem with sub frames, it was something they suffered from. Kind Regards, Julie.
  14. Hi, Just had bad news car badly failed MOT cost 2k to put right. failure says - Sub frame heavily corroded seriously weakened off side rear. Car heavily under sealed. Can any one tell me is this a fair price? I may be able to get some one, who is a mechanic, to weld it but need to speak to him. Do you think that it can be welded and repaired or do sub frames need replacing? Any advise would be appreciated. Thank you. Julie.
  15. No Offence taken Claws I agree. I do not understand why people see good manners as a weakness, I see it as a strength. May be its because society in general is more selfish and self centered.
  16. Hi John, Its such a shame many people are so impatient and intolerant. My friend has a speech impediment and many people just do not have the manners to listen. Many years ago, one of my teachers had a Daimler V8. It was beautiful. I used to always wait by the gate to see it drive in I thought it such a marvelous looking car. That was what got me interested in cars.Other girls at school found it odd. Hope you find a nice one soon. Julie.
  17. Hi Jamie, That is a fine looking car. I have an s type 1999. had it since May 2015. Love it would not drive anything but a Jag now. People are really knowledgeable and helpful on this site. I see you are in Wales like me but I am in the North. Is this your first Jag? Mine is, wanted one for a long time.
  18. A lot of people do not seem to have been taught at all. Simple manners cost nothing.
  19. True if your polite and decent most people respond in the same way.
  20. Yes I did! best decision I made would not buy any thing else now
  21. Do not blame you! I would not go out of my way to visit them. Better service cheaper prices elsewhere. Had a problem with them about 3 yrs ago. sitting in my friends BMW when she nipped in to the shop. One of the young "mechanics" came out to his friends hot hatch parked next to the beamer, swung the door open quickly bashing it in to the BM with some force. Did not realise I was sitting in the passenger seat. I was not happy neither was my friend.
  22. That is one of my pet hates, not saying please or thank you. Surely if you work in retail you understand that the customer pays your wages - pays to keep them happy. You are right they are expensive, I wanted a new battery cost over £100, bought one on line £58 delivered next day!
  23. Thank you for all your advice Julie.
  24. Cheers Andy will remember that thanks
