  1. Wow! That filter looks just the one I changed in my 2.7 my fuel figures went from 25 mpg to 32 mpg average now.
  2. Does this help: https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=6&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwiglJ_hwJbOAhXsB8AKHWdnBJQQFggrMAU&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.xfforum.co.uk%2Fthreads%2F27369-VIN-Location&usg=AFQjCNHOgKESGbOy8Bujf8dvc-9mX_5LTw&bvm=bv.128153897,d.d24 post #6
  3. From my Rover memory you have to momentarily connect pin 3 to ground or 12 volts depending on age of unit I think
  4. I recently changed my diesel S type fuel filter, the only problem I had was priming it afterwards.( The car was cranked about three times before it ran ok) I later found out take the exit pipe off, then put a length of pipe on the filter and bleed,by turning the ignition on,into a jar or old milk container, easier with help than on your own depending on the length of pipe used.
  5. Have you tried phoning part suppliers for example https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=6&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwin5uu_4P_NAhWsC8AKHaYsDlYQFgg7MAU&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.turnerengineering.co.uk%2Facatalog%2F2.7-TDV6.html&usg=AFQjCNERFqytfAg0OsLrB6R85l4a_0khRw and asking if it's possible? (Not Jaguar parts but they may know) Years ago I changed big end bearings on a Fiat 125 Twin cam, but had to remove a cross member to get the sump off.
  6. It's a 3M5A- 5L200 - AB which is a DPF sensor, also used by Ford, Volvo and Mazda. Took a picture but can't upload from my phone. Edit: Much easier on laptop
  7. I get that, especially over rippled parts on roads, it feels like the pedal is loose , as you say ....weird
  8. Mine are opposite of yours, they don't seem to come on early enough for me. When driving in heavy rain I prefer lights on so I switch to manual, usually switching back to auto keeps them on until the rain stops.
  9. Also check for exhaust fumes/smell getting into the cabin through the vents, it's either a fractured flexi usually on the left bank exhaust (expensive to fix) or the exhaust from the fuel burning heater (easyish fix) needs replacing.
  10. Apologies to OP for off topic, is the picture taken at the Prescott hill climb?
  11. Whilst waiting to turn into the road where I live, I spotted a 52 plate S type coming down the road, as he got close I waved and got a wave back .... first one, here's to many more. [emoji122] [emoji122] [emoji122] [emoji636]
  12. I also get around 30 to 33 with mine, best was 37 mpg on the motorway.[emoji33]
  13. Trolls exist on all forums unfortunately, over on one of the Rover forums I frequent there seems to be a clique of people who's only intention is to disrupt. Once they get banned they reappear under a new identity and start all over again.[emoji35]
  14. I had this problem a few weeks ago, the fault was under normal acceleration DSC fault came up with restricted performance, if I accelerated very gently there was no problem. The fault disappeared after a few days, maybe down to a number of ignition on/off cycles? I had it checked by my local garage and the only fault they found was a miscommunication between the traction control and the abs (not sure they were the two units involved), the fault was cleared and the car is fine now. It was also suggested at the time (on this forum ) that it could also be a wheel sensor causing the problem.
  15. My S type has Pirelli P Zero's all round which I find very good, in the past on my Rover I had Goodyear efficient grips which I liked very much and will buy when required for the S type. They're not the cheapest tyres to buy, but I firmly believe in buying a known good brand as I often have my grandchildren in the car.
  16. Check the tyres, if they are worn they can sometimes cause noise. I had this on a Rover 75 the tyres were close to the limit and were like a fifty p piece!
  17. Hi Tim, Welcome to a friendly club, nice looking car, but I'm biased because it looks like mine. I bought mine just before Christmas after years of Rover 75 ownership. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do.
  18. Strangly I had this message appear this morning, now cleared, so a very fortuitous post for me. My thanks for posting Peter. PS It only took me five attempts [emoji15]
  19. Further update, Only one fault stored, miscommunication between traction control unit and something I've forgotten. Only £30 including VAT so happy with that. So I still will replace the battery as I think it had something to do with it originally. Happy motoring all.
  20. Thinking about it, I use Jaguar more than Jag.
  21. Update: Got the car booked into my local garage, popped down last Monday to book it for this Monday (11th) to put it on the diagnostics. As of Wednesday fault has not returned and the car is now back to full power hopefully it was a dirty sensor. I am still going to get it checked on Monday though, I was going to change the oil soon so I might as well give them the oil, air, fuel and cabin filters and get them to do it whilst they check the suspension bushes on the ramp.
  22. Further information whilst driving to Mum's, if I apply throttle gently there's no error, heavy throttle instantly brings DSC error. So I stop, switch off, restart all ok again until hard (ish) acceleration. With no DSC error I can gently accelerate up to about 70 but car feels under powered, so I'm thinking maybe fuel or would it still be wheel sensors as it's a traction control issue?
  23. Thanks for that, it makes sense now as that is the only error I get, so I'll hold off on the battery for now.
  24. "DSC not available" I have had this message several times now, then it says " limited performance only". Stop the car, switch off then restart and it's ok for a while. I did notice last night that the car seemed to be running hot, as it was pinging and creaking (exhaust) as it cooled on the drive and did smell hot. I am changing the battery today as I believe it's the original with 07 stamped on the neg terminal. So my question is do I need a code for the sat nav screen or shall I put my power pack on the leads and keep the car powered up?
  25. There's a few on flea bay, just put jaguar triton wheel in the search. They aren't too bad but be wary of the repaired one. They will probably be OK for a spare.
