  2. Hi Ross Can we just go back and explore in more detail exactly what happens when you try and start the car? Are the key batteries OK? Does the car show any signs of "waking up" when unlocked? Have you tried starting with the key held over the sensor? Any lights on the dash? Have you tried jump starting from another car / starter pack? etc Regards John

  4. Blown V6 3.0d XF engine 2017. Driving on dual carriageway, speed 75/85 mph. Steering wheel started to vibrate then the dash. Engine didn’t sound normal , then totally lost all power. This was in the space of 20 seconds. No warning lights. Taken to reliable Jag specialist garage. Told the engine has seized. WTF Has been serviced as per service instructions. Anyone encountered this issue ? Anyone Spoken to dealership/Jaguar U.K about this dangerous fault if so what was the outcome ? I’ve had the car since 2018, 1 year old. Always serviced. Oil changed at 46,000, now on 50,000
  5. If you are sure it is rain water, then it should also come in when you hose / wash the car. Have you confirmed that it only comes in due to rain? Try turning the AC off for a week and see if there is any improvement. Normally, in hot weather with the AC running, you will find a small puddle under the car when parked. Have you seen the puddle recently, or is the driveway dry under the car at all times? Do you have a sunroof? There are also drains from the sunroof surround, but I have no idea where they travel through the car, but down an A-post would seem logical, ending up near the footwell. N6 JMX
  6. When I bought my XJR last December there was no handbook wallet with it and enquiries with JLR confirmed that it was only available as a complete wallet pack which has to be individually ordered from the original publisher via JLR given the VIN number for the car. I'm not even going to say how much it cost 😉and how long it took to actually materialise. In the meantime, the rep who sold me the car managed to locate the original car documentation wallet for me, rendering the new pack of no use to me. Would the brand new pack ( still in original box} be of use to anybody? The car is a 2018 X351 and is the same for all the models apparently.
  7. It turns out that the existing Switch already on the car did not require changing, it seems that just a good clean and re grease of the ball joint and cable were all that was required. However as these Switches are now about as common as rocking horse poo and even more expensive I will be carefully wrapping up the refurbished one and stashing it away somewhere safe - just in case !
  8. Help please, wheel nut sheered off above the slip washer any one had the same problem and how to resolve it, as i cant get the wheel off Thanks Bill

  10. Hi there, I have a manual S type. What oil should i put in the gearbox. At present the gear change isn't smooth. I havent checked the oil level but when i do i will probably change it if thats possible. Are there any additives that will help make the gear changes smoother and reduce noise?
  11. Hi margi3, a little strange to buy a car and then immediately think of flipping it for a "profit". In my experience, "flipping" for a profit with Jaguars is a fantasy world, not one occupied by mere mortals. If you are not "in" to the car and want your money back, try selling it on but be prepared for an inevitable loss. N6 JMX
  12. Hi Jim, Thanks for the quick response. The seal I am looking at has a hard surface on one side (see the brown material in image attached). It's not something I've seen before on a pinion seal so it piqued my curiosity. Thanks, Geoff
  13. I'm not familiar with Japanese imports Graham so i had wondered if they had use an Aisin-Warner transmission instead of the ZF usually fitted. Experience with an AW in a Volvo 760 taught me the overdrive switch could sometimes play up bringing up a warning light indicating overdrive was off. From what you say, i'm guessing you have the more usual ZF box, some of the later 5-speed auto ZF boxes had their ECU mounted inside the gearbox, the seal could fail and this rendered the gearbox dead. This was more common on late 90s V8 models (X300 usually) but as you have a Sport mode, there is some electronic control. On the 4-speed if memory serves, the ECU is remote from the gearbox but i'm not sure where. If you can locate the gearbox ECU, follow the wiring from it and there should be an earth point somewhere nearby, i'd remove the connector and clean the connector and earth point - everything you've said so far points to a bad connection of some sort, probably an earth.
  14. Hi Keith, Not very far as the crow flies, but a drive around to Swallows Jaguar at Rooksbridge, see link below, might be a worthwhile trip. These guys are very knowledgeable and good to deal with. https://swallows-jag.co.uk/ N6 JMX
  15. Told you in terms of codes. I'll have to look in the hood to see if it's turning. While in the car i can't tell. i know there's power because there is a noise but doesn't sound like an engine turning over. Will let you know.
  16. Hello all, My first post, so I hope not a ridiculous question: Is the camber adjustable on the XF? (X260 - mine is a Jan 2020 build). And if not, why not? Reason for query: just had 4 x Eagle F1 Asym 6 fitted, followed by wheel alignment reset by technician using Hunter system. Printed report before and after shows the left (nearside) camber front and rear were and are both outside the green tolerance limit (left front was -0.53 now -0.49, left rear was -1.30 now -1.25). This means the thrust angle is slightly off, only just within tolerance. The technician tells me camber is not adjustable. I pressed him on this as the caster reading is greyed out - which does seem to indicate non-adjustable. But the camber readings are yellow (left) and green (right). So is the technician correct? Or does it just mean it needs a specialist to perform any adjustment? Thanks for any advice. Paul. img035.pdf

  19. Hi Keith, welcome to the wonderful world of Jaguar motoring - you will enjoy it. From your spelling of "tires", I am guessing you are not in the UK, possibly North America. If so, there is a great community in Jaguar North America and you will find lots of great help and insight on here. One of the first things you'll need to keep a 2004 car running well is a suitable code reader, preferably one that can cater for Jaguar specific codes (DTC). Enjoy. N6 JMX
  20. Can anyone assist as to which companies offer competitive insurance for an i-pace please?
  21. Hello all, First-time poster, but I have found this forum to be very helpful. After passing my test, I decided to buy a Jaguar X-Type. I love my car. It's a 2006 RHD model, with a 2L manual diesel. It runs great, and I love how comfortable it is. Recently, when browsing this forum, I found a few posts talking about the accessory sockets behind the glovebox and in the boot of the X-types. Having a 12v socket in the glove box of my car appealed to me, so, after doing my research, I tried to embark on installing them. I should mention that I am an electrical engineering student, so I can generally handle electrical matters. After purchasing and installing the R2 Accessory relay in the passenger side fuse box, I was confused as to why there was no voltage between either the black and brown or the black and brown-green wires in the accessory connector. I thought I had maybe tested the wrong cables so I shorted what I thought was the load end of the relay to do a continuity test. It was at this point I realised I had not disconnected the battery, as there was a crack, and the cable I used to short the pins began to smoke! I immediately pulled the cable out and did a visual check of the fuse board and could find nothing wrong, so I turned the ignition, where I found a warning light on my dash, with a note in the message centre saying "CRUISE NOT AVAILABLE". Then I noticed that the fans were not coming on, so I navigated to the climate section of the infotainment screen to find a message there also, saying "communications failure, consult your main dealer". So now I can't use the A/C, heating, Demisters, air recirculation or heated seats. On top of all this, my cigarette lighter socket also no longer works! So I was wondering if anyone knew why it was just these systems that failed? It seems odd for them to fail, as they are seemingly unrelated to each other. No fuses have blown that I have found so far either, adding to the confusion. I'd be grateful if anyone could explain to me what went wrong, and how I could fix it, if it is possible for me to do so?. Thanks, and sorry for the long explaination.
  22. Hi Phil Assuming your purchase date was 1st June 2024 and not 1st June 2014 you need to go straight back to the dealer you bought it from. They are legally bound under the Sale of Goods Act 1979 to provide that "goods delivered or sold must be of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose". First recourse is to give them the opportunity to sort it out. Regards John
  23. Hi Guys The alarm on my 05 3ltr V6 has started to sound for some reason, it's the sounder that's in the engine bay on the driver's side. I've had to disconnect the battery to silence it so getting it somewhere is a problem, plus I have a misfire on cyl 5 and it's booked in for that to be be looked next week as well as its annual MOT. Any ideas as to the problem and possible solution please? Thanks
  24. Probably put it on Pistonheads or similar, with a very detailed advert providing all of the information and as many good quality photos as you can upload ? I would include pictures and details of invoices for work carried out, especially any modifications. Most Jaguar forums also have 'cars for sale' sections for members, not as much traffic as the 'usual' advertising websites but less likely to get messers and wannabe test pilots. You will also need to be realistic about your pricing, it is very rare to see much of a return on the money you have spent on modifying the car (as I know from my Subaru tuning days) The XFR is a specialised car that only appeals to a small target audience, modified ones have an even smaller pool of potential buyers. In the current climate, they are perceived to be expensive to tax and fuel, and modified cars can be difficult and expensive to insure.
  25. My F Pace has done 42,000 miles. Turbo gone. I recently changed rear tyres and wondered why one was more worn than the other. Jaguar had fitted different tyres on rear!

  27. My apologies for not answering your question. I decided to just leave it at the time and of course now that its getting warmer I am regretting that decision lol. I will update on this if I get it done this year. Using the car a lot less at the moment so I can do most journeys with an open window.
  28. Thank you Trevor for finding this out. I was thinking that it probably had more to do with my inept computer skills. I did find it and am just about to attach an update to it. Many thanks and my sincerest apologies for casting any doubt as to the running of this page
