  2. Hi Vic, The vehicle is a 2008 XF 2.7D. The codes are in the first message. The fob stopped working when the battery was disconnected for a week or so, the fob works perfectly when inserted so will try to wake them up through SDD. The RFA shows a big red cross on when checking the modules on SDD. Previously there was a fault code with the MAF's so when cleaning didn't work I replaced the two and a new air filter and no fault codes for the MAF for the past 150 miles. The limp mode is restricted performance / DSC not available..... and with the fault code generated by the ABS ( See first message ) is the reason I was moving towards the wheel sensors. Three times today with limp mode, so frustrating.
  3. Thanks for the reply. I am sure it is rain water it only leaks when it rains but don`t know why it comes through the air vents under the passenger seat. I have tried a hose pipe but it does not leak. I don`t know why. I must admit that I hardly use me jaguar not been in it this year. I run it every month to make sure all is okay. There is no sunroof it`s not that. Will keep looking and let you know if I solve the problem.
  4. Sorry to hear of your troubles. a terrible thing to happen, hope you can find some solution. I have no idea what is happening when you have a failure like you had, perhaps it would be stuck in the gear it was in at the moment of failure, I just don't know. If it was a catastrophic failure in the engine and/or gearbox I s'pose at that point it doesn't really matter, it's going to be a major repair either way. There is a fairly easy way to release the run of the mill stuck in Park problem, it will be in the Drivers Manual or you'll find many " how to " on line If it's just a simple problem ( ie flat battery, faulty brake light switch etc. ) Sadly it seems that you may have more of a problem than this, good luck with a fix. Service has always been carried out by dealership Barr the last one. 80k service, believe this includes the oil change carried out by the dealership at 37299 miles 7-2022. 96k service carried out 46k In December 2023. By independent garage, only repairs Jaguar cars, 30 years experience, trained by Jaguar at the start of his career. Car’s mileage is at 50k now. From my research this isn’t a rare issue. It’s how to prove there is it a problem with the engine, will cost 2-3k to strip the engine to find the cause. What was strange was the flashing of the D during the break down and unable to move the gear nob from park. Rear wheels locked. This was after releasing the brake under the bonnet. Garage told me the brake release was broken. Not sure if this in anyway is connected combined with the flashing D on the dash Any info would be appreciated. With thanks
  7. Sorry in advance if this has been covered before! This is my 15th Jaguar (2007 2.7 diesel) I keep leaving the lights on and would like to know if it should have a warning chime. I don't actually get any audible warnings at all ,only parking sensors. Please help as my neighbour is getting a little annoyed ------- -- at letting me know.
  8. My 2014 Jaguar XFR 5litre V8 510 HP Supercharged in Metallic British Racing Green is looking for a new owner! The car drives like a new car with just 67,000 miles on the clock. I have been in possession of this beast for just over 3 years and can say it behaves perfectly in all conditions. The traction control is superb as is the general ride. There has been 1 previous owner and there is full service history from the day it was first registered. I am looking for £15,500 or near offer - to a good home!   10. Please note that when you replace the battery, you will need to "tell the car" that a new battery has been installed. This allows the battery control module to reset the alternator charging rates. This is achieved via the OBD port and a plugged in suitable code reader, which most garages should be able to undertake.   11. Hi again Jim, My own car is an XKR Convertible and possibly one of the most photographed cars in the UK - it is in quite a rare colour scheme and always attracts attention at shows / outings. I parked on my local High Street last week when I was off for a haircut and came back an hour later with several folks standing around admiring the car. Everyone wanted to chat about it. So, the the answer to your initial question is YES, Jaguar did make a convertible version of the New XK (X-150) and the chassis is stiff enough to allow full use of the 510PS in my car. I have no intention of changing my car so next car specification is not relevant, I have exactly what I want and it is going to be growing old with me - already owned it for 12 years. There are around 10 good XK Convertibles for sale on the JEC Classifieds site at the moment and I would suggest you have a look there to see if anything catches your eye. When I bought my XJR last December there was no handbook wallet with it and enquiries with JLR confirmed that it was only available as a complete wallet pack which has to be individually ordered from the original publisher via JLR given the VIN number for the car. I'm not even going to say how much it cost 😉and how long it took to actually materialise. In the meantime, the rep who sold me the car managed to locate the original car documentation wallet for me, rendering the new pack of no use to me. Would the brand new pack ( still in original box} be of use to anybody? The car is a 2018 X351 and is the same for all the models apparently.

  16. Hi there, I have a manual S type. What oil should i put in the gearbox. At present the gear change isn't smooth. I havent checked the oil level but when i do i will probably change it if thats possible. Are there any additives that will help make the gear changes smoother and reduce noise?
  17. Hi margi3, a little strange to buy a car and then immediately think of flipping it for a "profit". In my experience, "flipping" for a profit with Jaguars is a fantasy world, not one occupied by mere mortals. If you are not "in" to the car and want your money back, try selling it on but be prepared for an inevitable loss. N6 JMX
  18. Hi Jim, Thanks for the quick response. The seal I am looking at has a hard surface on one side (see the brown material in image attached). It's not something I've seen before on a pinion seal so it piqued my curiosity. Thanks, Geoff
  19. Told you in terms of codes. I'll have to look in the hood to see if it's turning. While in the car i can't tell. i know there's power because there is a noise but doesn't sound like an engine turning over. Will let you know.
  20. Hello all, My first post, so I hope not a ridiculous question: Is the camber adjustable on the XF? (X260 - mine is a Jan 2020 build). And if not, why not? Reason for query: just had 4 x Eagle F1 Asym 6 fitted, followed by wheel alignment reset by technician using Hunter system. Printed report before and after shows the left (nearside) camber front and rear were and are both outside the green tolerance limit (left front was -0.53 now -0.49, left rear was -1.30 now -1.25). This means the thrust angle is slightly off, only just within tolerance. The technician tells me camber is not adjustable. I pressed him on this as the caster reading is greyed out - which does seem to indicate non-adjustable. But the camber readings are yellow (left) and green (right). So is the technician correct? Or does it just mean it needs a specialist to perform any adjustment? Thanks for any advice. Paul. img035.pdf

  23. Hi Keith, welcome to the wonderful world of Jaguar motoring - you will enjoy it. From your spelling of "tires", I am guessing you are not in the UK, possibly North America. If so, there is a great community in Jaguar North America and you will find lots of great help and insight on here. One of the first things you'll need to keep a 2004 car running well is a suitable code reader, preferably one that can cater for Jaguar specific codes (DTC). Enjoy. N6 JMX

  25. Hello all, First-time poster, but I have found this forum to be very helpful. After passing my test, I decided to buy a Jaguar X-Type. I love my car. It's a 2006 RHD model, with a 2L manual diesel. It runs great, and I love how comfortable it is. Recently, when browsing this forum, I found a few posts talking about the accessory sockets behind the glovebox and in the boot of the X-types. Having a 12v socket in the glove box of my car appealed to me, so, after doing my research, I tried to embark on installing them. I should mention that I am an electrical engineering student, so I can generally handle electrical matters. After purchasing and installing the R2 Accessory relay in the passenger side fuse box, I was confused as to why there was no voltage between either the black and brown or the black and brown-green wires in the accessory connector. I thought I had maybe tested the wrong cables so I shorted what I thought was the load end of the relay to do a continuity test. It was at this point I realised I had not disconnected the battery, as there was a crack, and the cable I used to short the pins began to smoke! I immediately pulled the cable out and did a visual check of the fuse board and could find nothing wrong, so I turned the ignition, where I found a warning light on my dash, with a note in the message centre saying "CRUISE NOT AVAILABLE". Then I noticed that the fans were not coming on, so I navigated to the climate section of the infotainment screen to find a message there also, saying "communications failure, consult your main dealer". So now I can't use the A/C, heating, Demisters, air recirculation or heated seats. On top of all this, my cigarette lighter socket also no longer works! So I was wondering if anyone knew why it was just these systems that failed? It seems odd for them to fail, as they are seemingly unrelated to each other. No fuses have blown that I have found so far either, adding to the confusion. I'd be grateful if anyone could explain to me what went wrong, and how I could fix it, if it is possible for me to do so?. Thanks, and sorry for the long explaination.
  26. Hi Phil Assuming your purchase date was 1st June 2024 and not 1st June 2014 you need to go straight back to the dealer you bought it from. They are legally bound under the Sale of Goods Act 1979 to provide that "goods delivered or sold must be of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose". First recourse is to give them the opportunity to sort it out. Regards John
  27. Hi Guys The alarm on my 05 3ltr V6 has started to sound for some reason, it's the sounder that's in the engine bay on the driver's side. I've had to disconnect the battery to silence it so getting it somewhere is a problem, plus I have a misfire on cyl 5 and it's booked in for that to be be looked next week as well as its annual MOT. Any ideas as to the problem and possible solution please? Thanks
